2019 Omega Seamaster Diver Black Ceramic 300M (Dark Side Of The Sea) Ref: 210.92.44.20.01.001

Announced in 2019 this Omega Seamaster is made entirely of ceramic and titanium. With Omega having a selection of ceramic Speedmasters in their Dark Side Of The Moon collection, it was only a matter of time before the ceramic technology was moved into their Seamaster line.
The ceramic Diver 300m is slightly larger than the regular stainless steel references at 43.5mm. It's a brave move by Omega, but was it a good one?

I was at my Omega AD last week and had the itch to buy a new watch. I wanted a black Planet Ocean but they did not have one on hand. So I looked at others. Breitling, Tag, Longines, and Nomos but none of them really did anything for me. Then the salesperson brought this one to my attention. I had looked past it several times thinking it was just the regular Seamaster 300M professional with a black rubber strap being as how most of the colors were on display with bracelets and rubber straps. I put it on and I fell in love instantly and pulled the trigger. Omega knocked it out of the park with this one. Great work on the video. Cheers!

Have this watch, and the 300m 42mm blue and sedna gold. I don't mind the HE escape valve. It's an omega 300m signature, like the cyclopes date magnifier on my Submariner... It's those character traits that make a watch... If you don't like it, buy something else. There is the Planet ocean or the 300 heritage series to chose from that don't include an HE valve. People need to stop complaining about it. Most people i've talked to that have owned a seamaster for a long time, all love the HE valve and it's signature position at 10 o'clock. Anyways, great review, very comprehensive!

I agree with the HE escape valve. I have a couple of 300m and had a few planet oceans. Could not imagine those watches without the HE valve. The 300m can’t be called professional without the HE valve, period. And there is no point making a dive watch that can reach or exceed 300m if you don’t have an HE valve on it because the only time anyone would go that deep is during saturation dives. It’s a true dive watch, a tool watch. If some hate the HE valve then one suggestion would be to get a sport watch like the submariner.

Nice review. I really appreciate Omega’s abilities to create pieces with ceramic. I have the DSOTM and the PO Deep Black diver GMT. Superb pieces that are tough and absolutely scratch proof. I’ve taken the PO on dive holidays and it held up well, despite getting clanked against the boat ladder and hull when lifting equipment out of the water, setting up gear, etc. I think it’s a lot tougher than many people suspect, despite a few reports of fractured lugs. You’d have to be a real lunk to drop any luxury watch, and no doubt a fall that would damage a ceramic Omega would be hard on the movement and case of a steel watch as well. So just don’t drop the thing.

Well done again, Dan! And thanks for featuring this watch. As you're well aware, I'm also a fan of no-date, symmetrical watches, and I love the direction OMEGA is going with this. For me, I'd like to see this watch in a 40-41mm stainless steel case. In my opinion, I don't think a ceramic case belongs on a tool watch. The ss case will also provide the consumer with the option of going for a ss bracelet. Everything else, imo, is spot on. I haven't seen one of these in the metal yet, but when I do I'm afraid I might be hooked. Maybe I'll wait awhile before my next purchase and see where they go with this model. Or maybe they'll release a no-date Planet Ocean...now THAT would be great. All the best, #6

Very nice watch. I do like the Omega ceramic cased watches. I've had my ceramic PO for 9 months, and the case & clasp are 100% scratch free.

I own this watch and really like the planet ocean 39.5 ceramic. Do you ever worry about it being ceramic? I really wacked mine the other day against a door frame without any issue's thankfully.

@@dbiwatches1891 No, I never worry about it. I'm pretty sure Omega must have done durability/suitability material testing, when considering the use of ceramic in the manufacture of their watch cases.

As a note you can buy the strap in it’s unusual 21mm lug width from your omega AD and it fits perfectly around the case of the seamaster 300 heritage and other 21mm seamaster ranges

Aesthetically I would choose the ceramic, but I love the white dial on black rubber too. On the bracelet however I think the white dial looks awful. Yep it's the standard lacquered wood box.

It's a touch large at 43.5mm but the thickness isn't bad. Pop it on a different material strap and job done, but then it is a dive watch which generally you wouldn't wear with a tuxedo, but in this day and age you wear what you like IMHO.
