Looking back at this now. Wow Joe Burrow was pretty impressive, especially after that hit. This guy is truly an athlete. You could see the transition of our offensive scheme to the 4-5 wide spread offense we have now. Coach O and Steve E saw this and said, 'shit we got a player on our hands. How do we use his ability?' and ended up picking up mastermind Joe Brady to orchestrate the best offense the SEC has likely ever seen. This was quite enlightening to watch. Appreciate it VV! UCF alum/fan here I will admit LSU was the better team. We went into this game knowing our defense stinks and we were gonna have to win it with our offense, and the o-line got dominated by the bigger and more powerful LSU d line. I'm proud of UCF keeping the game down to the wire into the last minute without McKenzie Milton, but we got to play better than that if we want to be a consistent top 10 team. Ultimately W/L is what counts. No excuses.

That’s why the SEC is the best college football conference. The SEC has the facts to back this up too. What other football conference do you know if 5 different teams that has won national championships in the 21st century? The best high school football players come to the SEC to play, so it’s a bloodbath in the SEC when it comes to football. The other conferences do not have the same level of competition whatsoever. I don’t see teams from other conferences having to play teams that are ranked year after year and week after week. Other football conferences are kiddie pools compared to the SEC. The top 4 football recruiting schools for this year are all SEC. which conference puts more players in the NFL? The SEC. I see teams like Ohio State and Clemson playing 1 ranked team their entire season, but that’s not the case in the SEC. it’s very hard for SEC teams to stay ranked or stay ranked high when it’s a bloodbath. UCF would have a minimal of several losses if they were in the SEC. You have an easily chance of making it to the playoffs in other conferences when most of the teams you play are kiddie pool teams. There’s a reason why you have been seeing 2 SEC teams in the national championship games in the last few years. Half of LSU’s opponents were ranked this year with a lot of them in the top 10. Do you see Clemson with a schedule like that? Hell no, because their conference is garbage. Clemson would have already lost if they were in the SEC. I’ve been to college football games in other conferences, and the atmosphere and environment in the SEC is very harsh for players to play in. Especially when it comes to away games. Every SEC football game is pretty much a bowl game when they play each other. UCF is not playoff material or national championship material. I’m not saying there aren’t good teams from other conferences either, but they don’t have to compete on a harder level like SEC teams do week after week

What other conference has 5 teams who won national championships in the last 18 years? Those 5 teams also includes teams that have won more then 1 natty too. In fact half then half (10 of the last 18) national championships have been won within the SEC. More then 10 of those 18 natty games includes more then 10 from the SEC too. That says a lot when more then 10 natty games had SEC teams

UCF will have to move some pieces adjust to run the ball with a RB and get a better coach if you wanna take that next step. The stain is that LSU had to play UCF when it should have got OSU. HaloHamstur cause y’all refuse to take offers to play teams like LSU, Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, Texas, Georgia, Penn State, Florida on a year to year basis. Even before Mullen’s comments, y’all decided to schedule UNC and Pitt 3-4 years ago: two schools that might be at the middle to bottom of the ACC. Next year you have a Stanford team that is usually average in the PAC-12. Thats why you get no recognition for the CFP. Your AD damn well knows you don’t have that type of brand recognition,and he refuses to make an adjustment. Why doesn’t UCF want to move conferences? They should at least attempt to make the request. The process is hard, but it shows your willingness to strive and attempt to be a better program.

UCF has done an absolutely fantastic job building their football program over the last five years or so.. I remember when they were little more than a glorified high school with a roster full of kids who were jealous that they didn't get recruited by Florida. If they go undefeated again next season, they had better get their shot to play for the national title. We have seen what so-called established programs lie Notre Dame and Oklahoma have done when given the chance, and it wasn't much.

You can say it was a close game with only 8 points separating the teams, which it was, but if you look at the numbers it’s an entirely different story. Rushing yards, passing yards, completion rating, time of possession, 3rd down defense and offense, and basically every other stat that is critical to winning a football game would show that LSU won with 40 and allowed an extra 8 points to UCF down the stretch while running down the clock to make it 40-32 instead of 40-24. Doesn’t matter in the end but a deeper look definitely shows the bigger difference in the two.

