Hey folks thanks for watching this video! I'm going to be live on the Project For Awesome Livestream tonight at 9pm-11pm Central time. If you'd like to join us we're going to be sending dinosaurs to the moon and populating the "Awesome People Board". Our goal is $30,000 in 2 hours. We've built things. I think we can do this. Also, please vote for this video on the Project for awesome website? The link is here: www.projectforawesome.com/watch?v=maQViAEgOKA

I know this is completely unrelated to your video but I was up late thinking about some physics vids I watched and now I want to know what happens to light after it gets absorbed? Like if you throw a marble at a wet sponge the sponge absorbs its impact but the marble still sits their. Does the light really get absorbed or does the energy carrying it get absorbed? I know it's a wavelength but isn't it a physical particle as well? It has to have weight to it because blackholes suck it in with gravity so if its got weight to it does It make it an actual object? So what I'm saying is does the light just sit their after being absorbed by the object like the marble on the wet sponge or does the light itself get absorbed without a trace? I hope this doesn't sound stupid or anything but really think about it

Destin. Thank you for being awesome. I've started to watch your videos in high school and It had such a big impact on my life. I know that I sound like a fungirl. But still thanks for being such a smart and responsible creator, for not being ashamed of your faith, for showing that space and engineering rocks, and for being a proof that men can get matured, raise kids, love his wife and be childishly amazed with the world.

Showing how they have changed over time in the place outside the city, they sort of unlearn living in a state of distrust and fear. I've thought this weak about becoming good but also figuring out how to unbecome what is unhelpful. The environment and nurture is really so powerful in how it leads to us to adding value to the world around us. It takes a village to raise a child. Thanks for taking us to the meet some kids and sharing an update this year. I always look forward to it. And thanks for the livestream shenanigans!

Wow, what an amazing organization! Thanks for introducing me through this video Destin, I had the opportunity to travel through Lima, down to Arequipa, and into Ayaviri Peru in the Alte Plano for a week. We finished up our mission trip in Cusco. I’ve also been fortunate to sponsor a child in Ecuador since 2006... My sponsor child will be turning 18 years old in the spring, and the sponsor program ends at that point - I will be looking into this organization further as my current commitment is completed.

It's probably not your problem directly, Not Forgotten, but the donation form on your website doesn't work with Firefox mobile (I had to use Chrome, Firefox didn't show the PayPal button) and some text on the form looked a bit weird too. This has a Christiany vibe to it. I dig it. Helping people is one thing, and it's great, it's always good. But breaking a cycle multiplies the good; it produces more. Thats something most charities miss. Goodness that abides and reproduces is a beautiful thing. It's our efforts multiplying beyond what an individual is capable of.

@dle511
@dle511 4 жыл бұрын
1. the orphanages in operation there only accept girls as they are biologically family-oriented 2. boys growing up without guidance or under abuse will go on to perpetuate the cycle of violence and/or neglect as men
@evildude109
@evildude109 4 жыл бұрын
As I recall he answered this on the video a few years ago: boys are much more likely than girls to be orphaned in this city, not from a traumatic event but from just being abandoned. So that is the particular need being fulfilled. I can't find his comment though, so I don't know.
@heatherscompletelackofchil6127

I seem to remember that boys get orphaned a lot more often than girls because the girls eat less so are cheaper to feed and people think they will help around the house more

wi11y1960 being generous doesn’t exactly require money tho
@HKOlaura
@HKOlaura 4 жыл бұрын
Your heart is generous. People who give generously start with a generous heart. With distant charity, money is the most helpful, direct way to be generous, but locally, generosity can be demonstrated by giving time and service to people who are your neighbors. This endeavor is amazing, but there are children who could benefit from your generous heart wherever you live. Schools, temples/churches/mosques and food banks are a great place to start...I personally recommend the latter two in the US because schools often have such rigorous screening measures that it can be a bit intimidating and involved and the time commitment could be greater than you’re able to give. There are good reasons for those measures, but it’s unfortunate because it can prevent people who don’t have a lot of time or resources from engaging where they can. Look online for institutions who make it clear they are affirm value and dignity for all people, and no matter their religious or political affiliation, you will be doing good by offering your time.
@HKOlaura
@HKOlaura 4 жыл бұрын
Also, money matters, but time is more precious, since we cannot add or gain time. For some people, money is available, and I would never disparage people who donate money. But to give of your time is to give from yourself, and that is equally valuable and precious for every person, since there’s not a way to make up or regain it.

Iquitos Peru has this issue where boys are disproportionately kicked out of their homes. If a family has a boy and a girl, and cannot support both, it is always the boy that is kicked out and subsequently forgotten. There are orphanages for girls but there was nothing for the small boys kicked out to fend for themselves on the streets. This is a project for these boys to show them they are not forgotten and teach them to break the cycle of abandonment when they grow up.
