This video shows exactly how to install new wakeboard bindings, swap out bindings from another wakeboard, or upgrade bindings. We will also talk about the best wakeboard stances, how far apart your legs should be, what angle the boots should be at, and how to setup your new board to match your riding style. I compare the new 2019 Hyperlite Defacto with the Slingshot Rad binding sets. Hardware, length, width, thread locker yes or no, camber, and rocker all explained. The crazy thing about learning new tricks such as the Raley are usually not a "secret" its all about commitment, get your homies on the dock to yell at you until you grow the stones and just go for it 100%. Theres only so much of the basics you can learn about wake boarding before you plateau. It is all about conquering fear and committing to the new trick without hesitation.
We all love wake boarding and wake skating, we all know there is barely any money in this sport so if you love it too lets all share the content, and help legitimize this sport. New riders are entering wake boarding every year because of the availability of so many wake parks. It used to be you had to have a friend with a boat but now it is easier than ever to go shred some handles with your friends. You don't need an expensive wakeboard to get started or learn wakeboarding. My first board was a crappy liquid force 140 with fins and open toe boots I bought at a yard sale but I fell in love with the sport and now I get to test and tune new boards from Liquid Force, Hyperlite, Jobe, Slingshot, and Obrien at my local park and review them. I even get to help newer riders choose a board that fits well and will really let their individual style shine on the water.
Is there a difference in wake boards, snowboards, and wake skate decks?
Sure is! Everything from length to camber to rocker to width and flex rating.
In snowboarding the length, camber, and flex rating of the bindings is probably the most important to pay attention to. When buying a wakeboard you have to think wide or close stance? weight and height, and how much rocker the board should have. How do you figure out which board has right for you? Well that's why wake parks are so clutch nowadays, just pop into any pro shop and they can explain it all. But what's better than that? Well let me tell you... Trial Days or Demo Days! Demo all of the previous years boards and some of the new ones to see which ones fit your riding style the best then you can usually purchase them at a discount to help your local park clear out for new inventory. This is my favorite way, now younger wakeboarders are taking after snowboarders with bigger boards and narrower binding stances, call me old school but that's hard on my knees (sheesh shut up gramps) But really, if you want to purchase a wakeboard you should go to a demo day and ride a few! The one you love is the one you should get. Plain and Simple.
We have many featured riders here on the channel and we're all just trying to grow wake boarding as a sport together. On the mountains?
We are too, we make regular trips to Keystone Colorado and Park City Utah to tear it up snowboarding, skiing and at the parks. Area 51 is my personal favorite snowboard park but who can really say there all so much fun. We will be doing snowboarding instructional videos with some local camps out west soon including which snowboard to buy, which snowboard binding to buy, and beginner lessons for young snowboarders and skiers.
