I have this car. I find the Sears very comfortable. I drove this FWD during a BLIZZARD in NY and had ZERO ISSUES. Didn't get stuck. Didn't skid or slide. It's a great car

The Kicks is an inexpensive urban commuter car with lots of space and utility. What Nissan has done well with the Kicks is the packaging of the features, especially with the fully loaded SR version. A fully load Fit with way less features is more expensive. An equivalent equipped Golf, Civic, Corolla, Soul or CH-R can cost $4000 or more. If you don't need the AWD, the fully loaded Kicks SR is much cheaper than an equivalent equipped HRV, CX-3, Crosstrek, or FWD Rogue Sport. Nothing wrong with choices. I prefer the seat comfort of the Kicks over the competitors. The steering is great; over boost for easy maneuvering in parking lots, and on the highway, little of no assist for better stability. Nothing wrong with the horsepower trade off for fuel efficiency, especially if you are using it as an urban commuter. For this use, it is quite a peppy car.

This reviewer totally missed it with his review you can obviously tell he’s got it out for Nissan, why don’t you talk about the pricing of all the cars you’re comparing it to, I actually own the 2020 SR and the car is amazing, it doesn’t pretend to be anything but a good value that rides higher has excellent safety features great gas mileage and the room to carry enough cargo for most everyday tasks. It really amazes me how these reviewer‘s compare a vehicle to something totally different then what it is, the car isn’t for everybody but because he didn’t like it doesn’t make it a bad vehicle. All this review did was make me want to look elsewhere for a review that’s honest and to not take the reviews from him seriously. We do appreciate how blatantly biased you were, that in itself shows your credibility.

This is a very inaccurate and off base review! Comparisons were made with more expensive vehicles, comparing this to a Subaru Cross Trek is bogus, they are nowhere near each other in price! Seats are very comfortable to by far the majority of reviewers and owners! Ride is very comfortable, I'll bet this guy never even checked the tire pressures, which were probably over and unevenly inflated... You don't get this kind of gas mileage, at this price, this kind of utility space or safety features at anywhere near this price anywhere else... He didn't even mention the LED headlights or around view monitor on the SR trim... It's no speed demon, but the gas mileage is nice... Completely casual and uninformed review!!!

Man this guy. I own a 2018 Kicks SR no issues in the snow. AWD is only helpful from a stand still. With snow tires is much better than AWD with all seasons . I think the seats are great. It's one of the reasons I bought it. I have an extremely bad back and no issues because of the height and the seats. For the $ it's a great little car.

Nissan has way more safety features for significantly less money. Nissan = affordable. Volkswagen is for folks with deeper pockets. Heck the price point between a Volkswagen Golf and a Nissan Kicks don't even compare especially when you consider dealership incentives! Next time, have a normal person review this car. I've owned a golf for 4 years and had the kicks as a rental for a week. I would never pick up this Nissan over the golf. Golf is the best selling car of Europe. It's the best selling car of VW, and VW group is the best selling car group of the world. Only a great car would do this much. But somehow Americans prefer things like the kicks, small maked up lifted compact cars for $20k plus. I just cannot understand it.

I've got a Kicks & I find seats very comfortable! Kicks definitely needs the Jukes 1.6L Turbo & its 188 HP - hot about a Kicks NISMO? + the 6 sip manual from the old Juke...Come on! NISSAN!!! The Steering on the Kicks is excellent, very direct and linear - don't know what this guy is talking about! AND, the handling & road manners are also first rate, not sure we're driving the same vehicle! Finally, this vehicle's Price makes it a compelling proposition! This vehicle is a Turbo & manual trans away from "Kicking" asphalt! But it's still a very good vehicle, especially considering its Drive/Value.

AWD is so overrated for snow. Good weather tires are the most important thing. Front wheel drive and good tires are absolutely fine in heavy snow. Additional power to all wheels doesn't matter without tire traction.

I drive this in Canada, in a city ranked in the world’s top 5 in annual average snowfall. As long as you’ve not driving in a snow storm, you will be ok. It’s a great car for the city, with very effective safety features. The fuel economy is awesome. The acceleration saved me from reckless drivers. However, if your city does not have a good snow removal system or if you drive in the country in winter or if you have to drive in severe snow conditions (Canada-level), then prefer a 4WD to the Kicks.

Hear! Hear! I just don't get this category of "sub-compact" crossovers, a category that's far better described as "Hatchbacks on Stilts." All I can assume is that crossovers of all sizes are the "new black." So let's not call them SUV's or CUV's. They HSV's.

