I don't understand why people get so freaked out about wind on motorbikes, you're on a motorbike the wind is part of the experience. In my experience a little bit of wind protection, that causes the wind to gust and buffet around the small area of protection, is worse than no 'protection' at all as you have a smooth laminar flow of air over the whole of your torso
@jamest51494 жыл бұрын
The air pressure on your torso on a unfair edge bike, especially an upright means at speed you need to hold on, this means you end up with wobbles and wheelies, a basic lack of control.... fairings are a good idea over and above just rider comfort.

Im 20 years old and live in Macedonia ( its a small country in Eastern Europe,particularly Balkans).On 17th of August 2008,my brother which was a avid lover of bikes crashed his Aprilia SR50R (only a 50cc bike) and almost lost his life,which made me hate every kind of motorcycles and i swore i would never get on one again.11 years later,and obviously far more mature, I realized that if ridden correctly and obviously knowing your limits significantly lowers the chance of dropping.I soon began watching Chase which made me fall in love with bikes and I couldn't stop thinking about them.I am getting a bike this year thanks to you Chase.Thank you for bringing me to this family, ride safe brothers! Chase I love you man but riding a bike build for the twisties on the highway, talking about cops here and there while you are behaving perfectly. Those first rides get boring really quick. Take a bike to the twisties, ride it like its supposed to be ridden and then make your conclusion, this is how I felt about the KTM 690 SMCR review also btw.

Then why is he reviewing bikes like this? Huh bacon whip? “Chase” is good name for him, it’s more like a verb because that’s what he’s constantly doing when riding with other people.
@andru11935 жыл бұрын
Chase one thing i think you missed about supermoto type bikes over the years is that they are designed in such a way that it is easy to influence the weight balance of the bike by sliding back and forth on the seat: Sitting further back in anticipation of a corner helps keep the weight balance shifted rearward allowing the front tire and suspension to steer the bike with greater effectiveness. Sitting forward on the seat is best left for rapid acceleration, especially upon corner exit. There’s a reason the seat is so thin and smooth and the riding position so high up. It all lends a hand to a more active riding style.

First time I don’t understand how you could mess up a first ride. Complaining about the torque on low rpm while riding with the full safety electronics on. Put it in sport, take off the anti wheelie system and you’ll see. Also as few others mentioned, testing a hyper motard on the highway 🤦♂️. SP doesn’t provide an exhaust: it’s optional. You also forgot that SP provides better wheels.
@phammanh26892 жыл бұрын
Yep, i turned off the anti wheelie system, the bike literally power wheelie from 1st to 3rd gear (I'm not great at stunts so that's pretty much it). This bike is sick fun on the road, i'll take this over any supersport liter bikes :))

You have to learn the Hypermotards. It takes longer than a day for us regular riders. Once you do that, the ride becomes as special as it looks. Almost forgot to mention, if you don’t get aggressive, you’re not going to vibe with this bike. Twist the throttle hard in 2nd through 4th. When you make it justtt to the back side of the power band, THEN up shift. Get over the handlebars to stabilize the bike under full throttle. Stay in the corners for as long as possible. Enjoy, and do watch out for 1st gear. She bites.

Chase, with a new bike... tires have to be scrubbed, brakes have to bed in, the engine is breaking in, as well as the electronic aides all affect the bikes performance and handling, you never seem to take any of these things into account. This bike with a couple of thousand miles on it could feel totally different. I always remember you would do nothing but talk about a new bikes rear brake pedal being too low for the first 5 minutes of every video, Mountain Motorsports must have figured that out and adjusted it up before you ride them now. 😂😂😂

Bought a new base model Hyper 950 a month ago. Regarding the suspension it felt much like you're describing it in the vid. In my case, the factory setup was really weird, e.g. the shock preload was set to the extreme highest position, resulting in a very nervous, unstable behavior in corners. Once i adjusted the suspension, it handles quite plush now. I agree with many of your points. Commuting in thick traffic or riding on highways at higher speeds is not was this bike is intended for. Flying around the twisties though with the upright seating position will bring constant smiles. Oh and it helps being tall, i'm 6' 8, that bike was built for me.

@shredcity72175 жыл бұрын
He’s for sure a more conservative rider. I don’t think I could go that slow lol
@Real_MisterSir5 жыл бұрын
agreed. I rode a comparable bike (with less power but same mindset) and let me tell you, if I only rode it slowly I would think it was shit. The fuelling was clunky at half throttle, the suspension was soft under braking, and the engine itself was very rumbly and felt uneasy as if something was wrong.. But when I actually started to get comfortable on it and rode it much more aggressively, it came to life and every drawback suddenly turned into positives. The soft suspension made it super playful and extremely lively in corners and forgiving towards all kinds of punishment. The engine didn't like steady speeds, but was incredibly rev happy and loved rapid acceleration and deceleration, and would cope with wide open throttle at any given moment without hesitation. Its uneasy feel was replaced by a willingness to ride hard consistently and always act predictably under hard riding, and the brakes were perfectly in sync with the soft suspension to get optimal brake feel and grip under hard braking regardless of it being in corners or straights, the whole bike would just soak it up and push you out the corner with a huge smile on your face. If you ever rode it slowly, or conservatively, it would probably feel like the bike was faulty or not well adusted.. But under spirited riding, it became a true animal with perfect synergy between all its performance aspects. I imagine the hypermotard is a similar kind of animal, something you have to punch with a stick to wake it up, but then it also delivers the thrills you'd expect from it.

So, after watching this, I went to my llocal Ducati Dealer (I've been looking at this tbike) and took one for a test drive, and well, Even in crapy winter weather (no snow on road, a bit of ice in a couple of places, but stay away from bridges, and it was okay, bright sunny day), and the two of the things you commented on, I have to say, I rode the RVE (which is aa graffiti cool paint) and the SP, and the SP has FANTASTIC suspension, and myself being an ohlins kinda fan boy, It was perfect, and I believe it has a bit of higher travel? It may be me. But the RVE/regular suspension, I did tweak it a bit to make it harder (I'm a big guy tying to loose weight, 60lbs so far!), but anyway, once I dialed it in before on the parkinglot (and I could have probably done a better job) but it felt really good on the road, and even on crapy pot-holy roads. I LOVE the engine! was able to take it on a windy road (dealer not far from a little canyon) and it is great there! Put some Contiattack SM tires, or maybe even some Michelin Anakee and take it carving!. I'm picking one up. I think I want the SP with the grafitty paint, but I coudl live and be happy with the regular suspension. I do have a Honda CB1000R that I take on long rides, daily type stuff, but I would totally drive this around town, and make it a track/weekend ride bike (canyons, track days, etc). I could go touring with it (Took a 390 adventure on a 9 hour ride before) and yeah, think I'm buying this bike. OC

Then I tried this actual version and I have to admit it got better but it still does not live to it's name. For me, coming from the MX world, it doesn't have what a jumping lady needs. (wish me luck on diet guys) BUt I've actually went from 300lb to about 260 over the past year, and I had to adjust the suspension on my Enduro and road bike. (all my bikes)

Your first ride videos are top dog when it comes to quality.... but can I recommend doing older/unique/cheap bikes? All of your first rides are now brand new and up-market. I understand why from a business perspective, but the trade off is your first rides get boring unless you're actually interested I the bike. Just my 2 cents, love the videos either way.

So for the last few rides I've been wondering, how do you get the further camera angles when you ride? Is it a drone or something because there's never a consistent car in the other lane.

He does two first rides on the same route. First time is the one you watch with his voice. The follow car shots are the second ride thats just for those shots. He has someone drive in front of him with a camera on a gyro thats attached to the back of his jeep
