@GOATEDHUNTER1443 жыл бұрын
@@thomasburns3345 there's a reason they have their own category buddy
@thomasburns33453 жыл бұрын
@@GOATEDHUNTER144 Yeah, your torque curve demonstrates acceleration characteristics, and can help you “see” how a car feels when accelerating. It can help with getting up out of the hole faster (assuming unlimited grip). A car with a flat torque curve that’s lower can be faster than a higher torque car that’s peaky and has a narrow band though. Turbo cars especially these days often are faster than their number would suggest because they begin peak torque very low, and carry it through or past to when HP more so becomes the number you’re looking at. That’s what makes my car so fun for me (Supercharged) is that it’s a linear torque and HP curve, no torque spike, just constant growth to the top of the gear. Ultimately though if the car is geared well and driven well you’re mainly looking at HP since you’re likely staying close to or above 5252 rpm after first gear. I’m not saying you’re wrong, in fact you’re right and I agree with the idea that most forget torque and that it’s important. I do think saying it’s more important than HP is a stretch though... maybe in diesel applications because the power and is so short and low?

This is a great great video for folks trying to make this choice. I rented both and I couldn’t justify the 20k difference as someone who doesn’t run at the track and “tries” not to exceed 140 on the reg. I put 315s on 10.5” rims on the back of my scat and it still spins through third, so I feel for hellcat owners on the street.
@RacerX95 жыл бұрын
D P3 .. thank you my friend.. yes now imagine 300+ more hp and trying to hook that on the street 😂.. coupled with a 3.09 gear and a nasty trans tune 💀..

RacerX I can only imagine, but I could see in the video, when you launch the cat, it literally looks like a race boat launching😆 controlled slide through 4th gear👌🏻 I was going to go with the 555r but after this, I’m going with the MT Street SS. You saved me $600 on the 555r. Thanks!

@@DP-hn6rl on the street, asphalt age makes all the difference. I used to take my m6 scat pack to different areas where I live in the country to see how it hooked with 275 555r tires. The new pavement was wheelhop city whereas rough 10-15 year old pavement it spun the tires banging through the gears and was off to the races. My stock Hellcat on 315 G2 Nittos on the same old pavement chirps in low and is gone.. haven't tried the new pavement yet.

Brother why don't you tell us what size rims you're using? Because if you're using the stock 9 inch rim it's no different than a 9 inch rim on a 245. I know your results show slight difference but if you were running an appropriately-sized Rim such as of ten or preferably 11 I imagine it make a tremendous difference

Miles Eston .. the rim on the Nitto was a stock 9.5 Hellcat rim and the MT Street SS had an aftermarket 9.5” rim .. they weigh about the same .. good observation 👍.. didn’t think to talk about rims

555's are garbage on high hp cars. Get the 05R's. I dead hook on the street in my E85 '18 A10 GT, 4.2 with only 490 wheel. I'd chew a Hellcat up rollin' around town...I don't fear them with my set up.
@RacerX95 жыл бұрын
Mustang Man .. I tried both the 05R’s and the 555R’s and they seem to hook about the same on my setup.. although the hellcat makes power very differently than the stang.. 890tq @ 2500 rpm will make any tire feel less than ideal lol
@buckeyeman76315 жыл бұрын
Yeah bud, my lack of torque helps dramatically leave the line easily. For sure. Not sure I'd agree with a 555 being equal to an 05R though. My 05R's hook a lot better than the last set of 555's I had. I think your problem (which is a nice one to have) is all that power you make, especially down low. @@RacerX9

Great comparison - I love that you actually tested some different tires. I have a '15 SRT 392. Running Contintental ExtremeContact Sports on it. Have done 4.2 seconds twice. Have done 4.3 seconds multiple times. Can regularly do 4.4-4.6 seconds. I have my custom drive mode set to sport, but with street traction control. Frankly though, I get my best times by modulating the throttle off the line, and then burying it. The Continental tire is very under-rated in my opinion!

Wow racer x I ran consistent 4.1’s in my 2020 Charger scat with steering in sport transmission in sport and traction in street and factory 245’s all the way around all while spinning like hell on takeoff on street, the best way to do this is on older asphalt where you can feel the pebbles a little but not loose just textured. It spins too much on new smoooth black asphalt find aged grey asphalt for consistent 4.1’s

This is great video. The first mod I would do if I bought a car with lot horsepower is wider and sticky tires. That’s before intake exhaust and so on. My 170k miles 02 mustang GT 5spd with intake exhaust TB and dyno tune makes 250whp 285tq with short shifter and 315s in rear and I have a good suspension actually will hit 60 in About 5 sec flat which I find pretty good for a car with that many miles and not a lot of horsepower
