My personal work truck is a 4WD, full-size Silverado crew cab. It's huge. Too big, really. At the office, we also maintain a white 2016 Colorado extended cab z71, a new 2019 Colorado z71 crew cab, and two 5-year old Nissan Frontiers (both 5 speed manuals). All of these trucks are competent and dependable. There are no bad choices, but the Colorado, z71 3.6 Liter V6 crew cab is our current vehicle of choice. Quiet. Powerful. All necessary options. Jane and I just bought one as our personal vehicle. Love it. Thanks for this review. Duane Behrens

@markgonzalez11656 жыл бұрын
I got the same truck. It does have fog lights. It gives it a more complete look. It’s a crew cab. I had a camaro. I got a 4 year old son. A baby daughter coming. So I had to upgrade. The truck is smooth. It has that premium feel . I do feel some power for a v6. I was surprised. It has some height. I did installed some nerf bars. This was on my budget as of now. My goal is to get a zr2. Midsize has won me over a Silverado as of today.
@HiPlains16 жыл бұрын
Fog lights come with the convenience package which includes remote start, fog lights, easy lift tailgate, rear sliding window with defogger, and heated mirrors. I thought most LT's were ordered with this. This LT basically has zero packages on it. I just ordered a loaded LT but I'm hearing that the halogen projectors are not very bright. Do you find that the headlights are too dim? It's looking like my first mod will be replacing the projectors with LED's. Probably the foggers to LED's as well. Also on that Zr2 know that your MPG are going to be terrible with the V6. Think 15/16 average at best. The best way to order the Zr2 is with the 2.8 duramax. Then you get decent MPG's and offroad performace. But I also heard that one set of shocks cost 4K to replace (4 shocks per wheel). Its a very advanced system.
@markgonzalez11655 жыл бұрын
HiPlains1 sorry I didn’t know you commented. Yes . The lights are on the low but nothing that bugs me so far. I’m not a super fan of leds.. specially when drivers are facing me and I feel like I’m at a kizz concert . I did upgrade the wheels.

I wonder how’s the reliability of the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon?
@HiPlains16 жыл бұрын
JD power and many others rate this truck very highly. Its won truck of the year two years in a row Motor trend. I just ordered one myself. After a few test drives I was more then impressed. Very solid. Entertainment system is probably best in class. GM plans a big refresh in 2020. So this is basically a 5 year old design that has been improved over time. 36K mile warranty but the drivetrain is 60000 or five years. The packages are more reasonable and IMO, you get more truck, and more for your money over tacoma or Ranger. Just test drive one and the truck will sell itself. At least with me it did. I'll never buy a first year model again. Too many recalls problems. My last Nissan sentra was a 2012 which was the last year of that design. And the most reliable. There were a few issues with that car early on. Just like the Colorado had its problems. Mainly the 6 speed with the V6. Then they changed that to the 8 speed and over the years, its just gets better over time. If you buy one, I would not go further back then a 2017. 2019's are basically the same but there are some nice changes. They have added a USB C port and higher resolution screen with some faster software. On the safety package they added rear parking assist. And they added another microphone for passenger etc.. Like I said, they just keep making it better. If you buy, I strongly suggest getting LT trim at the minimum to get some of the fun stuff.
@JA-ni7ok6 жыл бұрын
HiPlains1 Wow man. That was very informative. Me personally I do believe if you want a truck, you must go American but in the midsize truck segment, the Tacoma has been the King of midsize pickups and I just wanted to be sure that the GM twins were a solid choice because it’s a newer design.
@HiPlains16 жыл бұрын
@@JA-ni7ok Well its been out for 5 years now. That's more then enough time IMO to work out the bugs. It was available overseas first. Probably to make sure they got all the bugs out. But they hadn't lol for the first couple of years. At this point this Truck is rock solid. And resale is pretty good as well. Not as good as Toyota but its right up there. These things fly off the lots for a reason.
@Shakerhood695 жыл бұрын
@HiPlains1, I couldn't help but think of a Pontiac Grand Am, they were trash from day 1 all the way till the final day, they could have had an eternity of time to work the bugs out and it wouldn't help, lol.
@HiPlains15 жыл бұрын
@@Shakerhood69 Your right. My above commit was before I realized the Colorado is still having issues with the 8 speed transmission with shuddering/torque convertor failures. I ended up getting a Frontier Pro 4X which definitely has a reliable motor/trans. It may be a bit outdated but I've got piece of mind. And its built like a tank. Plus the Pro 4X offers even more value then the Colorado. Considerably more.

How is the ride on and off road?
@TheTestDrive6 жыл бұрын
On-road it’s pretty good. The ride isn’t as soft as an SUV but that’s to be expected with a pickup truck. It’s comfortable and very solid. I didn’t go off-road with it but I would say it’s going to be like most other modern trucks-OK in very light off-roading. If you want something built for off-road from the factory you will want to check out the Colorado ZR2 (or the F-150 Raptor but that is a full-size truck and a lot more expensive).

Better deals for what you get on these than the re released new to the USA ford rangers. I am looking to buy a new truck for the first time soon. Had used all my life. I think you get more for the money on these than the Rangers. Also Ford lies on MPG for boosted motors. They call it ecoboost. you can have eco, and you can have boost. But you can have both. But under Boost you are not getting the mileage they advertise. I have found some better deals on the same equipped GMC canyons. The Canyons might be a little nicer trims than the Chevys. Great review and very informative.

Hello Rob! First time watching your videos! I’m actually on my second Colorado, the first was a fine all around all black truck, that had 68,000 trouble free miles in 3 years 9 months, averaged 18-26 mpg driven easy at the limits with cruise control, plus towed our 22’ 4,500 Travel Trailer on more than half those miles, from our last home in Massachusetts and as far North as Bar Harbor ME and South as Key West Florida. On many camping trips weighing in around 9,800 lbs. CGVW all while averaging 12 mpg! but at the time was the wife’s daily diver and I had my own car. But now that we are both retired, we needed a Crew Cab! So last month we traded for a White 2019 Colorado Crew Cab W/T, 4x4, V6, that has every option package available. That means body colored bumpers, power mirrors and door handles, 16” alloy wheels bright trim in the middle of the doors, plus a 7” MyLink Touch Screen with OnStar Safety/Nav System with 4 G LTE WIFI! Along with the Factory Tow Package that comes Auto Locking Rear Differential with Hitch all wiring and Trailer Brake Control. Then I also got the Performance Skid Plate Package that protects from the front bumper to under the oil pan/bell housing, then another fitted under the transmission/transfer case and gas tank! All made out of Boron Steel from AEV designed for the BISON! Plus an 84 month 100,000 Bumper to Bumper Warranty! All for the total price of under 33k!
