Shop for the new Hyundai Elantra: cargur.us/rFD1G
The Hyundai Elantra returns for 2019 with a new front end, some redesigned wheels, a revised trunk lid, new taillights, and a new bumper. The rest of the car adds up to a great value, too, with prices starting just over $17,000.
While the exterior changes may be polarizing, the interior is a nearly inarguable improvement. Extra details and texture breathe life into a previously uninspiring cabin. And tucked within the all but the SE trim lives a full-featured color touchscreen capable of running Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Top-tier Limited trims also include a Infinity audio system with Clari-Fi digital music restoration technology that truly impresses at this price point.
Our reviewer didn’t find the base-engine Elantra to be incredibly engaging to drive, taking particular note of the busy ride, courtesy of a torsion-beam rear suspension. Shoppers looking to mitigate this (and enjoy a little extra power) can opt for an Elantra Sport, which will feature an independent multi-link suspension and a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, available later in 2019.
But the Elantra also offers an impressive array of safety features, ranging from forward-collision warning to a driver-monitoring system. Tack on a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty (and 5-year, 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage), and the Hyundai’s good value becomes even more pronounced.
