I just completed a week traveling across South Dakota putting 1200 miles on the Spyder RT. The trip included four day of winding roads in the Black Hills and traveling a total of 600 miles on the Interstate at 80 MPH. This thing is a joy to ride and I've had a blast during the year I've owned one. Yes, if you ride 2-wheels this may not be your thing but personally it took me several months before I understood what an awesome machine this really is and what it can do. I have nothing but respect from my HD friends that I ride with and it's a shame there are some in the comments that like to split hairs on what is and what isn't a good motorcycle. If you enjoy the ride on the open road...that's all that counts. Good review @NothingToProve.

Two years ago, I had to stop riding motorbikes. Luckily, a friend in the USA told me about the Can Am Spyders. I bought a used 2014 ST Limited with only 1,974Km on it. I now have a little over 10,000Km. I took a little time to get used to the riding style, but once you understand the machine, you can really enjoy rides especially over longer distances. And for "Closet.Rebel"; You should take what David Haas says seriously. Just because you're incapable of grasping a different concept, doesn't mean it's wrong - it's just not for you. And I don't know what your age is either; fact is that we folks who are in the 60s and 70s must be doing something right; we're still around to talk about it.

Thank you for the great review. Though both my wife and I are motorcycle riders, we rented a Spyder in Colorado. After a full day of riding and over 400 miles, we both felt great. No it didn't feel like a bike but we both had fun driving it. Which is the point; getting out in the open air and having fun.

A really good review... I've got 23K miles on my '18 RT Limited and have loved every mile, rain or shine. With (optional) arm restls, my wife can literally fall asleep on the back, though she swears she hasn't. It doesn't corner as well as a bike in twisties, but then it doesn't fall over at a light. Pretty good trade off, really. I live in the desert where the speed limits are in the 70s and 80s (MPH) and there is little or no problem passing on the highway. I have no real experience on two wheels since I crashed last in '80 and now I'm in my 70s, so I appreciate the stability. I love my Spyder..!

Excellent review as always. A disabled friend of mine has this bike and the rear of the bike (where the passenger would sit) has been modified so that his wheelchair just folds and clips to it. I am a 2 and 3 wheel instructor. I see students all the time coming from a 2-wheel background with the same attitude that "Closet" has. I have a Spyder and also a BMW S1000R. I am a younger guy and would certainly recommend you take a 3-wheel course. They are different animals and I have to "re-calibrate" my body and thinking when I go from on to the other. I see a lot of folks having issues in the corners as well and we teach you how to go through a corner correctly. We also teach how to shift a semi correctly where it's smooth as silk. I also teach the H-D Riding Academy and see folks all the time that have just purchased a Free-wheeler or Tri-Glide. When they get on a Spyder, the H-D usually goes back to the dealer!!

I bought a 2018 just like yours with only 900 miles, $15,000 less than a black entry level HD Triglide. My right side rear compartment holds my fullface XL helmet just fine. I place it in on its side with the flat bottom (opening ) facing inward. Don't know if it was an option, but my passenger seat has two fold down armrests. So far I've installed a wide full sized brake pedal, a front facia black bra, a couple of cup holders. I love it, I rode a HD Sportster 1200 for 13 years. I'll be 70 in Sept...wanted a little more stability underneath me. Great product review thank you.

@@TheBandit7613 Chris, I've never ridden a HD triglide so I can't make a comparison on the stability aspect...the over my paygrade price was what drove me away from HD...now I love HD...but not enough to commit that much $$$. The Spyder is smooth, quiet, and stable at highway speeds even with my wife and myself aboard and we're both chunky sized. It has ABS brakes, traction control and stability control. It's such a pleasure to come to a redlight or stop sign and the semi automatic transmission downshifts for you, and you never have to put your feet on the ground...plus the real reverse gear is handy backing into or out of a parking spot. You and Bob should maybe test ride one at the Can Am Dealership and decide for yourselves...I love mine...

Thank you for all these awesome videos. Here in Portugal you can drive this type of vehicle if you a have a class A motorcycle license or class B car license. Nothing fancy just regular stuff, the same you need to drive a motorcycle or a car.

Just took my 2016 RT limited to Alaska from Indiana, going through the curves it was not as stable as I thought it would be, twice going around a curve my Spyder slid into the other lane , thank God no car or truck was coming, then we hydroplane 4 times while going 60 the guys on two wheels was going 70 through the same rain..

I think, by definition, that is a motorcycle, because 'motorcycle' defines any motorised vehicle on wheels, without specifying the number of wheels.

Thank you Don, the jeans are Trilobite Agnox, the jacket is from Rukka, with the thermo lining in it, it's the warmest motorcycle jacket on the market, at least that's what the mfg. say. Ride safe, Scott

That one meter apart for the wheeles on same axel cant be right, if it was then you couldnt drive piaggio 3 wheeler wish you can with a car driving licens or motorcykel driving licens, you should sheck it out better. I am in sweden and i belive we have same laws on that.

Great Video. I had a Piaggio MP3 500, with two wheels in front, and here in California you don't need a motorcycle license, but I do have one to ride my 2 wheeler. I love the touring model, but the price is way too high. Hopefully you can slap some bags on the base model and get done what you need to do. I love that auto downshift feature. I just hope that maintenance isn't a nightmare.

Hello ....Thank you so much for your presentation ... I live in Sweden and here you can drive with a driving license ... except that you have to ask permission from the authorities ... This type of motorcycle is called: "Help vehicles" according to the law we have ... But you have shown a very good vidio and this I say to you: "Big warm thanks for your vidio" ... You have described how it works and a little more than that .... // Thank you. M.L.B. of Sweden ... (will buy this type next year)
@ciscodxter4 жыл бұрын
That is not true! This qualifies as a three wheeled motorcycle and requires a driving license when used on public roads. However, a regular B-card is sufficient, since its three wheeled.

in new zealand you don't need a motorcycle licence, just a full car.
