In this video, my daily gets some service. Brakes are important on any vehicle and my 2021 Silverado has around 40,000 miles and the brake pad monitor life has indicated that it’s time to replace the fronts. Rears remained at 60% on the monitor, however I changed them out as well, since I Purchased the complete kit from Rock Auto for $368, shipped to my door.
I have never done brakes on this truck and the struggles of me figuring out (as many at home would) are included in this video. Most of the tools can be found in any small tool kit. I did however need to use my Harbor Freight scan tool and clear the codes at the end. The scan tool is about $160. Others will work, as long as you make sure they can read/clear ABS issue. You can also take the vehicle to a parts store that has the scan tool and have them clear the code. Just remember that with the truck in limp mode, speeds might be restricted to only 41MPH.
Doing research online, other topics came up whether or not the truck can be placed into service mode for the rear brakes, without a scan tool.. yes it can and removed.
I made chapters on this one, since it is longer. Feel free to skip around and as always, please like, subscribe, share, and comment!
