Jason Belmont. The GOAT. So happy to be able to witness the greatness in my own time.

@@oldgoat50 it’s going to be quite impossible because of the reduction of tour titles per year nowadays. in the past there would be a tour stop almost every fortnight, giving away 50+ titles a year. but now we barely have any. the one thing that didnt change is the number of majors a year they hold. today the ratio of number of majors to titles in a year is quite off, but in the past there were significantly more titles than major events. so since the number of majors per year was held pretty constant through the years, we compare bowlers over time using their total majors won. that’s why belmo is number one, not WRWJ, but WRWJ is no doubt still up there as the top 5 bowlers in the PBA

@@oldgoat50 Give the players a PBA Tour how it was Pre 2009, where there were 20-25 titles up for grabs per season, belmo and a few others would be past that.

@@oldgoat50 sorry for the exaggeration without proper fact checking about the 50 titles. there were around 32-40 titles in the 1970s-80s, all of them held in the US. but today, there are barely more than 20 titles a year. worse, some are held overseas in japan, korea and others where some bowlers don't think the prize money is worth their trip there. the scarcity of titles nowadays, paired with the ever-increasing pool of skilled bowlers, makes every title win (no matter how small) greater than last time despite the small a*s cash prizes nowadays (even with inflation)

Looking back at this match, that missed 7 pin for Butturff was huge. If he picks that up Belmo would have needed all three strikes in the 10th or he would have lost. Talk about monumental. But either way they both bowled a phenomenal game. Butturff was solid the whole show.
@Lexzim9098
@Lexzim9098 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, if Butturff made that 7-pin, he would have won by one pin if Jason were to strike out, which would've been even more huge for Butturff. Because the 7-pin miss in the 6th frame was after working the strike from the 5th, Butturff lost 20 pins for leaving the 7-pin, plus an additional 12 pins for whiffing it! *Max Score for Butturff in Frame 5: 259* *Max Score for Butturff in Frame 6: 259 - 20 = 239, then 239 - 12 = 227*

Without that missed 7-pin, Butturff would have scored 238 and Belmo would have needed a turkey in the tenth frame to tie, such an ending would have been great to watch

Butturff would have actually scored a 239 game instead, one more pin than Belmonte if he were to strike out.

@@michaelpatterson4718 Bro out of everything for your first ever comment on the channel and you say this lol. Anyways, no you're actually wrong since missing a single pin after a strike is 12 pins, whereas after a previous open frame or spare you would lose 11. The Math in bowling is not exactly easy to understand, but to summarise, missing a single pin after working on a single strike will always make the player lose an additional 12 pins for whiffing. I mean look, frame 6. Jakob was on 259 pace, until leaving the 7-pin the third straight time on the left lane, which deducted his max score by 20 pins from 259 to 239. If he converted that 7-pin, he could've won the entire match by a single pin to Jason Belmonte. However because Jakob whiffed the 7-pin, his max score dropped by 12 pins from 239 to 227, NOT 228. Look up on the internet to understand the Math of bowling more, and don't abuse my math again.

@videoGamingFan is right. It is 12 for a missed spare after a strike. Frame with strike is 19 and missed frame is 9. If he spared it would have been 20 and 20. 40 - 19 - 9 = 12

I know what I'm am about to say is going to piss a bunch of people off. I have never liked or been a fan of the 2 handed bowling. Its not how the game, sport was designed to be played. Is Belmo, the man yessir, do i respect his game , yessir, do i respect his style of bowling (2 hands), not at all. Congrats on the win Belmo, I would like to see you do it one handed.

You can't say you don't respect his style but respect his game. His style IS part of his game. Also the game is designed to knock all 10 pins down, doesn't matter how, doesn't matter what style. THAT is the beauty of bowling.