UCF fan and student here. Listen we talked a lot of shit, and if you talk it, you gotta take it back. Sucked to lose, but hey we lost. Still really proud of our team win and lose, and i’m not going to get into excuses because it will be an endless battle with LSU’s defense and our QB, but it doesn’t matter because what matters is the score. I think we all should just come together and agree that our program was trying to pave a path for an 8 team playoff, which can help so many of your teams out! Put aside the hatred for us, and just listen to what we were/are doing. I get why a lot of fans hate us, I get it. But you gotta see the importance of what we did and how great it would be to have an 8 team playoff in the future. And as for the National Champs thing, I think in order for us to take ourselves seriously and for them to even give us a chance, we have to acknowledge that the only Nat Champ is not something you declare, but what you actually play in. Listen, I support my school through everything. But if we want to be taken seriously, even though we went 13-0, we didn’t play the National Championsip, and shouldn’t claim the title. As a UCF fan, I get a lot of why most people hate us. I just hope that we can change this by being let into a better conference. From a football standpoint, we are leaps ahead of the rest of the American Conference and most of the rest of the G5. We have won 4 out of 6 AAC championships, and though we lost today, at least it showed that we can take it to the wire with a pretty good SEC team. Plus there are only 3 P5 teams in Florida, whereas places like North Carolina also have like 3 or 4 P5 teams. There is so much talent in Florida compared to North Carolina, and UCF would be able to utilize it better. I believe we have a long term plan for the future, and this might just be the beginning. We finally lost... hopefully some of the hate will end.

You are better then most of the group of 5, that is a fact. UCF is not elite, or a Blue blood team. They do not recruit at a high level. Their stadium is the size of Ladd Stadium here in Mobile, which the local high school teams use to play their games at. It is a stepping stone job for coached till a better team opens up. My point is, UCF fans have acted like they should be treated like Bama or Ohio State, or USC and so forth. Turning down Florida, then acting like teams are ducking them. Having nobody teams putting up points left and right on them, and thinking that should not factor in to how people view them. Claiming a title, in a time that there is one game that decides that. They deserve the hate. UCF's AD has just poured fuel on the fire for more hate. Teams winning group of 5 conference titles does not bring respect. Going 0-15 just a couple years ago, does not bring respect. it takes time, and UCF has only had a team for a blink of the eye in the big picture. 2 good seasons, does not bring respect, when so many of us have seen group of 5 teams have years like that, then just fade away. Tulane for instance. UCF fans need to understand what they are.

Joe Laton I am not going to mention all of your points but some of them are valid. However, we are recruiting at just about the highest we can recruit for a non P5 team, and I am sure it would improve if we joined a better conference. I believe that UCF also said that they would add roughly 15-20k seats to the stadium because it was built to be easily expanded. Of course we aren’t considered an elite school because we are only a bit over 20 years old as an FBS program. That would be impossible for any team to gain that sort of recognition, so that is just unrealistic. Lastly UCF has the highest (or second highest... not sure) student population in the country, which is generating lots of fans and alumni that will support the team (even more so if they join the big boys)

ilovemanunited Just like Rutgers owned the competition for years to get into the B1G. Oh wait, they don’t compete in any sports honestly. Most teams in the P5 are there completely because they are old. UCF has already accomplished more than a ton of teams in the P5 have, and they are doing it with less money. What does Maryland do better? Maybe they are fine in another sport, but even if they do football pays the bills. There are a lot of traditionally terrible schools when it comes to football and sports, so what exactly have they done to be considered “power.” Also, besides the 0-12 year, UCF has been a very good team in the group of 5, and it’s no coincidence that this was their 3rd appearance in a NY6 bowl game since 2013. If you ask me, they have done a tremendous job of marketing the team so that people now know who we are. 4/6 championships in the conference are owned by none other than UCF. “But they have only been good for like a year. They are going to fall off the map like most teams do.” Yeah... okay.
