2019 Impala Exhaust Mod - Glass Packs - Demo and explanation.

In this video I discuss (read: ramble on incoherently) the custom exhaust I had installed on my 2019 Chevy Impala with the V6 LFX engine, using glasspack mufflers by AP Exhaust. I also show a couple of clips showcasing the sound.
Overall I'm pretty pleased with the results. It's hardly perfect, but it sounds a lot more throaty and aggressive than stock, and that makes me happy. The LFX is a great engine and deserves to make a little bit of noise!

It just occurred to me that I didn't talk about performance at all, so I just thought I'd touch on that. In terms of power, idk if I really notice any difference. Theoretically there might be like a 5 to 10 HP improvement from reduction of back pressure, but I don't think it's really noticeable. What is noticeable is gas mileage. I'm still collecting data, but it does seem like my fuel economy has improved by somewhere between 2 and 3 mpg. I had a trip counter running for about 7000 miles prior to doing the exhaust swap and averaged 20.1 mpg. I do a good mix of city and highway driving where I live, so that probably is a very reasonable average mpg for a stock Impala. Since doing the swap to the glass packs, I've had a trip counter running for almost 800 miles now, and I'm averaging 23.0 mpg. So that's a 2.9 mpg improvement. 800 miles probably isn't enough of a sample size to get a really true average, but I do feel comfortable saying there's been at least a 2 mpg improvement. In that regard, the cost of the custom exhaust will eventually pay for itself, after like 50 to 60 fill-ups.

I put a 18inch mangapack where the 3rd muffler is and replaced the other 2 with Flowmaster super 44s. It sounds like a stock 370Z now. Love it!

2016 Imp ltd LTZ... Great info and my exhaust has the same layout. I'm going with a longer mid glass pack replacement and dual Deltas in the rear. This video has helped me decide that. Thank you...

Great video thinking about doing something similar with some magnaflow 4x10x11 mufflers in the rear and leaving the stock mid muffler.
