Look. I was on the Bluecoats 09 hornline. I’ve been watching finals for the past ten years and even met a few Devil alumni. Their mindset is a champion mindset, just like the New England Patriots, Floyd Mayweather, and Tiger Woods. They just win all the time. Or at the very least highly, highly competitive. And you want to know why they always win? *Because they work their asses off.* Everyone is butt hurt because they think Coats should’ve won, but truth is, a championship medal is not an entitlement, it is *earned*. BD earned theirs. If Bloo won, I would’ve said the same for them. I love my corps, but I will always respect the rules. 6 words.

Everyone is butthurt because everyone thought the blue coats deserved first and earned it not just because it’s a fan favorite Corp. the blue devils seem to do this thing where they win despite it not seeming like they should or place very high. Like when was the last time they were third? Without a doubt they are an amazing Corp and work their asses off but I mean come on man in 2016 crown won 3/5 caption awards with the coats taking first with 1 caption award and scv taking percussion. The devils didn’t get a single caption awards in 2016 but they placed second over crown who got 3 caption award and in a lot of people’s opinion had the better show. It’s stuff like that that get people riled up. Again we know the blue devils are stellar musicians and definitely deserve to be where they are it just gets aggravating when this stuff happens. Like people wanna see different corps win. Crown and the coats are favorites because they put on incredible shows and could totally win but both of them have only ever won once meanwhile the devils have 19 championship wins.

Bd was cleaner visually, and locked in musically. I was there man. I wanted to see bloo win but bd killed it dead last night. You gotta understand the smallest details matter. And that’s what got the coats. Very small errors. 1. Their drill was a little more demanding so I’ll give them some slack but the alignment in the bass drums in a few areas and bass turns were not locked in completely, pre show had some kinks, etc. very small details. You would’ve had to be in the stands to see what I’m talking about. So no, the bluecoats weren’t ripped off like some say they were. They scored a 98.28 only an 8th of a point behind bd. Do you realize how long it’s been since 1st and 2nd was that close? I think this season was the best in years. Congrats to bd and a legacy left by seidling.

I loved both Bloo and BD’s shows. I had seen them both live. Bloo was energetic and fun. BD was powerful and dramatic. It was a matter of cleanliness in the end. The scores reflect that. Both worked very hard and it payed off. Bloo will get their golden age eventually.

It is one thing to not like the Blue Devils. I get it they win a lot and just like sports and anything else in the world, people love the underdogs. It is another thing to outright make claims of DCI being rigged towards the Blue Devils. Don't disrespect the amount of work and technical excellence these kids display just because you are a bunch of fanboys. Bluecoats show was flashy and entertaining, but the Blue Devils played their show better. This isn't a contest of who creates a more entertaining show, its a contest of who can show a mastery of their instruments, marching ability, and discipline.

wow - I attended the DCI championship finals for first time last night (well, i did in 2000 but that didn't count). Totally awesome performances by all 12 corps, regardless of points/placements! After the awards ceremony, several of the battery drumlines started playing an interesting drum "chant" cadence that I had never heard. Is this a traditional DCI thing or did this just happen on the fly? 'twas very cool to say the least. Thanks to all corps and DCI!

It came down to the visuals. Bloo had a great show, but there was so much on the field that it was sensory overload and they weren’t properly utilized. BD had maneuverable props that allowed them to do more drill and less standing in place. As for Crown, they had the highest total music score of anyone that night. They marched, played, and performed clean. However, the visuals did not make sense for what they were trying to present. Kudos to them though for running around the field like chickens with their heads cut off triple tonguing everything. We need more difficult drill in DCI. Not less. With all that said, BD and SCV respectively just had a better package.

This is the only Drumline in the history of DCI who, by a wide margin, won top Drumline at Prelims, yet the corps never qualified for the top 12 at Finals. Surely, this achievement demands its place in the annals of DCI history!

I actually think it’s the opposite. Yes BD had props, but they were maneuverable. It gave them the opportunity to use more of the field for drill as opposed to Bloo that had stuff everywhere and really just had a small section of field to work with. If props are used effectively, as BD proved, they can work.

This is just my personal opinion but I just did not like the blue devils’ show this year, I’m not sure why exactly, but nothing really grabbed my attention. On the flip side, I LOVED the Bluecoats show (I know I’m a little biased), but seriously, this show was astounding. Then, at that very moment during awards, the moment he said the word “Coats” and especially once the devils’ score was announced, I just about lost my mind, I was so angry and sad all at the same time and just UGH. If we made a top 5 list of what BD gets accused of by the haters............playing to the sheets would be in the top 5. BD has been accused of for years designing their shows to max out the judging sheets. So how is adding a crowd caption going to work if BD PLAYS TO THE SHEETS?? BDs staff will recognize and acknowledge the new caption..........and since they PLAY TO SHEETS like you haters claim, they will max out the crowd caption by designing a show that will send crowd to their feet multiple times during the performance. This BD fan is all for your idea. Only thing that stops BD is COVID. DO IT UP DEVILS!!!!!
