Instructing Zumba classes can be VERY a lucrative business.
How? Can you make real money? Does it pay the bills? YES!
You WILL have to be entrepreneur minded and consistent with building your business outside of your class times..... online.
I am sharing some strong business tips & advice from my own experience, that I use for my Zumba classes in Sherman Oaks starting back in January of 2011.

Yes, girl... it is pretty amazing to think of the people that come to your class for so many reasons.... they need a break, they need 'their time', they might need their own 'dance therapy', or just to release and have fun in a way they can't otherwise.... I have a huge passion for Zumba and having my own solo career as an instructor too but just like anything, I had a lot of questions regarding the salary and making an actual living out of Zumba. Hopefully, in 2021 I'll be able to get my degree in sports and Zumba too 🤩

Hi Eartha, I've just recently become licenced as a Zumba instructor from the UK and I love some of the tips you share on here especially about getting people to real classes when the pandemic is over. Hi Aitana🤗 Thank you for stopping by my video and for your question. As a new instructor, I recommend doing your set for 1 month. The same. Then add 1 or 2 new songs into your set each week or every 2 weeks. It gives your people challenge, new-ness, along with success with the choreos they have come to know. Keep a notebook of past choreos..... Flashback classes are super fun too🤗👍🎉💯

I've been dancing salsa for 20+ years... I would love to teach zumba with more of a salsa, bachata and merengue flavor... Can I use music of my preference? Also one big fear is putting the steps together... I've never counted steps... How difficult is it to choreograph songs? by the way thank you for your video so informative!

Hi @lamirada90638, 🤗thank you for stopping by my video and for your comment. GREAT questions! Yes, you can use your own music, however, be sure to keep the Zumba formula as far as the different styles of music. Without using the formula, you will have a great dance fitness class, but it would not be true to 'Zumba'. The most important part of choreographing is to know your song inside and out. Feel what your body wants to do naturally and have fun with it. I also keep a notebook of my choreos, it really helps me to remember when I write it down. Also, as a ZIN Now member, you will receive tons of songs and choreography videos for you to use. Zumba is amazing like that. Once you become a Zumba instructor, you have the option to be a ZIN Now member.... it is WELL worth it.... I pay $30. a month but I believe it has gone up a bit since then. Again, WELL worth it! I think I know what you're are saying but I've been to classes where yesterday do you use some Zumba stuff but you can clearly see some are steps that they've thrown in there what I mean is they don't fall under Zumba I guess the real question is does the entire song have to be with Zumba steps or can you add steps of your own? And if so then how many Zumba step should be in a song to qualify under Zumba? I know I know I'm full of questions! Thank you so much for your help! Not very familiar is zin is it the monthly membership to some but once you become an instructor?

@@lamirada90638 🤗Yes, the Zumba 'formula' is an array of musical genres as opposed to 'moves'... so you want to definitely include your Salsa, Reggeaton, Cumbia, Bollywood/Bhangra, pop, hip hop, etc.....I like to include House and Electro Swing too...., what makes the class 'Zumba' is basically thinking about it as a musical trip around the world in 1 hour. You can absolutely choreograph your own. When I put my class together, as I choreograph, I'm thinking of diversity. In the music and in the moves to give a complete workout for the body and a fun experience for the mind.

And - you are not performing.... you are 'giving'.... giving an experience, giving joy, giving freedom. Just have fun and have some 'go-to' moves in mind in case you space out, LOL.... nothing wrong with that.... If YOU are having fun - your people are too. Rock on!

Hi S Rivera, thank you for your reply as well. The 'rabbit hole', is when I am looking up music and see all the side suggestions from KZbin. It's so fun to discover new music that may not be in main stream circulation. For Groupon, I post on my Facebook Biz page as an item in my 'shop'..... beyond that, Groupon is great at all of their own promotions. If someone is seeking Zumba, they will type, 'Zumba' & your city or area code and then your Groupon will show up for them. I hope this helps. The best of success to you.

How do you feel about doing Zumba at the park for people after work? How do you keep up if people have paid you or not?

Hi Blake, first you would make sure you have any permit/s you need from your city to do a fitness class on the park grounds. Outdoors, it can be tricky, you will get people there that are paid and then people on the outskirts just dancing,... not necessarily in your class.... so if you are ok with that, then a public park would be a place that wouldn't drive you crazy, lol. As far as making sure participants of the class have paid, I HIGHLY recommend an assistant... anybody who can monitor the crowd and also take care of any situation that might creep up. I would recommend talking with the park and scheduling something indoors, like in their gym, instead of outdoors. That will also greatly help with the check-in process. If you don't have a helper.... let' everyone know to arrive 10 min. early to check in and you will start at 5 minutes after the set time... then you can close the doors, can't lock them for safety reasons, but you can close them and put a sign on the outside saying to either check in with you after class or if you are feeling strict about that... an apology but no body can enter after the doors have closed. Hi Whitney🤗 I have a waiver that every new person signs. And for music, I rent from a studio and the studio pays the ASCAP fee. If you own your own studio, you will pay ASCAP a fee for each speaker in the room.

HI, thank you for stopping by my video. Zumba corporate does not pay instructors. They pay their employees. As an instructor, you can create your own business or seek employment at gyms or studios. If you teach can from home, especially now in the shut down, definitely go for it. You will just need to do a lot more on the tech side..... ZOOM, for example and online payments. If you choose to stream from your ZIN account, you have to use Zumba approved music only. That is the only difference between you ZOOMing from home or streaming from your ZIN. I hope that helps. OMG, that is so AWESOME!!! I am so happy for you!!!! I don't use any scheduling service, but if you are overwhelmed and can't keep up with individual check-in's... MindBody is a great service. User friendly, however, you still DO need someone checking in people who have not used the online sign in.

Hi PV, thank you for stopping by my channel. You might have a fear of 'messing up' or 'will people like me'.... bottom line, your vibe will attract your tribe my friend. You cannot please everybody and further more, everybody is NOT your tribe! You do 'you'! You will rock it!!!! I'm crazy in my class.... that doesn't suit rigid types... I know that... but WOW, you should see my 'tribe' get down! LOL You be YOU! ... and there is no such thing as 'messing up'.... one key element... 'know your music'.... if you forget a move, you can go with the flow of the song because you know it inside out/upside down/backwards/forwards... go into every class prepared with knowing your songs first. You will be great!
