I simply love my 2019 Ascent limited. Have owned it for 7 months. A great family SUV. Very spacious and yet compact. Drives very smooth. Love all the safety features. Of the new features, I specially like the AVH. I would recommend this SUV to anyone.

Wait til the electronic start failing I have had mine for just over 2 years . Issue after issue I HATE this POS. I had to have the map light assembly replaced , the tracks and electronics for the driver side door 3 times roll the window down that works roll the window up and it rolls right back down half way some kind of pinch sensor . set the door locks through the stereo lol no joking I have mine set to unlock all the doors when I shut the car off 9 times out of 10 they DONT unlock. then the back gate cant open it if the drives side door is open . Gas mileage holy crap my 1967 ford got better miles .

I love my Ascent! Dodge, Jeep, Ford just can't keep their reliability and value for the money! I sold my 4 year old Subaru Forester with 40,300 miles for $3800 less than what I bought it for new!

Jason I told agree I sold my 2016 Forester Premium for $21.234 and purchase a 2019 Forester Premium for $26.700 plus tax I was shuck how much I got for my used Subí.

@@juanseaforth5111 what did you have to pay in taxes on the new one? I traded in a 2016 Buick Envision Prem ll for $28,500 and could have got another for $36K. But got $9,000 on a Regal TourX. SUVs hold their value regardless of manufacturer today.

I usually always wait till the idle drops down in my 19 Legacy 2.5i before starting out... gives the CVT heater time to do its job.

I was wondering what the sound was when I start the car. My only gripes are the pseudo shifting of the trans and the lift gate settings. Other than that by far my favorite vehicle. Also, try to work in the towing bar in the deal when you buy. I’ve worked on cars for years, but I do not want to have to pull the bumper cover off to I.stall the towing bar so I’m left with forking out $800 at the dealership for the install

Do they make a model without the 3rd row seating because I don’t need it but do need more cargo space? I noticed that when the 3rd row seats are folded down there is a rise in the back deck. I think that there are probably a lot of people that don’t need that row of seats......ever.

Randy Geene I think they hide completely like any other 3rd row seat SUV in the market! You won’t even see them when you fold them they hide making it a complete flat surface.They don’t make them in 2 row seats the purpose of this build was to have more passenger capabilities. If you want 2 rows just get the outback I guess.

my seating arrangement works fine both ways. Mostly the rear seats are down to allow for max. use. I do when needed have all seats up right when carrying extra people (8), but it's not a good idea; the vehicle is not painted yellow! People take advantage of this. It has no loss of power, handles the same. My best lay out is to carry 5 passengers and have plenty of storage. It's the largest vehicle I've had since my 250 van!

Great SUV but Subaru really needs to offer people option for an 8 speed geared auto transmission. Yes, CVTs are economical but some people prefer durability than economy.

CVT’s have used for decades! All tractors, heavy equipment, even lawn mowers . CVT’s can tuned to engine, reprogrammed if needed.

It is longer than the Pilot, enormous in space and yet an average sized adult can't fit into the 3rd row! This was the same experience in the Highlander that I couldn't accept. If you're getting into the 3rd row segment, you better make it a 3rd row that conveniently accommodates adults as well.

@@brentanthony6038 You can see why from the dimensions for these four common SUVs including the Atlas: Pilot 2019: 40.9 in / 38.4 in / 31.9 in = total of 111.2 in. 18.5 cu. ft behind 3rd row. Atlas 2019: 41.5 in / 37.6 in / 33.7 in = total of 112.8 in. 20.6 cu. ft behind 3rd row. Highlander 2019: 44.2 in /38.4 in /27.7 in = total of 110.3 in. 13.8 cu ft behind 3rd row. Ascent 2019: 42.2 in /38.6 in /31.7 in = total of 112.5 in. 17.8 cu ft behind 3rd row. The Atlas has a whooping 33.7 inches leg room in the 3rd room. Compare that with only 27.7 in the Highlander. As you can see, the Highlander sucks the most!. The Ascent and the Pilot can get as much 32.7 to 32.9 by moving the 2nd row and that way only be shorter in leg room by about 1 or 0.8 inches.

