2019-2021 Ford Transit Seat Repair - Seat Springs and Cushion Replacement

This is a video explaining how to repair broken seat springs in a Ford Transit. This video shows the driver seat, but the passenger seat is done the same way. This is a problem for 2019-2021 models, and now Ford makes a repair kit. I've repaired a lot of these, and I made this video to hopefully help anyone who is thinking about doing it themselves.

Thank you for the tutorial, I have a fleet of transits to maintain. For commercial high turn over use or when replacing the battery inspect from under the seat. If springs have failed a couple or more 36 inch zip ties can act as the straps provided in the kit.

That's not a bad idea. If you feel like you have to take the seat out, it's easy to do, but be careful with the wiring. I leave the seat in to save time

The seat springs suck in these vans , I have a fleet of 11 had to replace all the seat pan's cant get the repair kit anymore so bloody expensive , all try your zip tie trick , just had a vans seat springs break . Thanks

D Street Thank you so much for this video. I drive a 2019 for work (company owned) and the driver seat is jacked. It's currently at the local dealer getting the timing cover gasket repaired to fix an oil leak, and it also needs cats at 57,000 miles. They quoted $1,700 to fix the seat, something that you did in a manner of 20 minutes or so. I have conflicting information on the seat foam for my year- the part number you showed says it's for a 2020 with heated seats? Did the foam change from year to year? the foam you showed is quite a bit cheaper than the CK4Z-9963222-A that is indicated as the proper part for my van. is the HK4Z an improved design? I reworked a 2007 mustang driver seat for my wife several years back. I went and got door edge guards and put it on all of the stupid sharp edges on the seat to reduce the likelihood of the foam getting cut again. I see sharp edges as part of the problems with seat design. My 2020 Sierra has similar issues, although not too bad yet. Thanks for any time you can offer as a reply!!

They updated a lot of the interior in 2020, but to my knowledge, the actual shape of the foam never changed. There are different options depending on your trim level. The number I gave should be for a base model cargo van. Unfortunately, I don't know if they improved the design or not.

Yes, but I recommend the repair kit from the video as it comes with straps to prevent it from happening again.

Someone also commented that they were going to use zip ties to act as the straps.

I've done a lot of these and have done both ways. This is just faster for me.
