Great video man. Felt like I was there with you doing this lol. Great attention to detail. I had my pan damaged from the dealer when they did my upper oil pan at 50K. Since they had to replace the fluid I figured I'm good. I'm at 78K now and the fluid looks a little dark. I'm going to tackle this myself now. Thanks for the video 🤙

Thanks man. Very helpful. I thought I was going to have to purchase 19 quarts. 10 is much better. I knew some stayed in, but wasn't expecting 9 quarts. Either way, much more confident going into changing mine. 2017 F-250 XL with 6 speed torqshift.

Great job. I did this one time and put a 2016 cover on the trans that has a plug. 11-16 has a plug after that no plug. Darn ford saving a dime…

At 128K miles on a 2019 I just bought. I don’t know if the transmission has ever been serviced. I had a mobile mechanic look at the truck and he said he recommends changing the fluid and filter. Is that safe since it isn’t a “flush”?

Yep that’s what I would recommend and you’re totally fine doing that at 128k. I do not recommend doing a flush and neither does the manufacturer just do a drain, filter replacement, and fill and you’re good to go.

Great video! Just a quick question… Do you have to change the transmission filter every time? I had my first flush and fill at the dealer on my 19 SD like yours, at 33,200 miles and they did not replace the filter. On my next change I think I will have them do it. Thanks! 🇺🇸

Hey man love your video. One question though. I had a shop service my 2019 f-350 transmission fluid and the gasket is new and all but it keeps leaking from the gasket. They torqued the bolts to spec but everything but no luck on fixing the leak. Any ideas on what I can do? I make sure I keep a close eye on it and fill it to the appropriate mark. Thanks

Do you know if they used the genuine ford gasket? I’m surprised they didn’t use the old one since it is reusable. I know a lot of these gaskets that come in the non ford filter kits are made of that rubber material or cork and always seem to leak.

@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE well first they used the old one and then I took it home and it leaked on my floor so I took it back and they replaced it with a new one and it worked for about 3 months but now im finding leaks again.

@@aaronhammon1792 only thing I can think of is either they didn’t torque them down correctly or over torqued them or pinched the gasket some how and your sure it’s coming from the pan and gasket?

@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE yes I’m sure. It starts at the pan rim. The thing is though it didn’t leak for like 4 month or so and all the sudden it’s leaking again. Maybe a new pan?

@@aaronhammon1792 From experience if they torqed the bolts but didn't criss cross it can push the gasket and cause leaks. I learned this from trial and error on a different vehicle. But with the size of the gasket this could be the cause.

What about the oil in the converter? You would be leaving dirty oil in the system if you didn’t flush that out?!

If you do a drain and refill around every 30k you will not have any issues. Your right there will be fluid left in the converter but most manufacturers recommend not doing a full fluid flush anymore because it causes more harm than good. They recommend just doing a drain and refill instead.

16-17 quarts is the total capacity of the transmission if it was brand new or dry. If your just doing a drain and filter change you will not get all the fluid out only about half the rest will stay in the transmission and torque converter. So the 8.75 you put in is normal and perfectly fine as long as you're good on the dipstick there's nothing to worry about. Did you tell Ford you were just doing a drain and refill? if so they should have told you it will only take around 8-9 quarts.
