Very good review. I recently traded-in my `19 P380 R-Dynamic for a `21 RR Sport HST. Believe it or not, I went from a Porsche 991 GTS to the Velar. Emotionally, I missed the Porsche but the RR is a better vehicle for driving around the city (I live in L.A.). Anyway, the point I want to make is that in over 2 years of ownership I had ZERO problems with the Velar. My experience with it made me think all the noise about the unreliability of LR must be from people who never really experienced their vehicles. Thanks again!

Yes! I totally agree! It’s a great all around daily driver with style and reliability. Before switching brands to LR, I also heard a lot of “noise” about how they require a lot of maintenance and blah blah blah, but I figured since I’m leasing and not buying any issues would be covered with warranty. I’m happy to say that haven’t had one problem! How are you liking the bigger RR sport?

Rusting brake discs/ rotas are a real problem and Jaguar Land Rover will not replace them as a warranty issue. Great question, so personal I haven’t had any problems with my Velar. Mine is 2.5 years old with only 20k miles, and no maintenance issues at all. If you get the oil changes, put premium gas in, and change the fuel injectors at 15k miles then it should stay reliable. The thing is I got my brand new, so you never know what and how the previous owner took care of the vehicle, and I believe that’s why some people have problems with them because they buy it used and it was driven hard and not maintained. Hopefully that helps.

I think it depends on your driving style. Yea, definitely different from driving a civic, but much more space than a civic. It’s the most spacious but enough space for kids and adults. Just depends what all you need it for. Those are all great choices, and they all drive different! on my opinion the BMW X4 is a more aggressive driver car than the other two. It’s great if you want more aggressive driving experience with the extra room. The SQ8 is very nice, I like their body style a lot but their interior to me was kind of plain and not too entertaining. The RR I believe has the best over look inside and out, but it is probably the slowest and least aggressive driving out of the 3. Great question, so HSE stands for High Specification Equipment, as opposed to Standard Equipment (SE). The 2021 Range Rover HSE is a high-spec vehicle within the standard edition. With this vehicle, you can expect more luxurious features and amenities like chrome accents, larger wheels, and additional features not found on SE models.

@DavidCodamo3 жыл бұрын
Totally not true! Especially if you lease brand new! Only have to take it in for maintenance once a year for oil change and tire rotation at the dealership ship. Costs about $380, which isn’t bad compared to other vehicles that need oil changes quarterly. Haven’t had any issues or concerns. Maybe older model LR have reliability concerns. But I believe LR has addressed all that over the last few years when their newer models. Hopefully that’s helpful Chris!

@DavidCodamo3 жыл бұрын
@@chrisyip4202 o very nice! I think that all depends on how and where you drive. For example in LA there is a lot of pot holes, speed bumps etc, so the coils would get more work. As well as if you have a big family getting in and out all the time etc. But if you live in city like Phoenix, that is really flat and nice roads, then you shouldn’t see too much wear and tear on the tires and coils. I upgraded my tire package to 21 in rims and Perelli tires and haven’t had any wear and tire issues. Hope that helps! Keep me posted on how you like the new 2021🙌🏽

Good question, it costs me $380. Which isn’t bad as it is only once a year and they change the oil which is synthetic, rotate all the tires, flush the fluids, update software, as well as provide a loaner vehicle while they work on it.
@DKEK43 жыл бұрын
@@DavidCodamo how often is the oil change? I am looking at a 2020 Velar P250 17k miles. I don’t know a lot about them, it pleases me aesthetically inside and out. Been driving a 2018 Sub outback so this will be a different feel for me. But I keep seeing things on KZbin about reliability. Should I be concerned?
@DavidCodamo3 жыл бұрын
@@DKEK4 great question, it only needs annual maintenance do oils changes once a year or every 10,000 miles. Me personally I haven’t had any reliable problems with mine, but I also take really good care of it and don’t drive it hard. I see that your looking at a 2020 with 17k miles, that seems like a lot of miles! Mine is a 2019 that I’ve had for alittle over two years and it barely is over 16k miles! So you maybe cautious about that ones miles for it only being a year old, plus you don’t know how hard it’s been driven. Strange for it to be only a year old and have well over 12K miles.

@DavidCodamo3 жыл бұрын
Haha great question, this was my first time buying an SUV and getting into the Land Rover Range Rover brand as a customer. When I went to buy it they didn’t have any p350 available, as these Velars were a hot commodity! Even this one that I got I didn’t get to test drive because it was literally coming off the delivery truck when I signed for it. Now don’t get me wrong the 4 cylinder turbo still has a lot of pickup and go. I’m just use to 6 cylinder cars before getting this and was giving honest review after owning it that sometimes I wish it had alittle more pickup and go. Still not a dealbreaker, and can put it into Dynamic Mode for more torque and traction😁
@Tkenny353 жыл бұрын
I saw videos where the infotainment sometimes doesnt turn on or it just randomly turns off and has a black screen. Did that happen to you? I saw the video of people who owned the 2018 Velar to be fair.
@DavidCodamo3 жыл бұрын
Great question! That has happen to me twice over the last 2 years. But once I restarted the car it worked. I could understand it being a concern if it has happen often. I do know that when you bring the Range Rover in for service that they also update the software, so maybe that issue has been fix for the most part if software has been updated.

Haha yea I think it also depends on how you drive and where you store your Range. I don’t drive it very hard, just cruise for the most part other then jumping on the highway, and it’s stored in a garage and I live in the south so it’s never seen the snow or cold. So I think that helps makes it more dependable too.

@DavidCodamo3 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly for a midsize SUV it is good on gas because the p250 model is only a 4 cylinder turbo. So I get about 18-19 mpg in the city, and 21-22 on highway but do keep in mind even though it’s decent on gas, it takes Premium unleaded, so the most expensive gas😬 which basically means your going to pay $0.30 more per gallon. That being said it costs me about $54 to fill my tank when gas is at $2.99. And that will last me about 2.5 weeks.

Nice review. My fear with RR is the reliability, running to the dealer for all kind of stupid problems and some complexed one too. The B to B coverage is gold with these cars. I would never buy one without....period. This car does look great, reminds me the Grand Cherokee Overland. I also hear that you always need to clean the touch screens. The oily finger marks are nasty showing. I have a friend who carries eye glass mini wipes from Amazon, a big box in the car LOL. I do agree with the V6. The 4 cyl is very loud on low gears.
