Great video! Thanks for making it. I have this part but I decided against them since then i won't have any passive reflection, meaning a person may not see the vehicle parked at night. One thing to note, I had to switch from Blue T-taps to Reds. When i installed my DRL Fog lights I was having connection problems with blues even though they were clamped down tight. Switching to Reds solved the issue.

Thank you for the feedback. The OEM reflectors work as they intended to and this is just a cosmetic addition to the RAV4 so it's a matter of personal choice. Also I didn't have any issues with the blue T-taps so far but any type of T-taps can work. I just used a different approach to use a connector instead of directly attaching the LED wires to the taps.

What model year is your vehicle. Do you have to ask for a certain year model? Or are they universal? Have a 2022 XLE.

Can you tell me what brand lights these are? The link to purchase from Aliexpress is no longer valid. I'd like to buy the same brand as you. I bought another brand and condensation is already showing up after 2 months.

Do I connect the ground wire to any of the three black/white wires or do I have to connect it to a specific one? I am in Europe and mine has a black/white wire on all three.

You have to test that using a multi-meter or you can just do trial and error and see which one

Why take the time and trouble to take off the rear fender? Just break out the reflectors (you're not going to reuse them, huh?) drill a hole through the front of the receiving indention that lines up w/ the wiring on the new signal/brake/tail light and you're good to go. Works just fine.

The units leak and cause issues for the computer, I’ve installed a few different makes of these and they all leak. So I even sealed them myself no still they got water inside… They look great and work great, they just get water inside…

I haven't had any similar issues so far. But I do agree the quality of the LEDs isn't the great. Some of the LED cells aren't working properly after 2 years. So maybe you need to add a fuse to protect it.

I waterproofed using clear silicone and went thru fair amount of rain storm, including recent Hillary here in SoCal but no issues so far. I drive it daily but then it's only been few months. If it lasts 2 years(per @RAV4Guides), then I'm good with it. I can replace them easily now that I've done it once. I love mine.

Here is my latest update: These lights disabled my car's collision detection and cruise control system w/errors on the dashboard. Those systems are linked directly and indirectly to the brake lights. These lights interfere with the brake system when they malfunction such as water penetration into the light's housing. Toyota won't touch my car until those lights are removed.

That's weird.. What trim and year do you have? I've never experienced anything, it works perfectly and didn't affect anything..

If you're reporting the issue is happening with AMOPA, these are different brand and haven't seen anyone complained about them so far.

@@RAV4Guides I got the XLE Hybrid. But I think it's less of the trim level and more of an electrical short caused by the water condensation in the LED light. The collision detection system automatically applies the brakes when a potential accident is imminent. It won't apply the brakes if it thinks the brake lights are not functioning properly. So the collision system shuts down and cascades to shutting down the cruise control system also. If I do this again, I would 1) look for a product that specifically says it's waterproof. The manufacture for my lights, AMOPA, says their lights need heat ventilation so the light is not waterproof 2) dunk the light in water for a couple of hours to make sure it's waterproof before installing; it's a big hassle to uninstall these lights.

@@Chitown388 Hmm good catch.. I guess you should get a different brand as this AMOPA sounds like it has issues. Sounds like it's making a short circuit or something. The ones I'm using have no issues whatsoever and I've been using them for around 8 months or so. That's during summer and winter..

Don't buy these LED lights with the AMOPA brand name. Those LEDs have water condensation inside the light. AMOPA told me that their LEDs need heat ventilation. This implies that these AMOPA lights are NOT waterproof. Their recommendation is to remove the light to "air it out" ... as if removing the rear bumper to do this is a 2-minute ordeal.
