I remember all this stuff from when I was 6 and 7. It was Jean Morton, Tinga and Tucker, Willy Wombat, Kiki Kangaroo and Katy Kookaburra with them singing "Over the rickety bridge" on one occasion. I used to think Muriel Young was called "Memorial Young" because in Coventry we had the Memorial Park. On top of that it was all in blurry black and white, you had to wait 5 mins for the TV to "warm up" so you could see it. If you went up close to the screen you could see the horizontal lines which made up the picture. Round the back you could smell the hot electronic valves. They were happy days.

Brilliantly remembered! I only got half of those characters, but don't you mean "The wibbly wobbly way?"

The theme music of ‘The Five O’clock Club’ has been stuck in my head since I saw it as a little boy in my ‘Nanny White’s house’ when I knew it wasn’t long before my mum would be collecting me after work. Now at 61 I decided to google ‘The Five O’clock Club’..... 😁 where has that time gone 🤷♂️ God bless you mum and Nanny White 🥰

Five O'clock Club presented by Wally Whyton and Muriel Young. It was on one episode I remember an appearance by the pop group, The Ivy League. Tinga and Tucker, the koalas (I cannot remember the name of the presenter but I think the programme was shown on Sunday evenings around 6.00pm), Fred and Ollie on Five O'clock Club also, I believe, later as part of 'Lift Off With Ayesha'. I am sure others will remember even more titles and characters....

The vintage bus as seen in the clip is the one that my late Uncle Frank Darby (1905-1977) used to go aboard many times from his local pub in the 1940s and early 50s.

Surely "we", as in ITV Midlands, only dates back to the Carlton takeover of Central TV in the 90s. It certainly doesn't cover Lew Grade's ATV. In England, only ITV Granada (Manchester) now has any direct relationship to the original franchise holders, with all the other ITV regions hollowed out by their takeovers by Granada or Carlton and their subsequent homogenisation.
