I feel like you guys are the only car reviewers that bring up points that actually matter when you're living with the car. "Are the controls annoying?" "Does the car feel good to drive" "Does the volume knob picture spin with the dial?" "How much crap can you put in it?" "What happens when you send it?" You guys are asking the real questions.

My guess is that some of their content is Canadian. So they do a lot of kilometers and liters and things that an American audience wouldn't understand or connect with. These guys are awesome... they're going to have an American/US audience as their fans. If they would talk about the cars in u.s. dollars and with "American" lingo, they would have more subscribers. Otherwise it feels like a small Canadian Channel rather than just a car review Channel.

I work for Volvo- here's some important things they missed. 1. Climate control works through the Voice Control button on the steering wheel~ "Set climate 72" - "Lower Fan Speed" - "Seat Heat On" - "Auto Fan 1" - Reaching for any climate system while driving is dangerous- voice control is safer and easier. 2. The Driving Mode selector screen will disappear when you press the home button under the touch screen. 3. Lane Keeping Aide works full time as long as it's enabled in the Vehicle Functions screen- at speeds over 40MPH. LKA Does not keep you centered, it keeps you inside the line as you begin to cross the line. As you cross over a line by 2-4CM, it steers you gently back inside the lane. This generally prevents heavy ping-ponging between lanes. Pilot Assist is separate in it's functionality as it uses both lines to keep you centered in the lane and take light turns- as with adaptive cruise control, tapping the brakes or making a hard turn on the steering wheel will disable Pilot Assist. If there are no drive lines on the road- yet Pilot Assist is active- Lane Keeping Aide and Run-Off-Road Mitigation are both still active in trying to keep you on the road. 4. Those are the stock Inscription trim wheels- on an R-Design. I have never seen that anywhere else. Great review! My customers definitely are not shopping in a price segment- if they are looking at this vehicle- they are looking at Audi Q5's, BMW X3/X5's, Infinity QX50'ss, Lexus RX350's and so forth. Volvo usually ends up giving you more standard equipment and better tech than the others for less money- on a car that promises you won't die in it.

Hey! How’s the reliablitiy? The XC60 is rated at average, but the XC40 and XC90 are rated at the bottom. Wanted to know from the perspective from someone that works from Volvo to see if that’s true or not
@jacobthompson1465
@jacobthompson1465 4 жыл бұрын
@@hr9592 With the XC40 being so new when those reliability ratings came out, and seeing virtually no service customers complaining about any serious issues with the car- I cant say I understand how its true. The XC90 as well hadnt experienced serious issues- and if I saw any problems it was usually technology related, apps not working, screen loading times running long or freezing- nothing that ever prevented them from driving the car. So this makes me wonder if the low reliability rating comes from people experiencing tech issues- I spent a lot of time helping people in service re-learn how to operate the car. It was crazy how many folks never got a proper walk through and were furious that their heated seat is on every time they start the car, when I can open the settings up and easily fix it- Bluetooth, wifi and the OnCall system were issues I resolved every day. Once every few months I would get a story from service about someones car needing replacement breaks earlier than I would expect and the XC40 had a hose recall that caused issues for a few people but again nothing serious.

Jacob Thompson thank you for your response. A Volvo SUV (ANY) is my dream car but those relaibility comments make me nervous (Edmunds and US Car Rankings to be specific) . I absolutely love how they look. I don’t understand the complaints about not understanding the Sensus system, asi I can imagine that with regular use, you will get super familiar with it.

@@henjoh69 As someone who has owned a couple late 90's S70 T5's (and still does own one), it saddens me to see a cylinder missing. The sound of those 20V motors was unmistakable and unique and it makes me REALLY wish that they would either bring back the 5th cylinder for cars wearing a T5 badge or rename them to T4 or TS4 for the dual forced induction version.

I love that Volvo is owned by Geely a Chinese company since 2010 and not changed the brand but made it better after Ford. My guess is we are going to see more Chinese vehicles in the USA as electric cars start to become popular. That reenactment was the best. This could be a problem for Volvo as you guys are professional car door openers.

