I'm wondering why Belmo didn't choose to switch balls after he saw the rollout in the second frame. I'm also curious as to why he would choose a shiny pearl ball on a 44 foot pattern.

Um because he had better reaction playing in and a solid wouldent roll good in the back end pearl balls are mutch later but when u have 500 revs that combats that and Pearl's save more energy and hook a ton on the backend hence why he was playing 25 to 5.

@@Charles13033 Yes, you're correct that shiny pearl balls save more energy and hook a ton in the backend. However, you need to give the ball time to hook because it's a long 44 foot pattern. The ball only has 11 more feet to hook, so really all that power is wasted because it's not even released at the point of impact. To remedy this, Belmo threw much, much slower than he usually did, which can cause the ball to roll out, especially considering that he has over 500 revs. I'm speaking, of course, in hindsight, but the rollouts should have tipped Belmo off that he may have made the wrong ball choice. In the case of Jesper Svensson playing urethane, I understand that because he sands the ball dull. In addition, he's left-handed and not only is he more likely to have his line all to himself, but using urethane will make it so that he plays the same spot over and over again. It's much easier to bowl when you're only throwing in the same spot, right? However, if ever Jesper has to move in, his urethane just becomes completely useless. I remember Ryan Ciminelli using the same strategy a long time ago in his first Cheetah championship. He ran into trouble when he had to move in, and it was over for him. The same thing has been happening to Jesper lately.

@@flipper9038 Save for the 4th frame where he completely missed left, he didn't miss by much on the other shots. See, the correct ball is not the one that strikes all the time, but the one that allows you a lot of boards of playing area. If you look at O'Neill's shots, especially the one on the 9th frame, he missed by just as much as Belmo, but still got it into the pocket. I will consider that a lucky strike, but if it didn't strike, it certainly wouldn't have left an ugly split, not like Belmo's ball was doing where if he would miss a pinch, he would pay the ultimate penalty.
