Bellisimo to both rider and horse for this absolutely gripping performance!! I remained mesmerized for the entire 5+ minutes!! And kudos to the rider/trainer on his remarkable recovery and proving that even those who have amputated limbs can still be a champion! This victory touches me on a very personal level because my late Mother list her leg below the knee at age 25 in 1985 and made a complete recovery as well!!! Congratulations!

I live with severe chronic pain...except when I’m working with horses- I returned to riding last November after a 20 year absence due to health issues- I was worried that riding again would make my symptoms worse but it is exactly the opposite! Yes, im tired and a bit sore after a lesson but I’m so much happier! I’ve even returned to jumping ( small) courses! If you have your DR’s ok to simply be around horses, start there- and if you’re cleared to ride, I’d encourage you to find a barn that also does therapeutic/adaptive riding (and has solid safe horses) - don’t be discouraged if it’s tough to do things in the beginning- with patient steps and a safe horse you can always improve! Go for it! Your heart will be singing “ I’m back in the saddle again!” And your smile will shine bright ( then you’ll remember arena dust and learn to keep your lips closed LoL) Happy trails to you- mbz

I think this presentation has all of the merits. Its a freestyle, but it's a Reigning event with extraordinary Reigning movements-it is not a Spanish event - those who ride horses, know riding per se can be difficult, not too many can ride a horse this way, much less with an amputation- this an inspiration for many to do it despite the limitations and in this case do it in a world-class way!

Wonderful. In a dressage saddle, no less. Did he have to get a waiver of some sort, since I thought the rules specified western...but I guess since it's a free style, some one (like Stacy Westfall) could do it bareback, if they chose?

As it's Freestyle, you can use whatever tack (or none at all). As long as you can perform the moves you're being judged on, on top of getting the crowd in your favor, anything goes. In traditional reining classes, you are required to be within, for example at Congress, AQHA's designated western tack guidelines. For instance, a legal curb bit must have shanks no longer than 8 1/2 inches, and a mouth port no taller than 3 1/2 inches. Also, if using a curb bit, you have the choice of using either split reins or romal reins, with usage rules on where your hands need to be.

this team is obviously very skilled and Mr Win is clearly an excellent rider. the spins were amazing. So I don't understand the harsh use of the bit seen during the sliding stops, 4:18 for example. he also used the bit quite a lot during his collected canter. not what I want to see from for a rider at this level.

I don't think the rider should've used a bit with such long shanks. Horse is kinda clacking their teeth a lot with ears pinned almost the whole time. But I will give the rider this, they rode good, and they rode with only one leg, which was impressive.

I enjoyed till I seen those spurs. A elephant would turn circles with those.
@nakotas_promise_breyers25715 жыл бұрын
What time can you see them at?
@larkluvshorses76315 жыл бұрын
Mary Love The spurs are merely a tool, not a weapon. They are used to give a highly trained horse specific cues, not to jab them in the sides with. Besides, just because a person is wearing spurs doesn’t necessarily mean they are using them much. They don’t cause the horse any pain.
@tepaka565 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed it till I seen those horse shoes, a piece on metal nailed on horse hooves, and that saddle! sure the horse can't breathe, plus the bit in it's mouth. Poor horse!!!
@larkluvshorses76315 жыл бұрын
P.S Rrr 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ first of all you can’t do reining without shoes on the horse, it just really isn’t very feasible... and the shoes do not hurt the horse in any way. Also, the bit is not hurting the horse, if you notice in the video the rider hardly even puts any pressure on the bit at all. And the horse is used to the saddle, it doesn’t cause pain.
@nakotas_promise_breyers25715 жыл бұрын
@@tepaka56 first of all horses cant feel through their hoof only their frog and the nails weren't nailed onto the frog. Second of all how do you ride? Bareback all the time? You know its bewn proven that bareback damages the horses back? The saddle keeps the pressure even on the horses back. Third if the saddle was to tight the horse would stop or buck. I do agree with you about the spurs ans bit but the saddle and horse shoes are fine.
