This is an in debth comparison of the all-new 2019 INFINITI QX50 Crossover SUV compared to the 2017 QX50. There are a lot of differences, the vehicles are built on two different platforms at two different factories. INFINITI of Tacoma is an INFINITI store in the Seattle-Tacoma area. The QX50 has been sold under other names in the U.S., previously called the EX35 and EX37 and sold in Japan as the Skyline Crossover. The 2019 QX50 uses an all-new Variable Compression 2.0 Turbo engine. The 2017 QX50 uses the VQ37 engine and the VQ35 back when it was called the EX35.

Yeah 2017 QX50! It's THE funnest to drive crossover out there. Rear wheel drive (or rear wheel bias on AWD models). The 2017 is more of a drivers car. The 2019 is just to please the masses.

SUVs are becoming more family haulers. The performance segment will be defined with sedans. Wonder why they are making them in Mexico now? They sure won't charge you less.

Enjoyed the comparison between the two models very much. Knowing that the 2017 was manufactured in Japan is very important information and based on their Kaizen culture I know I would be getting a much better quality product than the 2019 manufactured in Mexico.

Having driven both, the older QX50 IMHO was peak Infiniti. It was basically a Porsche Macan competitor, the new one is a Mazda competitor. Infiniti made a huge mistake here.

Interior n exterior Design wise I liked the new 2019 model but engine wise I still prefer RWD V6 engine!! Why Infinti can't bring back dual clutch 7-speed Automatic instead of CVT on a cross over !!!

Notice at 26:20 He floored it and the car didn't move any faster than the cars surrounding all you heard was the RMP raging as the CVT struggled to engage to provide any torque to advance forward. The Nissan CVT is absolute garbage and it doesn't matter which year or model Nissan. They refuses to accept it in the scheme of it all they have lost hundreds of thousands of customers that they refused to help even when their transmissions failed under warranty. Honda, Toyota now run laps around them for the last decade in sales and reliability. The feel between the two models is literally night and day. I drive a first Gen Infiniti EX35 Journey AWD and a 2017 QX50 they both are literally built the same. I have had fewer issues with my 08' it has 130k miles never had any major failure almost everything is still original I had a major service done on my EX35 recently and they gave me a loaner 2019 qx50 It was not as nice as my 17' which has red/burgundy leather seats ETC. Again the car was nice but the powertrain was no where near the previous Gen. How could you go from a 3.7 Liter V6 not CVT to a 2.0 4cyl with a CVT the fact that most Infiniti owners will gladly pay a bit more at the pump than have an underwhelming driving experience. I never complained about the the gas milage on my 08' because the feeling I got from driving it is unlike anything else the rear wheel biased Attessa AWD corners like a 350Z on steroids. Please no more CVT's.

I’m currently shopping for a 2017 QX50, I’ve found one with 29k miles on it, AWD for $22,780… and I cannot wait. I’ve never purchased a fun car, this thing looks super awesome. I called the dealer and he thought he might upsell me to a 2020 … but when I relayed to him no I’m specifically looking for a 2017 model with low miles because 1. Naturally aspirated (no weird Turbo repairs or spool up boost delay, and 2. The 3.7l VQ engine is an award winning long time tested nearly bulletproof design, and 3. I WANT a Rear Wheel biased car because it’s awesome…. Yeah he was like “damn it this dude knows the truth”😂

Contrary to what he said and based on the sound in the video the 2019 QX50 was much noisier than the 2017 QX50.

@@joannmanning7544 The 2017 works better with an iPhone as you get album art on the display. Unfortunately I don't use my iPhone when I'm off work so the pixel has to fill in sufficiently. I have the awesome Bose system with the Spotify and the Spotify equalizer application which runs in parallel with the music streaming service and the sound is phenomenal

Race some chick in a 2020 Lux QX50 no contest. My AWD 17 torched the new version. Yes my 2001 Jeep 4.7 V8 GC gets better mileage. Finally got my 2017 windows tinted. Made in Japan 🗾
