This car has a gearbox with very long developments. Most part of the time works under 3.000 rpm, very similar to a diesel engine but with the good sound of a petrol engine. If someone would have told me years ago that there will be a petrol car with 190cv that would have 3.6 l/100 km of consumption at 100 km/h I would have told him:" you're mad Bud" .Good test as ever!!!!!
@Scythra2 жыл бұрын
3.6l/100km is a bit too generous on the estimation. I have this car and I drive a 100km/u max speed limit road everyday to work and I hit 4.9/5.2l/100km avg.
@TheUniformGreen Жыл бұрын
@@Scythra still, this is a really good consumption. I have a 2011 A5 sportback 2.0 TDI 170hp and I get 5.5-6l at 120km/h.

this is also thanks to the engine technologies...it has variable timing on the intake and on the exhaust. it has budack cycle. it also has direct injection and also high compression ratio of about 10-11:1, which is quite high for a turbo petrol. it has AVS, audi valve lift system. it has dual injection system, MPI and FSI. it has variable oil pump. it has a lot of technologies borrowed from the diesel engines, hence the results. Also, petrol engines do not need so many injection stages in order to make them burn clean, so a diesel wastes fuel for reaching good noxes, whereas petrol cars don't need to. i think overall petrol engines are superior in the end. this engine has no EGR, it achieves the EGR effect by valves overlapping their in/out timing. this engine heats up super fast when cold. it runs also very smooth, no need for a huge flywheel like in a diesel. it doesn't need a big dpf, just a simple gpf which doesn't regenerate. it doesn't need SCR and adblue. torque can be increased even further to be similar to a diesel IF engine manufacturers move to variable geometry turbos, like VW has on 1.5 TSI and also basically all diesel engines. Variable geometry turbo allows you to create more boost at lower revs hence giving the feeling of diesel engine to a petrol engine at lower rpms. and also fuel consumption can be further reduced by stronger hybridization, like honda, toyota are doing already. diesels do not really bode well to hybrid systems, because hybrids require a lot of engine on/off cycles and diesels are not that balanced and happy when restarting. also particulates are quite high when diesel starts so...only petrol engines are suited for hybrids. this ended up being a long rant, but yeah, these petrol engines have come a long way and driving one, you could swear it's a diesel.

It has a very high compression ration (11,7:1), almost as high as Toyotas NA engines. That's why it's so efficient.
@vladmihai306 Жыл бұрын
the 252 variant is thirsty because it lacks the high compression ratio like this one (190hp has). this also has budack cycle and some other extra stuff that make it highly efficient.

Why not a 75 liter tank???? For real 1000km autonomy??
@cmott88092 жыл бұрын
I’m confused on your Range calculations, i usually get average 580km in combined cycle and 630 to 650 km on all highway driving at 130 mm, how are you gettin 1600+ range?
@TESTDRIVEFREAK2 жыл бұрын
This is only theoretically possible, if all the way is very flat, no stopping atnlights or traffic and all time cruising at 80 kmh, average is 3.3 liter and fuel tank 54 liter. So thats possible range. Hypermiling. Maybe you live in area where lots hills? That cause higher fuel consumption and less range.
