Miss July I like Forester better than Outback. Outback is longer than Forester. But,Outback is sells great in America.I don't know if you know,Japanese mountain road is thin in the would. Outback is big!! I think big car are honest in Japan. And,Japan's automobile tax is heavy. Taxes are taken from big cars steadily. So I chose Forester.

Thanks for the informative video.. Having had the vehicle for 3 weeks now and done a few hundred miles I thought I would give you my first impressions on the NEW SUBARU FORESTER E-BOXER This is my first Subaru car Subaru have packed a lot of gadgetry into this car and getting to grips with it has not been without its angst ! The hi-tech rear view mirror which was part of the demonstrator vehicle was not provided on the vehicle provided by the dealer... From the factory the Map data was out of date and advised me that it needed to be updated - Whilst it does this (connected to a WiFi signal) the maps and SatNav become inoperable. You have to download the update in one go - if not you have to start again ! Even this isn’t a full update which you have to download from the Subaru maps page - so far this has proved a challenge and I have yet to be able to update the maps data completely. The Driver Recognition functionality sounds good but despite multiple attempts to program it with MY identity my wife and son are constantly greeted as being ME !! The safety feature which should remind you if you drop off or take your eyes off the road for a few seconds fails to work most of the time... Being hybrid I expected the switching from Battery to Petrol engine to be smooth (like the Toyota Prius) - but on many occasions the switch over from battery power to petrol engine results in a momentary drop in power - a bit scary whilst pulling out on a junction or onto a roundabout.. The 2 litre petrol engine seems under powered for the weight / size of the car - Options are available to remedy this but at a cost... The engine noise is quite noticeable especially when the car is labouring to get up a hill. Finally, the car is giving around 28 MPG - which means a full tank of petrol will provide around 290 miles of happy motoring !!

Good post that. Im surprised about the economy though, as hybrids are usually better on fuel. Im in the UK, I hope to get a Subaru in a couple of years, and to be honest, the only new one id go for is the impreza hatchback because I dont really need an SUV, and its the lightest at 1379 KG, so the 2 litre 154bhp engine is fine for this model, and even with CVT is quick enough for daily use in all situations. If I go second hand, it would be the Forester XT. Plenty low mileage examples on sale over here and plenty enough power as well with having the turbo. As for engine noise, yes its noisy, its a boxer engine. It wont be smooth like a traditional four cylinder, but thats what appeals to me, it has character. Too many bland boring cars on the roads and its not all about speed but there is an obsession in the UK with 0-60 times. Real world driving has nothing to do with the figures. If a car can keep up with traffic, overtake if needed (in most cases overtaking gets you nowhere, and doesnt save you any time, you just swap places in the traffic) and able to climb long inclines without too much effort then its enough power. If you need tons of power to do the same tasks its an ego thing, nothing more. The driver has the problem, not the car. Too many show offs on our roads who cant stick to the speed limit.

Strongly disagree with Simon, about overtaking, while perhaps its true in UK , its not the same where i live in Greece. roads are narrow here usually one lane , we have Subaru XV 2019 with 1.6 (115hp) and its bloody scary sometimes to overtake the slow moving vehicles like tractor or track , while oncoming traffic seems far away with this car acceleration its nerve wrecking if you know what i mean. on the other hand if i hesitate and wait behind this sliw moving vehicle i build up big line of cars behind me, so while 0-60 is not most important but it definitely helps and even if it’s only now and then still useful to have.

Good day, dear sir! May I ask you the following: Can you switch between power sources? Can you choose to use only the gas engine or only the electric motor or mixed. And if you can which button does that mode changing? Cheers.

@@moonsapling - No, the car makes the selection automatically - also the battery only last for approx 1 mile of travel before going flat. The Hybrid function is just a marketing gimmick !!!

I actually like the seamless CVT transmission, ive used it on other brands but it is slightly baffling why Subaru havnt just put traditional auto boxes in their model range, a 7 or 8 speed or something.

Subaru need to bring back the XT turbo variant. Why waist your time with this when the fuel saving is minimal over a standard 2.5lt? Makes no sense.

@@brian-g4dvb384 what a load of rubbish. As a comparison, a new non turbo Kia Sportage 1.6 with only about 120 BHP and 1.5 ton weight has more than enough power. I had one for a day as a hire car. Overtaking is not necessary 99% of the time. Its smacks of driver impatience, nothing more. This country is full of idiots on the roads that think they need big horsepower to get anywhere. Perhaps they need to learn how to drive properly.