We have had our Ascent since June 2018 and we have taken multiple trips where we have had 5'8 adults in the third row. This is possible because the second row seats slide forward to accommodate third row passengers legs. We passed on the VW Atlas because our son was extremely uncomfortable in the 3rd row and that's saying something as we were coming from a 2017 Toyota 4Runner with a third row.

Kaylee Grimes well, it is very odd he’s comfortable in your Ascent but not in the Atlas. It defies logic. When you slide the 2nd row in the Ascent, comfort is compromised in the 2nd row.

I'll say first hand that I've owned 6 subies with CVT. I drive 208 miles a day for work...just bought my new 19 but my Crosstrek I put well over 120000 miles on it...never did any maintenance and it's still on the road today with no prob....my legacy I put 98000 miles on b4 I traded...no prob my wife has owned a outback and two xts no probs....I beat the shit out of my Crosstrek...I drove it down alot of drifted right of ways " I work for a railroad".....I took it thru the Rocky mountains twice ....the CVT doesn't make the cars race ready by no means but they do not hinder them one bit. Keep in mind...auto transmissions we're frowned upon when the first hit the real market.

@@gumaming you wouldn't know you need until you don't have it trying to back into a park space or watching the neighbors dog run around your car. It is a nice safety feature and I'm surprised Subaru is not on board. Same with the rearview mirror that turns into a camera when the seats are full. Nothing like looking into the rear view mirror and only seeing passenger's heads.

I believe they come with a 180 degree backup camera in the console and sensors to cross traffic and lane travel. Lots of safety features my 2015 Legacy has and more.

Think you might be responding to the reviewer on the price tag. I don't know where he got $50k. We got ours for $40k. (Limited model) We drove the Chevy Traverse, Toyota Highlander, GMC Acadia, Hyundai Sante Fe, VW Atlas, and Honda Pilot. The VW we liked the best, but they couldn't match the cost\value of the Subaru. I previously had a Crosstrek with 135,000 on it; I got $8 grand for it from the dealer.

This only comes in CVT with the size of the vehicle it will feel really sluggish compared to a proper 6 speed auto and with CVT transmission comes with less reliability if you plan to keep more then 5 years

Agree with Pablo here. The Subaru CVT is very smooth. I have no complaints. Mpg is better with it too. I regularly get 38+ in my Legacy on hilly highways too

I too was skeptical of the CVT transmission, until I test drove it. It's very peppy off the line, something to get use to. However, very seemless on the highway. Not sure how it would hold up on towing, particular loads near the max of 5,000 pounds. Again, CVT do get a bad rep, any doubters should at least test drive it before knocking it. I feel this is one that performs more than adequately well.

Ive had an imprezza, crosstrek and now an Ascent. The CVT is sluggish with the imprezza and crosstrek, but this Ascent has a lot more pep than expected and it tows 5000lbs.

Test drove pilot, ascent, Santa Fe XL and Volvo Xc 90 last week. Surprising performance from ascent and Santa Fe. Volvo too expensive for what it offers. Pilot’s interior is dated and all options cost a lot of $$. The AWD and snow performance are inclining me to get the ascent.

I switched from a fully manual transmission to my 2019 Legacy 3.6R with CVT and love it. Being able to hold perfectly steady RPMs while accelerating is awesome. This is coming from someone with 7 years of autocross experience. You can hold perfectly steady power slides in the snow and throttle steer a lot easier with the CVT. Two years of hard daily driving and mine is still holding strong (knock on wood).

Why? It is already fuel efficient, has enormous space, can tow 5k pounds. What is an extra 1k lbs going to help that wont hurt it somewhere else? If you say handling, are you buying a car or a suv?
