She has been driving a 2010 Cube but it is at almost 200k miles and although zero issues with the car she deserves a newer one. Love your parents as one day they will be gone .

I have a 2018 HRV LX 2wd and I love it. I agree that it is well equiped, especially for a base model. The one thing that it is missing is Honda Sensing which should be put on all models in order to make the car safer. Safety should not only be for those who buy higher models.

Great review :) Thanks for reviewing an LX model, that's the trim level we will be looking at. I don't particularly care for moon-roofs and the road potholes where I live will ruin low profile tires in a heartbeat. Currently have a Civic and a Fit, love Hondas because they never-ever give us any trouble and they get good mileage.

My 2018 HRV LX, AWD, averages 31.5 mpg mixed driving. A little better than the numbers she mentioned. Totally happy with my HRV, great vehicles for sure, plus I actually like the CVT.

I just took a 1000 mile trip with my new 2019 HRV LX AWD, mostly highway, but some local stops as well, and averaged 36.3 mpg.

The 2021 HR-V LX infotainment system doesn't have Android Auto/Apple Carplay (or ours doesn't, at least. It's just the basic radio, CD, USB, Bluetooth, etc. system shown in this video...it isn't touch-screen either, and no satellite radio). So if that's important to you, make sure the car has it. Music sound quality is "pretty good" with the bass and treble turned to the max, but not super great. Sound quality is pretty bad on default bass/treble settings. Also, the USB port is 1.0 Amp and can't even charge our smartphones (I think we need 1.5 Amp for phone charging), so I'm not sure what we could use it for. To plug in a USB stick to listen to music I guess. The Bluetooth works well for music streaming, though. If you're kinda low-tech and prefer an easy-to-use radio, CD player, USB and "good enough" sound, the 2021 LX should be fine.

Nice review. This is a good reliable vehicle with all wheel drive, and that’s a good entry-level price for an all wheel drive vehicle. At $22,000 the HR-V is almost an AWD civic, and 22K would be an awesome price for an AWD Civic.

I noticed (but you didn't mention - a CD player above the 5 inch screen) I want a CD player because as a senior - I have many CDs I still enjoy.

We still own our 2016 HR-V LX and it still fabulous with no problems. Basically nothing really new for 2019 but just a few refresh. like the new headlight with LED daytime running light and LED tail light and a revised center cup holder and front fascia, grill bumper etc.. I'll keep my current HR-V.

enVtine hrv is better than civic. Its all wheel drive. And can be turbo and at 2900 lbs it is very light it would be very very fast at 20psi of boost

Gsfbffx Pdhhdf - no turbo in the US. We get 1.8 no turbo 141 hp. Plus I heard the AWD overheats the CVT. Shame it doesn’t have a proper auto.

Like most people under 40 you don`t seem to know what that slot over the radio is. Also not pointed out is that these have a spare tire and jack. May never need it but I want it there in case I ever do. Many of the reviews don`t point out there is the tilt /telescopic steering column. The mileage is a bit better for for the FWD over the AWD. and is $1400 less money. Good luck finding one, I searched my state and the 2 other closest and found only 2 available. I didn`t see any need for all the tech crap the next models up come with. Yes in case you have not figured it out yet I`m in the well past 40 crowd and I drove off the lot with mine after writing a check for $19,500.

LX has fewer speakers than other hrvs, but does have a CD player, which isn't an option on higher priced ones (unlike Subarus) -- as far as I can see they don't even have an AUX jack to play a portable CD through the speakers (unlike hyundais). So how well does that LX CD player work and how do those four speakers sound? I do like the fact that it also has a USB that I assume can play MP3 files, but I like the CD player for audiobooks from the library and recordings I buy from musician friends and want to play before I get them home to a computer to rip to mp3.

I found the cd player works great but the speakers are average. Ford escape has incredible speakers as stock.

in car models a "coupe" should be pronounced "coupay" and not coup. This is from french naming when a car has 2 doors only and the back seats are only accessed from the front doors.

Hey Congrats on your new HR-V! To change the color turn the key to accessory mode; which is turning the key but not to the point that the car tries to start. When the key is in that position there is a little stick sticking out of the gauge cluster. Push that stick and the color should change. When you found the color you like you are done and just start the car as usual. Let me know if that works for you. - Laura

Some cons after driving it 2 months: The seats are very uncomfortable, very hard, very painful to lower back. The rear lights are very weak and not helpful when backing up in the rain or any dark area. Going from forward to reverse is slow, I have to punch it to catch the gear.

Which trim do you have? The reason why I asked is because I was at the Honda dealer the other day looking at one of these. Mind you I’m 6’2 and seem to fit in it fine. However I do noticed the difference in options, you have more headroom without the sunroof.

I have the 2020 HRV Sport and sadly it doesn't have a cd player in it. I think Honda is phasing out the cd players because my 2011 CRV had a 5 cd carousel, then my 2016 has only 1 now... and non for the 2020's according to the sales rep. I guess, I'll be using my usb stick for selected music from now on.

No Brasil infelizmente o HR-V perde para os principais rivais em itens comuns que outros automóveis inferior já vem como opcionais ou de série. 1 - Chave Star top; 2 - Saída de ar para bancos traseiros; 3 - Teto solar; 4 - Sensores de colisões; 5 - Aquecimento de bancos; e 6 - Ajuste de bancos elétricos. Obs: o carro é muito bom, se acrescentar esses itens e algo a mais... O HR-V voltaria ser líder do segmento!
