@jctrails6 жыл бұрын
Mark they are both awesome bikes at different ends of the spectrum. The 4.5 is an aggressive XC / fast pedaling trail bike and the Stumpy is an aggressive trail bike that can handle chunk better. So it depends what your going to do with your bike. For where I live the 4.5 was more than enough and could not beat the pedaling characteristics of the bike.

How does this bike stack up against your Yeti 4.5 you had? I know this one is probably more capable on the down hills but I would love to hear your thoughts. I currently have the 4.5
@jctrails6 жыл бұрын
Mason the 4.5 is one of the best pedaling bikes I have ever ridden, with that being said. The Stumpy is not far off. It’s definitely more capable on the downs, but if you put a better rear shock on the 4.5 (dpx2 or monarch plus) it will help plush out the bike. If I had to pick one bike it would be the Stumpy, it fits my riding style.

Wich one of both would you recoment for a bike to ride Trails, sometimes Park, Enduro races and also often uphill? Thanks for your answer and sorry for my bad english. Cheers!
@jctrails6 жыл бұрын
MilanHorst thanks! If your looking for a bike to ride your local trails 90% of the time and other 10% riding park and racing. I would recommend the Stumpy you can always beef up the suspension at a later date. The LT can also pedal your local trails but you will lose some efficiency and speed through. The LT though is awesome when pointed down, it feels more plush and stable when pushed hard. I hope this helps.

JC TRAILS Thanks for the fast answer. I Think Next Week i will Test the new Stumpy.

Does the Comp carbon come in a 27.5 option? or only a 29er?

So did Bike Barn Racing make you an offer you just couldn't refuse on the demo bike? I see at the end of the video you have it set up with a Rental cockpit...looks like James got a new bike?
@jctrails6 жыл бұрын
You have a keen eye Dan. I was just trying out a bigger stem on the bike to see if I could get that perfect fit. No new bike sorry. Hopefully new bike day will be soon😏

Right on, good luck! I have been wrestling with the new bike purchase myself, so may good bikes to choose from. The 2019 Stumpjumper is really high on my list... I sold my Bronson and was planning on going HTLT. But last weekend we had a Santa Cruz demo at my local trails in Napa CA...BKXC just posted a video there. and I was blown away by the Tallboy. I rode the HTLT, Tallboy, and the Nomad(really good too pedals beter then the Bronson)... I wasn't even planning on riding the Tallboy, is crazy how good a 110mm rear travel bike can be
@jctrails6 жыл бұрын
Dan I actually love the Tallboy. It pedals so well and your right it's very capable.

Hey man great video! I'm getting ready to buy a stump jumper but i'm torn between the "pro" model and the "comp carbon" model. is the pro model really worth it for 2 more grand with it having the DX2 rear shock carbon wheels and 36 factory fox forks? and would the weight be a huge difference from the alloys on the comp to the carbon on the pro? thanks in advance dude keep on shredding!

Fairly new to MTB BmX background. I'm 6' 220-250lbs any suggestions? Alum or Carbon? Or another bike? Any advice appreciated. Thanks
@expofcam5 жыл бұрын
Gus i’d go with an alloy to start i recommend a bike with 27.5 tires also make sure you buy a bike with at least 130 mm of travel. Possibly a xl frame depending on brand you buy
@jctrails5 жыл бұрын
I would second starting with an alloy frame. It’s hard to swallow the huge price of carbon for your 1st bike. A size XL with 27.5x2.6 tires would be a great fit for you with your bmx back ground.
@GusCruzPhotography5 жыл бұрын
@@jctrails is your main reasoning for not suggesting carbon because of cost or you think I'm better off with an Alloy because it is stronger? I've had a $500 MTB for years and its a tank so I really do want a light bike just wansn't to sure about strength and reliability of carbon.
@jctrails5 жыл бұрын
The carbon is about a 1/2 pound lighter. Are you going to notice it probably not. I would also check out the Giant Trance great bike for the money.

JC Trails , I am looking to purchase new bike soon. I want something playful , poppy and that I can throw around without issue. Think about bmx street riding and dirt jumping. :) Used to a 29 but thinking about 27.5 just because its smaller. Have you demo'd the 27.5 comp alloy? or would the 29 comp alloy fit what I'm looking for?
@jctrails6 жыл бұрын
anthony brady if your looking for a fun poopy bike I would go with the 27.5 short travel Stumpy. I just rode it today at a bike park and it's super fun!
@anthonybrady95446 жыл бұрын
JC TRAILS how was the 275 on the trails? Anything you didn’t like? Or liked? Not the biggest fan that of the st base models setup. But can’t afford comp carbon.

anthony brady the 27.5 rips, the aluminum version can still party just a little heavier.

Ok, so VPP or this new FSR link? Is it still a lil rough? That's what I noticed between the 2 suspension designs. VPP was much better than the old FSR design.
@jctrails6 жыл бұрын
Ken Cycles they feel so similar, but I'm liking the new FSR a little better. When your pedaling over the rough stuff the FSR linkage seems to track better.

I would personally go with the HT LT. The rear linkage on the HT pedals better and you have 15mm more travel.

JC Trails, Can you please do a review on the 2019 Stumpjumper Expert 27.5? I was hoping you or MTB Yum Yum would have tested this by now but it seems that the market is in the 29 models because they’re all over the bike shops and KZbin and no 27.5 LT review. I had 2016 Stumpjumper Carbon Comp 29 with Roval SL Fatties 2.3 Butcher F/2.3 GC R @27.4 lbs and sold that last year and built my all time favorite bike (again). A 2013 Santa Cruz TRC 26. Because the Stumpjumper 29 was too calm and more of a “pedal & plow” kinda bike. At least for me but maybe that’s because I’m short at 5’6”, 30.6” inseam. Although I already have this 2019 Expert 27.5 for a week now and rode it 3x already, I still would like to hear your opinion on it. I feel that it’s my Blur TRC and Stumpy29 combined! It likes to pop of stuff and the rearend is stiff! I leave it open all the time unlike the TRC, I have to switch to pedal or firm mode on the climbs. I haven’t felt this fun in a long time and not to mention I picked up the bike brand new at a LBS for $4500 OTD and they gave me $400 gift card. Total $4100 OTD for an Expert during the Black Friday Sale! I already upgraded the wheels to 38mm Roval Carbon with the OE tires. So much fun!🤘 Please review. Thanks!

So Spec is having a sale in march. At this point the Comp carbon is 3770 after rebates etc and the expert is 5k. Anyone think its worth the jump to the expert?
@thedude85265 жыл бұрын
It's significantly lighter than the alloy version and it rides far differently. Try testing both. I ended up getting the stump comp 29er yesterday. I'm taller so I didn't mind the extra weight since it felt more stable to me.

JCtrails , I am ver close to committing funds to an alloy 29er on on the 29 SJ comp. I’m 5,10 170 lbs. should I go medium or large, my 2016 SJ was large and felt stable but slightly less wieldy than the medium I just demoed. I’m torn! Please advise.
@jctrails6 жыл бұрын
Hey Thomas I would go with a size large and put a 40mm stem on it. You can always move the seat a little forward if you feel if the top tube is a little long.
