They used to be on ESPN2 years ago...they replayed finals at Thanksgiving or around that time...I know that is completely worthless since you know who already won, but if you had not seen finals...it was well worth it.

ESPN2 sucked because they only played the top 6 and they chopped the shows down to about 6 minutes. It was great when the played Finals on PBS. Of course, that was years ago. They used to play the entire top 12 live including retreat. They later cut it down to just play the top 7 or 6, but they at least played the whole shows and it was live. Later PBS changed so that they only played portions of the finalists shows and the broadcast did not come out until months after DCI. They should just play Finals in the movie theaters like they do quarters. Of course this will never happen because they signed that deal to have Finals in Indianapolis, and the city would not want to lose any revenue due to a possible loss in attendance.

Miles Cumminski I don't follow DCI from year to year, so this is the first I'm hearing about the deal with the movie theaters. You said they don't start showing the shows until quarterfinals? Also, is it a nationwide thing or mainly in cities close to each corp's hometown? I live in N. Alabama about halfway between Birmingham, AL and Nashville, TN. I'm wondering how close the shows made it to my neck of the woods. Thanks.

I work at a PBS station in Cleveland and back between 1995-2007 or so we used to carry the finals live. I miss seeing these broadcasts and just discovered them here. Glad they have a home here since PBS won't carry it, for now anyways, and I'm not sure how ESPN or any other network would treat the finals as well as PBS did.

If you want to be happy as a DCI fan, dont pay too much attention to scores. At the end of the day, the only way to judge these corps in a 100% fair and unbiased way would be to have everyone perform the same show. So just keep supporting your favorite corps, keep screaming your heads off at shows, and be happy with the place they get. All of the young men and women that march are extremely talented and deserve appreciation for their hard work. They don't have a choice in what show they march or with any of its design. So dont take out your anger or disappointment with a show, on them. Your comment on youtube will not change the mind of a show designer or judge. Sure, medals are awesome to have. But the members really love performing because of the crowds and feedback, and the crazy insane experience that tour is. Keep being awesome fans! And lets see what awesome shows 2018 will bring!

This is a very good point! As a person who's going to World Championships for the first time this year scores are something I'm not really going to care for during, I'm just happy to see all the groups putting their hearts out on the field performing and to be able to attend one of the mother of all DCI shows for 3 days straight! I'm excited for DCI 2020!

Everyone says SCV should have won. They are only saying that because the Blue Devils won. If you ask anyone in a drum core they will say that any one in Finals has a shot of winning. People are saying SCV was cheated and Blue Devils shouldn't have won. No one has explained to me why? BD had a undefeated season if they lost to SCV they would have been cheated. It doesn't matter what uniform a core wears. Besides all the members only care about having a great summer. Are scores apart of that? Sure. But most of the time if you ask someone what they care about in drum core the answer will be to have a good summer.

Dennis Delucia! I had a pair of his sticks before they became a Vic Firth product. They were pretty rare among my fellow snare drummers in our high school drumline. This was back before every snare played with the same sticks. I wanted to be heard above the other 6 or 7 snares, so I had the weighty Delucia's. This was 1988 or so. We were good though. Thanks to our instructor, who marched tenors in the '83 Blue Devils. Or was it '82? They won best percussion whichever year it was. And that's my Dennis Delucia story. I never marched drum corps because I couldn't commit, but for the hell of it I tried out for Spirit of Atlanta and was told I could probably march tenors. I should've done it.

Phil Christman drum core used to have international cores but they ended up being really bad because marching band isn't really prevalent in other countries, but non US corps are still welcome

It's called "International" because any group anywhere in the world can form a drum and bugle corps and, provided that they comply with DCI's rules, compete at any DCI-sanctioned show.

Got the BluRay .. no surprise .. Carolina Crown's mic failure on finals night was completely edited out. I was there .. live. 2017 has left me completely unsure of DCI's integrity. Park and play .. you win. Show some adventure and excellence at the same time? .. sorry for your loss. I give DCI one more year to show some semblance of recognition to what I donate financially. Otherwise you might as well be professional football, baseball, etc ...... I'll never give up on the youth involved, but the organization has a lot of explaining to do.

These were great performances, and no one can deny these kids' commitment, talent, athleticism, dedication, etc. Yet as a late 80's alum I find myself sadder each year as DCI resembles a circus (Circus du Soleil) more than Drum & Bugle Corps. Amplified instruments? Men in the Blue Devils wearing pink? Uniforms that look like Halloween costumes? Entire corps entering the field with cells phones in their hands? The tradition, dignity and decorum that attracted me to drum corps is disappearing fast.

Hey Mike, they are getting pretty crazy, a lot of it has to do with they need to allow for more body movement than a traditional uniform did. They also use them to accentuate parts of the show. For example BD's tank top / sleeve portion of their uniform looks like a diamond when they have their horns up...

Visually, the color guards with dancers and no equipment contribute nothing. They are small specs from the audience. One of the best color guards is Blue Coats.

What many do is contribute confusion and over production and a lack of central theme "THE MUSIC" A mish mash of what to watch ? Each section demanding equal rights , Many times overlapping and distracting through its instructional staff looking for individual accolades. I personally wont spend money to view Ballet and Dance on a grass stage with amplified background . Once it really was a Corps.
