Every fisherman I talk too here in Michigan is talking about a trip to lake Simcoe. It's getting very popular here and a lot of guys are planning trips. Don't know if that will have any affect on future fishing or not. But, something to consider as Simcoe becomes a popular destination.

Fantastic video John, thank you. I'd like to take my two boys out for Whitefish this year but am not overly familiar with Simcoe, other than Perch areas. Any recommendations on general location?

You can catch whitefish just about anywhere on the lake. Kempenfelt Bay on the north shore is the easiest. No more than 50 ft deep is your best bet.

Hello! What lure you use this. video. Thakn you for very good video

For the Perch fishing, it looked like a Swedish Pimple. At the start for the White Fish it looked like a Jigging Rap and/or a simple vertical jig (like these -> bit.ly/2ChwccG )

The perch spoon is a slabgrabber. The trout and whitefish spoon is a Sebil Vibrado. It is the #1 selling bait on Simcoe.

Excellent video John. Where do you go to target the big jumbo perch?
@OrilliaFishing5 жыл бұрын
You can get them in a bunch of places - the lake is amazing for Perch. Cooks Bay was great for us last year. We say HUGE schools of shiners and the Perch weren't far away! The east side had just as much good times. I think as long as you can find some little bits of weed remanence you'll get on 'em.

That video was recorded near Barrie.

Are there no walleye in Simco?
@timeonthewaterca5 жыл бұрын
There are but mostly incidental. But every year it seems more are caught so maybe soon I'll have some predictions

Is lake couchicing safe yet?

Getting there. On December 12th there was a dozen ice hounds out there. Most reported 6 inches within 500 meters of Tudhope Park and a little less near Airport Road

What was that fish at 4:25 came into shot looks like it had two eyes on it... 😂😂😂😂
@艾伦-b2w5 жыл бұрын
Looks like a Cisco. Not sure why it looks like it's got two eyes though. Maybe a lamprey bite mark?
@timeonthewaterca5 жыл бұрын
That was a cisco or lake herring.

Great video. What happened after 2005? Sounded like a couple of good years of natural reproduction - then it stopped, but the lake seemed healthy. There’s lots of food, are there any theories of what might it be??? Very interesting.

I don't know. 2003 was an incredible year for many species yet there doesn't seem to be any explanation
