See, I watched The Wind in the Willows with my sister, and something we both noticed is that at no point in the movie does Mr. Toad go to hell. 😆 The people that made the ride just decided to send you to hell at the end. 😆 I actually didn’t believe my sister when she told me. I had to go on the ride for myself. I remember getting off the ride and just thinking “what the actual hell?”. 😆
@coasterjudge3 жыл бұрын
The reason for that, was so that the "drivers," and Mr. Toad, would actually face consequences for their reckless driving. In the film Mr Toad learns his lesson in repents, but there wasn't enough time to tell that part of the story in such a fast-paced ride, so the imagineers decided to use Hell as a shortcut. I imagine today they could have found a way to make it work, but in the last 67 years, the scene has since become a staple of the ride.

@@coasterjudge That sounds like the best explanation for it. Still, what a way to end a ride. I’m not saying they should take it out or anything, it’s a classic. I’m just saying that first time you go on it is a bit of a surprise. To be fair, though, the extra heat in the room in that scene is a nice touch.

Same this was my LITERAL fav fantasyland ride. It introduced me to the movie and IDR if I saw the Movie first or the Ride but It was released on VHS at the time. I think Disney in WDW just didn't give it the benefit of the doubt at the time that it could do the same for millions of other kids like me. Toad has a huge draw and people love him, just look at the popcorn bucket and the many tributes to him lal over.

I can't really see Disney ever doing away with a 1955 original, aside from maybe Autopia. Considering the intense backlash of the removal of WDW's Mr. Toad all the way back in 1998, I can't possibly imagine what kinds of reactions would follow an announcement to can the original.

I always thought this ride was like a dream sequence warning toad about the dangers of going driving drunk. It seems to play like this....He drinks, he gets in his car in his fancy manor and falls asleep at the wheel. In his dream he dreams he crashed his way out of Toad hall, seeing those weasels run amok again in his beloved home, down the countryside past cops, and into downtown London below, causing all kinds of havok, seeing random people he knows that caused him trouble haunting him, like Winky and the Lawyer, who once again helps get him sent to the Tower of London, which he tries to escape but winds up being hit by the very same train he used to escape the first time. This sends him direct to hell where once again that dreaded lawyer as SATAN HIMSELF, and the weasels as Devils (they laugh the same), and the dragon at the end about to finally do him in for his eternal torment, but then wakes up back in the manor, decideds to get out of his car and go for a walk instead. And there you go Mr Toad's Wild Ride. Either that or Toad DID go to hell but he caused so much trouble that it spat him back out

With a name like "Mr. Toad" for a ride in Fantasyland at Disneyland, you'd think this is gonna be a super cute, kid-friendly ride... You'd be wrong 😂 I rode this for the first time last weekend, and from what I pieced together you're going on a seemingly drunken hit-and-run rampage that ends in you being found guilty, executed by train, and sent to Hell. Pretty dark for Disney! Also, I can't for the life of me understand why 99% of the props and scenery look like cardboard cutouts, especially when this ride has been around for 67 years.
