I just got this 2020 Mercedes Benz A220 as a loaner car as I get my Mercedes serviced. Wow! I am very impressed with the interior and the performance of this compact car. It is beautiful inside and out for a compact car and great performance for a compact car. If I was getting a compact car I would definitely get this car. It is fun to drive!

Thank you for your great video. It helped me make the decision to get my own 2020 A220. I totally love this car. A lot of fun. Great handling. And the technology is awesome. While mine was spec’d up enough to get it into the high $40’s, I honestly feel it was totally worth it. And yes....the ambient lighting is a must. Thanks again.

I have a real question, the gauge screens, looks to me that there is an awful lot of glare on them while driving judging from when you all were videoing the cluster during the driving portion. Can someone tell me if this is indeed true? Seems like without a cowl you will be seeing a lot of reflections in this.

It was bad in 4 areas. -Bad off the line starts. -really bad driving around town below 30 MPH. -Bad head room in the rear for some people. I would always hit my head getting out. -Bad visibility out the rear and when making lane changes.

I like the new A-Class; it’s surprisingly fun to toss around on a turn. And that engine really punches above its weight. The only major paint point I can think of with the cost-cutting is the awful sun visors. When you swing the sun visors to cover the doors, they don’t cover much of the window. They don’t even extend either, meaning if you’re driving a while with the sun in your left eye, the sun visors are rendered useless.

Aside from the comments on the MBUX system, I agree with EVERYTHING he says about the A-Class. The A-Class is the spiritual successor to the old 190E/D Class. To the people in the know, the W201 aka the Baby Benz and is worthy of the same name.

Very true. But I do wish they would look at building an actual successor to the W201, not just a spiritual successor. The W201 (like the W124 / W123) were more about aiming for the most solid interpretation of the specs possible, using hard work and common sense. Cost of materials, testing and construction methods being a side effect of the process rather than a hard requirement. Its unfortunate that somewhere along the way, this essential ingredient of what an MB is - was mistaken for "Luxury" or something. So now the whole show is driven by accountants and marketting people with a primary drive to create "perceived luxury". Not saying the new models are "bad cars" - its just ... urgh ! I wish that Mercedes would - maybe just as a concept car - get their best engineers together, give them some time and money out the marketing budget, and tell them "Use all the tech know how we have to just design and build the best possible car that will start and run like new every day for 100 years". Dont care how ugly it is, dont care how good the infotainment system is, dont care how "luxurious" the cupholders are, dont care how much it costs to build - just build something good that will last 100 years.

I was choosing between this and the G70. I went with the G70 because of the 3.3t engine. However I would still take this car any day of most other ones I was picking from. The tech in this car is amazing. Had the AMG 45 been out I would have taken that car over the G70.

No it's not. MBUX works without multimedia. You just wont have access to navigation features.

Still not sure why Mercedes refuse to use a Lift-back style trunk on the CLA, CLS and AMG GT 4-door to better compete all the other 4-door coupés in this category If they sold the Audi A3 harchback in the USA I think I'd still take that as it'll be cheaper to fix and easier to upgrade being based on the VW Golf 😊

Event Horizon that’s not a four door coupe. It’s a hatchback. Which Benz has outside the US. It’s the A Class, wheee the A Sedan and CLA come from. But Benz won’t sell it here because hatches don’t sell. Also, the AMG GT 4Dr is a sportback, has a hatch.

In Australia our government are doing their best to be unhelpful about moving to electric. We have huge areas of the country that can't be accessed easily in electric because of a lack of chargers. In the US you definitely have a point.

Dan G could not agree more and to make a bad situation even worse, the price difference between owning a Tesla in Australia and USA even with FOREX allowed for, is a disincentive and not to mention the risk involved long term with ownership of Tesla given E Musk shenanigans . And I am not going to bring up Tesla Quality Control issues and how difficult it would be to deal with aftermarket mitigation of these issues in Australia with OEM parts poor availability. 😂😂😂

I don't know, man. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the "old" CLA it was so bad! and ugly.. and judging by this interior it is just as ugly as the previous one. I'd give it two stars for the effort but it really doesn't have anything to offer, the A5 sportback is better looking in and out and the 4 series is as well.. and I imagine they're both faster as well

Mazda 3 is slower, has way less tech, and doesn't get IRS in AWD trim like this Mercedes. It's not in the same class. Psh !azda still has a six speed auto from the 90s

Hilarious that they want 50,000 for this vehicle. Absolutely no value in this car. 0-60 in 7.1. Honda accord 2.0t 0-60 5.7 in the mid 30s price. The Honda also comes standard with Honda sensing blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control etc. I truly think the only people who would buy this are people who know nothing about car's or simply want the cheapest Mercedes so they can say they own a Mercedes.

The car is tempting as a 3 year lease covered under factory warranty, but scary to own after the warranty expires. If the MBUX system goes out when the car is older with high miles, the car will be basically totaled out. Never mind costs of engine and transmission failures. I'd actually feel more comfortable about repair costs and reliability in an out of warranty Model 3 than this thing.