Same for me buddy ! And Savagegeese tested the T8 version....has some pretty severe reserves (and I think I agree...). Sad 'cause the T8 was on my list. SQ5 is way better value though...The PHEV is just not mature enough.
@mikewang1439
@mikewang1439 5 жыл бұрын
The T8 will be better in value if you account for the government PHEV tax incentive and state/local credit towards PHEV purchase. Both T8 and SQ5 are solid cars, if you can cash in the incentive and have charging facility at home/work, T8 will be worth a shot.

I know many people who've ended up buying a pick-up \ Grand Cherokee.. when nearing the 50K+ , the commanding view of the road, and implemented speed limits really encourage drivers to have spacious cabins of crew cab trucks, and lots of option for gear & hauling. You guys are great Canadians with symbiotic chemistry ! Keep the funny "Thor headlight" & informative reviews coming . The extra ground clearance of trucks are healthy over 4 seasons & road debris, curbstone, beach access, creek crossing, Ice fishing, Kiting etc.

I've definitely cross shopped by price. My first major car purchase was narrowed down to a Juke, Beetle, GTI, Tacoma, RAV4, and a Silverado. The only factors I wanted for sure were side airbags, stability control, less than 50k miles, and an $18k limit. The trucks gas mileage we're offset by comparatively low price and great insurance rates compared to the others due to being slightly older and closer to my 50k mile threshold. Surprisingly, the estimated cost to own was highest on the RAV4.

I bought an xc60 R design with Polestar optimization. I love the SUV. Perfect power, excellent versatility, reliability, affordability and maintenance. Not too showy but not too boring. I got rid of an older model 650I and ML SUV and got just this one vehicle. It definitely meets my spirited driving requirements while being able to downplay it to luxury driving when I have occupants. When I purchased this vehicle I was comparing via similar vehicles and not a price point. I knew I wanted an SUV for sure. Although I can understand some people like my roommate look for anything under a price point.

Yuri deserves an award for the dramatic reenactment of his accident. Seriously, I hope you don't end up with a scar though. I currently have a 2015 Volvo V60 and I hate the auto start stop. I have conditioned myself to turn if off each time I get in the car, the button is right by the shifter. Mine has the sport package and it is harsh over bumps because it has 19" wheels. When it comes to cars I have owned and the pricing, I think I just pick what I like at the time and what will meet my needs and budget. I've had a variety of vehicles over the past 10 years because circumstances change. I've had a Dodge Ram 1500 4 x 4 Hemi QC when I had a car trailer and towed stuff, a Dodge Charger V6 when gas went super high, a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (6-speed) as fun daily (but too slow), and now the Volvo because I travel a lot for work and it gets good mileage and is decently quick. But I guess I am headed towards a mid-life crisis because I want MX5 or a Mini Cooper, but I'm leaning towards MX5 because I want a manual transmission in a small sporty car, its RWD, and the top goes down. But the newer ones are hard to find in my area with the color and features I want.

I test drove one a few months ago and really liked it. There is only one Mazda dealer in my town and they don't have what I'm looking for. I've been searching for used ones and the cars/price I like are 300 or more miles away, so I'm still looking for the right one. I'm trying to be patient.

This review has lead me to believe that, hands down, you two are my favorite reviewers to watch. You both have driven so many cars. I like how you talk about hyper aware stuff such as the time a screen takes to switch after an input. That shit is gold! That’s the stuff you find out after 72 hours and you’re like fuck! If I would have known this before, I wouldn’t have picked this over the other option.

Guys, can we get some shots of Mississauga Road for the next car review? It's got nice scenery and beautiful homes to pass by, perfect for driving shots.

I don’t really cross-shop. If I’m looking for a hatchback, I don’t really consider a truck as an option. Speaking of hatchbacks... looking forward to that golf r review 🙂

Alex Lee Me too but since the new story about VW subcontracting emissions testing to animal and human testing....I’m thinking to cancel my R on order. Might go Volvo V60 but really I have nothing else to cross-shop. I can’t fucking believe VW.

Yes to the DVP test! Grab all the semi autonomous cars! As for the gas tank icons, I think the lower one is suppose to show "go to gas station", and the arrow coincidentally is pointed to the correct side.
