Hi a couple of comments: you're incorrect that you can only get the full ProPilot Assist/Steering Assist features with the Direct Adaptive Steering option. I have a 2021 QX50 Sensory AWD without Direct Adaptive Steering and it has the full ProPilot Assist suite with Steering Assist where it will steer itself to stay in the lane (if you have the feature turned on and you must be in Intelligent Cruise Control mode, not "fixed speed" cruise control). I'm pretty sure its standard on Sensory trim. There's a button next to the HUD and rear liftgate that turns Steering Assist on/off, it might have been off on your tester (it was off by default when I picked up my car). Second on the mileage, I think Infiniti is now lowballing their MPG estimate numbers for some reason. I originally owned at 2019 QX50 Essential AWD and it was rated at 29 MPG highway. When buying my 2021 I was surprised to see the MPG on the sticker was 28 MPG Highway, since its the exact same engine/transmission as my old 2019 model. I was happy to find that my highway MPG is exactly the same on the 150 mile highway trip I routinely make between Chicago and Wisconsin, just over 30 MPG with the ICC set to 78 MPH. Compared to the 17 highway MPG I used to get in my 2005 FX45 for the same trip I'm very happy with the QX50's MPG.

I have 2010 G37 coupe, 2015 Q50 Red Sport, 2017 Q60 Red Sport, 2020 QX50 Sensory and last week trade-in my 2020 QX50 for the 2021 QX50 Essential with appearance package. The 2021 drives a bit more responsive than the 2020 model and the software I think has been reprogrammed. I know what performance car drives, I owned few of them prior to the QX50 and I used to bomb in the Malibu canyon, Asuza to Crystal lake. Since the birth of my daughter and working at home during this pandemic, my driving situation have changed. I'm more in comfort and cruising now when driving. Bang for the buck. 2021 QX50 still have good discount and incentives and way below MSRP compared to competitors were all of them are marking up 3 -7k above MSRP.

On my second QX50 with few issues. On my 2019 had front plate holder bracket loose and almost lost plate, had power door lock fail on passenger rear door and then had fan blower motor control fail. When ne, took it for 3500 km drive over two weeks and it was so comfortable. I do find it a bit small but local dealer really isnt pushing the QX60 which I would move to as we camp lots and need the extra space. Also, its the autograph trim not autographie.

You convey a lot of information in handy succinct bursts. Thank you for the methodology of your reviews and candid share of interpretation of what Infinity is offering in the QX50. I had a good experience purchasing a new Infinity and am coming back to pick up a QX50. My views bring a different angle that may be of interest and helpful to some buyers considering different options: What I like about this car is the blend of lovely shaping and the smoothness of the ride accomplished by the VCT Variable Compression Turbo and the CVT Continuously Variable Transmission. If I wanted faster acceleration, pinpoint steering or tight cornering there are far better options. The VCT and CVT create a peaceful rolling power with a lot of subtle adjustment. I disagree that the QX50 hovers lacking clear gear engagement as you describe, rather I like the unusual smooth float as the purpose is to avoid the sharp power expressions in favor of a more boat-like water cutting experience as the car aerodynamically cruises down the road. It has its own language, with some discounts clearly, still the full package is quite nice and avoids a lot of the edginess that some of us don't want interfering in conversations that flow better in the smooth transitions atmosphere. Additionally, I am just not too particular about some of the interior features and find the Infinity approach sufficient and in many ways excellent. I did learn a lot from your comments and demonstrations and appreciate the energy and experience you invest! Thanks again.

The infotainment center and gauge cluster are so “long in the tooth.” And I don’t know why they gave it the troublesome Jatco CVT transmission when most of the 2022 Nissan models now have a 9 speed transmission. It is powered by an innovative turbocharged four-cylinder engine that uses variable compression-called VC-Turbo, or VC-T for short. Read this analysis to better understand how it works. The engine makes 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque and pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that directs power to either the front or all four wheels. The engine seamlessly swaps between high compression during steady cruising and low compression during hard acceleration. While it never exhilarates when the pedal hits the metal, only those seeking a seriously quick crossover will be disappointed. Unfortunately, the engine is loud under heavy throttle, and the CVT makes this worse, especially around town.

Thank you for your review. I wish they would have upgraded the rear windows to wrap around like the new 2022 QX60. They look so sharp! I'm currently shopping for an SUV and have watched countless 2020-2022 reviews. Based on what I've seen from others, the front cabin interior needs improvement. Wireless charging, better cupholders and storage for sure. it all seems outdated including the double infotainment system. A single screen provides a much cleaner and updated look. A little constructive criticism..when you are in the backseat you talk about how the seats slide/tilt which is a 'rare' feature but instead of showing this, you show clips of an empty backseat. Show those 'rare' features instead of photo images. We watch these videos so we can see a cars features. Please focus on them. And this is just semantics, but I believe the trim level you are referring to is the Autograph and not 'autography'. Thank you again for your review.

You have done a very good review but missed an excellent mark by your conclusion. You concluded that you wouldn't recommend it over the competitors in the segment. That might be right, but you failed to name the cars in the segment you would recommend.

Is that as far as the seat will rise up? It looks like you can barely see over the steering wheel. I really do like the looks of the QX50, but agree; not a fan of the CVT. I enjoy watching your reviews. Thanks!

Dang!! Just trade it my 2020 Optima 4 this Model. With this review idk what to think anymore..Decisions Decisions... well....not all expensive cars and luxurious models are always the best purchase by others. Just paying I guess? For the looks. Ughhh besides...in the end now a days is all about who has the better color, model car or expensive and Taste breaks down into genres.
