Been playing pipes off and on for 10 years but never really got „into them“ Then at a workshop I met Allan … and spent a bit of time „blathering“ in Frankfurt 🇩🇪 One night after „blethering“ a wee bit too much ( 03:30 hrs) around a camp fire . A fellow guest gave Allan her pipes and asked if he could play. Against a summer night full of stars Allan let rip … .. I have never in my life heard such a sound, like all the angels and gods stood aside for a true master …. Once in a lifetime sound 👍

I have been playing Alan MacDonald s music for years now. They go from the difficult to the very difficult ,but they are all without exception absolutely beautiful. And this recital was breath taking!!! absolutely amazing!!!! Thank you for posting it.

You're welcome, Steve. I was just lucky to be in the right place (National Piping Centre) at the right time, during Glasgow's annual 'Piping Live' festival.

49 minutes in we get Alan and his Dr Flora MacAulay Carradale :-) , squeezing the final note of her in style.

Hi piperbob! Allan is one of our guest for the Girvan Festival 2022. Could we use 30 seconds of this video as a short promo? Thanks!!!

Anyone now what tune Angus plays at 29:05

It's a reel called "Sandy Cameron" - it's in the Scots Guards Collection Vol. 1, page 215 (Dr. Angus plays his own version of the first measure.)
