I went from a Hilux invincible to this exact spec of Proace about 6 months ago and I love it. Very comfy and good on the road. Has lots of driver aids that wasn’t even mentioned in this video (keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, tyre pressure sensors to name a few) and is a very nice place to be for a long drive. Auto box makes it very easy to drive and HUD is surprisingly useful. So far so good! Oh, and flappy paddles is good for engine braking down a hill and keeping in a gear when towing. Only negative is the mount for the gear wheel thing sticks out a bit far into the leg area of a middle passenger making long journeys pretty uncomfortable.
@vanaramauk4 жыл бұрын
Tom here: Absolutely, it's packed with kit - the HUD is a personal favourite feature. Yep... the gear stick mount... it's the same on all the Groupe PSA vans - the person in the middle has room for only one leg.

The Toyota appears to be the most expensive option available on this platform but you get what you pay for. I went for the two litre diesel Expert Pro because it edged the fuel economy figures. The excellent Peugeot diesel consistently manages well over 50mpg on motorways and still in the high forties around town. It provides all the power you need below 2000rpm, producing maximum torque at 1750rpm, so that probably explains it.

The reality is that all those bits and trim details, are all fine and dandy. BUT the typical fleet owner will count their pennies and trow the options to the bin! Pure and simple. ;-) Not a single one of those details makes for better, faster or cheaper deliveries! But they do add a pretty sum by the end of the day. By simply adding cost where usually cost is not desired. Example: Your typical fine looking alloy wheel, looks better indeed. But it's way pricier, repairs are a "bitch", it's heavier than it's steel counterpart, don't provide better economy or safety, etc. So you're paying for the looks and ABSOLUTELY nothing else! With this said, options are just fine, but having the "choice" of your options its the real advantage. ;-)

Maybe contain a extra segments on the end that highlight features that don't come down to your personal opinion, like the trim, these are economical/comfort vehicles. If it doesn't fit in either of those categories, it's an extra that 99% of us won't ever get unless we buy ourselves one of those. One thing that I've seen missing is noise insulation, that's one comfort that is left out of most of the reviews, wish you'd include it. @@vanaramauk in my business we expected vans to last 300k plus. Alot of these modern things seem to be throwing major tantrums @ the 150k mark

Toyota is no longer Toyota...Now they are Subaru, or BMW or Vauxhall.

Your lucky it’s rubbish, I had one for a year and sold it. Suspension was soft loaded up like on overloaded estate car, the doors creak under body flex when it drops off a curb. After 40k miles my mechanic called it the Toyota Prolapse the engine shit itself on numerous seals. Build quality was tragic not sure how this reviewer thought it was good.

Vanarama I completely understand you only went out in the van for a small drive, initially I was happy maybe just blinded by all the tech the van had to offer.

Was that a review or an advert Toyota but not a Toyota engine I guess Auto: is it torque converter or DSG? About the worst review I’ve ever seen.

I'm not a fan of the new PSA group chassis for these vans. The design is ugly in my opinion. Too curvy and looks like a box on wheels. I loved the previous generation! The German duo, Mercedes and VW, are too pricey, and VW has become generic. I like the Renault Trafic and Nissan NV400. Cheap, good looking, and great value for money! Ford... horrible, in Belgium and rest of Europe, they're bad, I hate Fords. but I see in the UK and Ireland they're going strong.

Tom here: Having seen and reviewed them all now (the medium vans) I quite like them - they feel like a home from home. But I totally understand your point of view.

@@vanaramauk Oh for sure! PSA Peugeot Citroen build great vans that make you feel cosy! I'm sure it's got the driving pleasure! It's just the exterior design really, but it's fine XD
