I was wondering why there was so many parents/family members and then I remembered it is a High School meet. Lol in college, the parents just don't care anymore and might come to one or two meets of your whole season because you're on your own now. Sad reality.

College athletics also is largely out of state and requires a lot more traveling to be fair

Wtf? This is literally the most iconic high school cross country course in the nation. Woodwark Park, California. The state meet and other invitationals have taken place there since the 80s.
