Great job again Mark! Nice adding in the zip ties. I've actually started carrying a small carabiner since I had 2 zips snap on me last year. Excellent video!

THERE IS NO CHEATING GOING ON THIS IS A FIRST DOWN 100%! This statement is correct; in modern football, the official first down marker is not the pole of the chain, but the horizontal orange part of the flag situated above the chain, which is used to visually determine if the ball has crossed the first down line. Key points about this change: Accuracy: Using the flag as the marker provides a more precise measurement compared to just relying on the pole, which could lead to discrepancies depending on where the pole is positioned on the field. Visual clarity: The bright orange color of the flag makes it easier for officials and viewers to see exactly where the first down line is. Chain crew role: While the flag is the primary marker, the chain crew still plays a crucial role in accurately measuring the distance to the first down line when necessary

I will be apart of the chain gang this Friday for my high school but I am still having trouble figuring this out?

If I am box man then will the official tell me where to go all the time? Or do I have to figure it out myself? I am a volunteer so I don’t have much experience

@@kathleenjaime1359 Hi Kathleen and thanks for volunteering to work on the chain crew. The head linesman should have an extensive pregame discussion with you aand the rest of your chain crew prior to the game. Try to get there 30 minutes before game time and make sure you tell him that you've never done this before. The head linesman will indicate where you should move on each play. It's up to him to explain to you when you should move. Typically you will move to the next spot once the head linesman has indicated the spot of the end of the previous play and is backing off the field. At that point, you would move toward him and flip the box # to the next down or in the case of a first down, back to 1. Stay engaged (talk) with the head linesman. Tell him what down and how far it is to the first down on every play (for example 2nd down and 8) Don't worry, just the fact that you were willing to watch this video tells me that you will do great!

@@kathleenjaime1359 Kat- the as the down marker, some crews are different, Its a chain of command, the referee tells yhe HL, the HL will tell the down marker. you will always be on the foremost part of the ball at each snap. you never move, until beckoned, and verbal and non verbal communication will solve most of your issues. I do not say a lot to my crew in the box, I give them simple hand movements and DO NOT MOVE UNTIL I CALL FOR YOU. I will communicate throughout the game on what I want. but a pre game is a must, unless the crew and I have marched up and down many times!

Hello Bro, I have a question, are you governed by the NCAA regulations?
@MarkAndrewsOCFOA5 жыл бұрын
Hi Diegore, that's a great question. Our association is in California, so we operate under federation rules (NFHS). I should probably make that clear in my videos.