Where as other CUVs (HRV, CHR, CX3, Crosstrek, etc) are much more expensive then your typical hatchback. The Kicks cost less or the same, equivalently equipped. It is a more utilitarian hatchback. More 'hatchback' than a hatchback? Lowest price car with proximity key, satillite radio/Android Auto/Apple Car Play, premium audio & 360 surround view cam. Awesome city car.

Nissan is killing the Versa hatch for a reason, it's more roomy, faster, and more fuel efficient than the kicks. They don't want to lose more profitable Kicks sales to the Versa. Love that for a 2019 vehicle, the kicks has drum brakes in the rear. 2019 and it is drum brakes.

If you shop around, you would know the feature set of the Versa is way less than the Kicks, why should they not charge more for it? Lots of compact cars in 2019 has drum brakes, Honda and Toyota both have them. They work well for their intended application.

I am puzzled that when making comparisons, mentioning both the sub-compact SUV's and station wagons, that nowhere in there has the Kia Soul been mentioned. If the Kia is neither a cross-over (my vote) nor compact SUV (arguably) nor station wagon (a category once used by Consumer Reports) then in what category *does* it belong? In particular, what category that keeps it from a comparison to the Kicks?

I was gonna bark about the comparison to the low slung golf, but this is a much degraded experience for the money. That said getting in and out of a higher vehicle as well as loading and unloading cargo is a major benefit for those who are taller or older. The clearance allows at least travel over potholes and bumps. But all in all the cvt..paired with that dismal engine steering and no AWD makes this a lump

Check out the 2020, at the same price point, though a distinct set of options, has some really great stuff, almost the same mpg, way more power, sits up high like the Kicks. To me these two are close competitors, though the review totally missed it...

I live in so cal and own this car. Turning is great! There is no parking spot i can't get into, no u-turn i can't make! I fit a twin sized mattress on its side when i had to move. It sprinkles here sometimes so weather doesnt matter, the only downside for me is the mpg, i cruise control it, 65 on the freeway and cant crack 33.6 mpg! i want to know what that 36 mph guy did!

I have discovered when using cruise with my Soul that the fools programmed it to remain in higher revs (lower MPG) for more quick response with changing incline of the road. Look at your rpm's while going 65 with cruise, then cancel cruise and see if they drop. You may have to accelerate or brake to 'reset' it, that is, if it's like the Kia CVT system on cruise. The advantage of my car is that it has manual shifting on the CVT, so I can force it into its highest "faux" gear (8th) to lower the revs when using cruise.

I had this as a rental car for a week. After driving it I came looking for reviews just to understand who tf buys this car. It feels cheap, imprecise, overwhelmingly under powered and boring. Curious enough, I own the current generation of the VW golf, extensively mentioned as a comparison during this review, and which I bought brand new for 16k. After 4 years, it never took a single cent out of my pocket for anything other than just regular maintenance, which is inexpensive. And it drives phenomenal. The compassion is day and night. I noticed a lot of comments criticising the review, and the only conclusion I have, is that these people just don't understand what car gurus is talking about. It's really ok to like the kicks, but no one who really understand about cars would pick it over the VW golf.

I'd go with a VW Sportwagon over the Kicks. The JATCO/Nissan CVT has very dubious reliability, and resale value on any CVT equipped Nissan has cratered. The public knows to avoid the possessed JATCO CVT. The Jeep Renegade 9-speed automatic has a similar horrendous reliability reputation. ⚠🐻⚠🐻⚠

@@thundergato84 Do you have any real numbers or just hearsay? Nissan sell many millions of CVT for more then 15 years in the US. Expect no failures? Even Honda can't get normal gear auto transmission perfect. I personally have a Honda transmission gone bad. If you just generalize and read about the complainers, most manufacturers have bad normal auto transmissions, not just CVTs. Toyota, Honda, Subaru and many are going the way of CVTs. Are you going to regurgitate others complaints about their CVTs? Nissan has been at it the longest and been refining their CVT over the years. I trust Nissan's reliability ahead of unproven new entries with short track records.

I bought a 2019 kicks from Peterborough, with in two weeks of picking up car they came out with free snow tires. I was told I didn.t get them cause I bought car two weeks to soon. Got a hold of head office they called left me a number to call back but of course the guy is never in hs office I have left 3 messages and haven,t heard back. Good customer care. Last time for a Nissan for me.
