Brutal, I couldnt watch it all, horses mouth opened on every stop, his flying lead changes were horrible, counter bent and mouth open on first few circles.... terrible.... they need to score this accordingly to elevate the quality, .... couldnt watch it and I do reining and dressage, so I am used to being scored for every single movement, reining needs that kind of accountability

I agree.
@devynt77024 жыл бұрын
Since this is freestyle I think it might be scored differently. I mean I do reining and this score would be pretty bad because of the spins and the first sliding stop.

What’s funny is this is the horse Steve claims is the best horse he’s ever started and finished all the way through. Absolute trash. I hope Petri gets a proper retirement and gets removed from Steve’s barn.

How do they score Freestyle? I was shocked by some of the high scores even when people were yanking on the reins or tense on the mouth. Even people who were on the wrong lead for half the routine managed to score high I was so shocked
@fionaoreilly59625 жыл бұрын
I liked the routine, but he was a little hard on the reins. Might it be the training?
@Shiba_Draws4 жыл бұрын
Nah, I think he's just yanking his horse's head off, theres really no need to yank a horse like that, I mean I understand when you're learning to ride and something happens and you get nervous and pull the reins a bit too much(has happened several times with me) but that doesnt seem to be the case here
@cass36524 жыл бұрын
He doesn't really look to be pulling too hard, to me at least. The horse maybe seems to jerk his head back when responding to the reins. But then again, I might not have seen what you're seeing.
@cass36524 жыл бұрын
At around 4:26 The rider seems to just pull to indicate a stop, and the horse munches at the bit a little. So maybe the horse just doesn't enjoy that feeling of the bit, like it clanks his teeth or something. Not trying to disprove your point, just trying to explain what I'm seeing. :)
@volleyballjunkie004 жыл бұрын
He never rides his horses. Petri lives in a stall and gets pulled out for stupid shit like this without proper legging up and schooling. So no shocker that Petri botched the first stop, looks stiff through the whole thing and Steve has to crank on him.
@heatherkouba78074 жыл бұрын
I think the horse might just be sore like my horse because when my horse stops she pulls the reins the horse also looks really stiff

You have no idea, she was in flight mode so may have been a little short on her. I never had to pull hard on her mouth. I never yank on her mouth! yanking is a fast hard pull that isn't at all what was happening.! She just stood outside in freezing rain and performed like a champion with no practice!

Anyone else surprised that the horse didnt rear up on him or something due to how much he was yanking his head?? I mean the horse had his mouth wide open with every sliding stop, I dont do western riding though Id love to try it one day and I saw in other reining videos the horses dont have their mouth open like that,nor are they Being yanked 😯
@maximillian11094 жыл бұрын
Some horses have their mouths open. It can be due to past trauma or just a bad habbit. Does not mean the current rider is doing anything wrong. I do as well think that with the harsh bit and the oddly slack but not really slack reins (which is worse than holding a horse super hard to to the sporradic pulls rather than a constant preassure) made his hand a lot harder than it could have been. But over all it wasn’t too bad. I have seen worse.

WTF She got a 195 doing a slid stop while standing but yet anothet guy got a 225 doing a normal Reining pattern with his young kid, with Mom guiding her, running around in arena...I with him doing pattern I CALL JUDGES PAID OFF
@devinlintzenich57135 жыл бұрын
Well first off....it's a he. His name is Steve. Secondly, there was a lot of "wow factor" - the standing up, pretending to moon the audience, etc etc, but there wasn't a lot of solid maneuvers happening. One of his lead changes, he missed his back end and went most of the way around the arena before he fixed it. They want to see creativity in freestyles but not at the cost of actually performing reining correctly.
@elizabethmelton35925 жыл бұрын
@@devinlintzenich5713 Well first off I dont need gender correction...it was mistake Second of all I stand by my comment The one with the kid was STILL A a basic reining pattern
@lolidk32034 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Melton the horse needed lots more work, softening the mouth, lead changes, spin ect. it’s not just how the man rides and did that standing up thing, the judges also look at how good the horse is trained.
