I have a base Scat Pack, not the 1320, and I eat 5.0s for breakfast, only thing that gives me a run for my money is a 10 speed, but depending on who has less fuel in their tanks is what wins.

Yep, same here. My previous '16 Scat Pack Challenger would dip into the 11's on stock 245 tires, and surprised the hell out of a lot of cars. Best pass on 245's was 11.97 @ 116.4 with a 1.76 60ft. Took a lot of trial n error to figure out what the car wanted, but once I did, 12.0-11.9 consistently.

Those 1320 scat packs are at home on the strip with things like the trans brake and special suspension. But if you look the mustang is consistently trapping at higher speeds, with a decent tire the mustang will take this race every day. I know that 1320 is technically stock, but it has lots of drag advantages when compared to a base model scat.

Everyone at the track got jacked up for him during and after that time. The cool thing is that He is one of the old timers at the track and was. So excited when he bought the car. He broke it in enough and came to the track a few Saturdays ago. He Got to the Water and we were all there to watch him run again and after a great burn out, he jokingly said he was going to smoke the record and the mustang next to him like he forgot to put it in gear. Lol. His 1st trip down the strip with it was the 11.55 he clicked off!! Well one out of two promises was not bad lmao!! He did smoke the 19 mustang 10 speed as promised but he fell short of the record 🙉👍 I'm sure he thought he would not get close to. At the time it was 11.58?? Or close to that. Anyhow he's been a track rat since the early 60s running Max Wedge and Hemi Cars till the mid 90s. Now he's 72yrs old and back kicking butt in his Mopar. Ps- He even went to the Stang driver after the race just to make sure that he knew he was messing with him and not serious. Then he offered him another run with lane choice. Class all the way, the guy took the other lane and got beat 11.59 to 12.32. It was great. Did you get to see the record run? That was quick. I run a 9 sec 69 runner and a 10 sec 70Charger and watching these new mopars/cars Flying like that from the factory is so cool.

1320 is a cool car for sure, but like most other hemi challengers.... too expensive. I looked at one recently that stickered at $46k plus, and the dealer wouldn't budge on price. I have a 2018 mustang GT with e85 tune and drag pack and headers, total investment of $40k and would embarrass the 1320 quite handily. A stock 1320 may be a tic faster than a stock mustang gt, but mustang can be had cheaper, and with nothing more than a canned 93 octane tune and some cheap drag radials....game over for the 1320.

However, the mustang is still a little faster, and the aftermarket support for mustangs is far better than any other performance car on the market. Dodge makes some cool muscle cars, but as stated...expensive, and hard to mod.

Not equal. The 1320 is the fastest NA car and had less problems then the Ford's too. The engine tick which was actually piston slap for a good amount of mustang and the Manuel trans shift forks snapped like a twig. They have had many buy backs and. Rebuilds . they are having trouble with the 10 speed starting to slip too. No the Mustang is not as fast as the scat 1320, not nearly as comfortable and it has had big problems in general.

Considering the weight difference ,I'm impressed with the Challenger . Man,if dodge would put there powerplants in a lighter car , could you just imagine some of the times they would run !! Had a guy tell me in dispute about hemi engines . That ford , Chevy , Toyota all have hemi engines in top fuel ! I said yes ,but there all Chrysler design 500 cubic inch hemi engines used in all of them . Dragsters and funny cars both !! They just put there logo on the engine . I owned 2018 mustang gt 10 speed and raced with scat pack challenger and scatpack charger roll race and dig race i smoked them all..in drag strip is different you need to have a good reaction time all depends the driver to win in drag strip but in reality roll race and dig race in the streets scat pack is slow boat..especially in track race theyre slow theyre just big engine heavy car..

Dodge is sticking to making muscle cars, big comfy cruisers with a lot of power for the straight line. Those were both pretty close and good races, the challenger comes out of the hole quicker but the 5.0 has a higher trap speed thus the 1320 is better off the line and the 5.0 has top end, Mustang traps 115 Challenger traps 113/112

The current Challenger is the only true 2 door muscle car remaining. The Camaro has become chiefly a sports car, while the Mustang is a combination of the Camaro and Challenger. I love how a Challenger is a cruiser, drag car, show car, car to have fun with, and a speedster on big ovals, with comfy ride quality and a roomy interior vs the other 2.

If I run 11.5 and the car next to me runs 11.9 but crosses the line first cuz of a better reaction time, my car is still the faster car....and that is really all that matters when comparing performance.

Yet funny there answer to already shit tq is to put a supercharger on it rather than a turbo or twins maybe utilizing the full potential. I can put a 572 in so is it really a good use of space and is it really more efficiant when 4 valves and multiple cams cause a shit ton more heat friction wear and tear on that aluminum iron sleeved motor racing an excess 1000 rpm per gear to do less over 1 quarter of a mile than a older heavier 2 valve design.
