In the frontal offset test, there was insufficient pressure in the driver's airbag to prevent it from 'bottoming out', allowing the head to contact the steering wheel. The score for the head was penalised for the behaviour of the airbag and the displacement of the steering wheel, and protection for this part of the body was rated as marginal. The passenger compartment was extensively deformed in the offset test, especially around the door-frame and the score for the driver's chest was penalised for this unstable collapse. Combined with marginal dummy readings, protection for this body area was rated as weak. Although dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of both driver and passenger, structures in the instrument panel and dashboard were thought to pose a risk of injury to occupants of different sizes, and protection was rated as marginal. In the full-width, rigid-barrier impact protection of the head of the rear passenger dummy was rated as weak, based on dummy readings during the test and protection of the chest of both driver and rear passenger was marginal. Tests on the front seats and head restraints showed marginal protection against whiplash injury in a rear impact. A geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated good protection. The standard-fit autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system performed well in tests of its functionality at the low speeds, typical of city driving, at which many whiplash injuries are caused. However, the Jimny did not qualify for these points as Euro NCAP requires good head restraint performance as a pre-requisite for AEB points

In the frontal offset test, protection of all critical body areas was good except for the necks of both dummies, protection of which was rated as adequate. In the side barrier test, protection of both dummies was good for all critical parts of the body. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. All of the restraint types for which the Jimny is designed could be properly installed and accommodated.

The bumper provided good protection to pedestrians' legs but protection of the pelvis was mixed. I don't think that they rate the crash from cameras. Camera is just for documentation. The real statistical input to rate the crash are done using multiple sensors installed on the car and the test dummies.

It'll polish out. :-S Look at the way the chassis is flexing during the frontal impact tests! I'm sure it's no worse than a lot of other vehicles but it makes you realise how the forces travel through the entire car and cause unexpected damage. I know somebody who took a Mini Cooper to a track-day and side-swiped a safety barrier, resulting in the car requiring a new bumper, front wing & headlight etc. Afterwards, they noticed that one of the rear windows didn't open properly and the tailgate was rattling. Again, just shows you how the shock of an impact can travel through a car and wreck all sorts of unexpected things.

Since I wrote that comment, a guy I work with was forced off a country lane by a lorry and his car went into a ditch. It needed a new front bumper and crossmember and he was back on the road. ... and then he noticed that one of his side-skirts don't fit properly any more and his exhaust is "rattling on something". Same thing happening there, probably. The force of the collision HAS transferred through the car's structure and a careful inspection would probably reveal that a whole bunch of things are now slightly mis-aligned.

The only benefit is you're farther away from the other car inside. Jimny came out in 1969 Jeep Wrangler came out in 1987(with softop) Mercedes G-Class came out in 1979 And yet people still said that the Jimny copied these two... And for those that says that the Jimny copied the jeep, the jeep doesn't even have a top which is why when Toyota released the fj40 landcruiser in 1960 they called it the 'hardtop' which is probably where the Jimny got it's inspiration from. Now the first gen Jimny does have a softop but the current gen is copying the Toyota, not the jeeps and Mercedes which all copied Toyota.

In India the car is tested every day. If you don't believe than take Jimny out in the streets of any city in Uttar Pradesh. First thing tested is brake. How quickly it can stop to avoid hitting a stray dog. Second how quickly you cam maneuver the auto rickshaw cutting your lane. How quickly you can accelerate to reach to the first place in roud about. If the bars are open till late night, a crash test can be seen on highway. Cheers!!

I had a 2007 Suzuki jimmy which I crashed while on private terrain sliding it around in every corner not caring about what’s next. Forgot one corner had an old electricity pole of bricks and crashed into it at like 60 kmh. Didn’t have a seatbelt on and the only thing that happened to me were 3 scratches on the face and a small cut on my lip. The car was amazing and would buy it again if it had more comfort.

К нам поставляют только с двумя подушками, в Европе их шесть. Фичи типа удержания в полосе, автоторможения, распознавания знаков и датчика дождя у нас даже в топе отсутствуют. Как то так.

@@Alexxfishch то что подушек меньше, это жирный минус. А вот про системау удержания полосы и тп. Я считаю что в наших условиях они действительно лишние. Даже на мкаде разметка отсутствует или не видна по разнчм пиичинам не менее 6 мес в году. Что про ос тальное говорить, камеры и радары грязью и снегом забъются.... датчик дождя правда в производстве 3 коп стоит.... чего съэкономили?

Chances of you surviving these accidents at 100 km plus is in any point highly unlikely be it in a landcruiser or Mercedes etc. They do however test for the speeds at which accidents are most likely to happen or thenspeed at which most accidents occur.
