The basic "Stove" design was not only stellar but one of the more "wife friendly" in appearance of any Rocket Stove I've seen. Brilliant. Wish there was more on the oven build but even just the stove portion would work with a Coleman Camping oven sitting on a portion of the grill plate. At my advanced age highly unlikely I would be building one but would like to buy one. Too bad as I have about 200 years of twigs on my property. Again! Brilliant!.

That's a very cool oven! I'd like to mention a tip, you may already know, if you are trying to eliminate or at least reduce heat warpage on sheet metal using some aluminum blocks as either back ups or just close to the weld area it'll draw alot of the heat away. I weld stainless sheet and tubing and do quite a bit of fabing at my work and that's what i've been trained to do. Stainless warps three times as hard as mild steel so it makes a huge difference. Just throwing it out there! Great work guy !!!!!

Great video, I made a normal L shape rocket stove and it works great but one of these is next. I was going to make basically the same thing as what you've done but have the top as a griddle/blacktop, you know the type of thing I mean. I'm going to use pretty thick plate for the top and I was confident in how I'm going to make it but wasn't sure how I should do the oven. This has been a big help so thanks you got a big thumbs up from me :-)

A very efficient use of heat. Top for frying and boiling, bottom for baking. Great idea. Thanks for sharing. Oh by the way, absorbing heat and dissipating back with ceramic is a brilliant idea. I wonder if you could put an array of ceramic tiles inside of the burning chamber would make the oven even hotter and more efficient or not.

It might be the half fire brick in the burn chamber is doing to good of a job. keeping most of your heat up top. Or maybe just add a second rocket for the oven, not ideal but would give you a working oven when yon need it.

This is so awesome!!! This could easily be multi purpose is a tiny space. Wow!! The only thing I may do is to add a fresh air intake to route outside as not to draw oxygen out of my space. You could also create a screen in the fire box to use pellets. (You may have already). I'm just full of ideas.
@t.h.o.r.
@t.h.o.r. 5 жыл бұрын
The pellet thing is on the list- so is water heating. - Fires are my Business and have been for many years. dont worry about oxygen depletion - Its a fallacy. the fire extinguishes long before you will haha. If you were in an absolutely sealed room with a fire going. it would extinguish from lack of air way before you knew that there was an issue. this has been proved again and again. :)

Yes rusty you were so correct. 450c on top but only 200 underneath. That translates to only 100c in the oven . I'll try a diverted flap first. Then if I have to add another firebox for the oven then well, it has to be.
@rustywoodpecker8191
@rustywoodpecker8191 5 жыл бұрын
TinyHouse and Offgrid Resources: 👌..Ok..Yeah 🤔..Hmmm, thinking thinking🤔. Oh..ok. In regards to an inlet flap for the oven from the rocket furnace. In order to circulate from top to bottom, you can still use the chimney to pull the heat to the bottom of the oven with not only a diversion flap from the rocket furnace but you need an exit flap on the right hand side of the oven top, leading back into the bottom of the original hot plate section. (Just remove half a brick, and replace the hole with an adjustable slide back and forth plate, simply controlled from the outside. The way that you get the heat to the bottom of the oven would be to have an secondary closed wall (1 inch vertical gap) on the left side oven wall ( with inlet hole at the top from rocket furnace) with a 1 inch open gap at the bottom. Attached to the bottom of this secondary inside (left wall) is another inside bottom sheet (1 inch horizontal gap)...yet this bottom sheet has rows of drilled holes ( starting with small holes on the left side, leading to larger holes on the right). This way the heat can distribute evenly along the bottom (left to right), considering that the left side will be hotter than the right, and also disperse heat into the oven before it's sucked out buy top right suction hole leading back into you "top plate" section and from right to left, back up the chimney.😄 Try experimenting with this first, so as to eliminate using a secondary rocket furnace for the oven👍 I hope I've explained this the best I could. Please read over it again & again, so visualisation kicks in. I can send some drawings if you want to send through messenger. Rusty 🇦🇺

@davidzemke2549 5 жыл бұрын
@@t.h.o.r. I know you already have the bend allowances down and the measurements. DOE focuses on different inputs and optomizeing an out put. For example the inputs could be area of the main air Inlet, length and area of the burn area and out put could how hot a gallon water gets in 15 minutes with a given amount of fuel. Then you change the inputs and make severial stoves in a given combination at specific settings. Ultimately the best combination of inputs should generate optomize output.

Is it normal for a rocket stove to emit some smoke into a room where it’s used, at light-up? Or, does more, or less, smoke depending on how much draft is working, & the ratio between vertical & horizontal tubing?

@Chimonger1
@Chimonger1 2 жыл бұрын
@@t.h.o.r. I understand what you are saying. But, that does not fit the current issue. Our chimney is a 15’ brick chimney. The damper is missing (rotted out). There is about a 4” x 10” ash-dump in the rear floor of the fire chamber of fireplace..good air supply. Chimney has approx. 12” x 15” clay flue liner, up thru the 15’ height of the brick chimney. The opening to fireplace = 3’w. X 2’h. I think, after trying a few times, that The ratio of the fireplace opening measurement, to the size of the chimney hole, doesn’t work. The column of cold air in the chimney height, is too heavy for starting a fire & overcoming the column of cold pushing down inside the chimney, without it smoking out the house. Small fire or big, started in that, just smokes the house impossibly. That is why I think making a smaller burn chamber & opening, might help get the chimney to draw, once a glass screen is put in front of the smaller opening. It could concentrate the fire heat into a chamber more similar sized to the chimney interior. Otherwise, I don’t know how to make a fire happen in that fireplace, for emergency heat, right now.
