Good honest review. I was able to pick up the same RAV4 Hybrid Limited in Blueprint color, just like yours. Gorgeous!! Handles great, too. Since it's a hybrid with no startup sound, Toyota had to add something to alert pedestrians when the car is backing up. To me it sounds like a choir of angels! AWESOME!!

Bought a RAV4 Hybrid in Blueprint 4 weeks ago...(wanted black but wait was long and lease ended on a 2017 Subaru Outback. The RAV4 feels more nimble than the Outback. Expensively priced but the resale value on this will be good. Great MPG. Good sound system and quiet interior (the 2019 Subaru interior is more quiet).

I want one. All of my Toyota vehicles in the past had easily driven past 300K miles like a walk in the park. My current Sienna is 15 years old and has 284K miles on its odometer and the engine, transmission, AC, suspension and electrical power windows still work like new. Toyota name is legendary. Nice review 👍

Getting over 43 mpg after some practice in my new RAV4 hybrid! Just wanted to share my experience. Initially, I was doing too much. I was trying to use the electric ability as much as possible. Watching the graphic engine power graphic...charging the battery/using the battery...trying to avoid the ICE. Shooting for the "Pulse and glide method." After about 2 weeks, I embraced some ideas that have earned 3mpg better. First, I learned that using the electric battery (process of charging the electric battery with the gas engine) is not without its own parasitic drain...and second, the ICE engine is very efficient in its own right. So, I started doing less jockeying of the vehicle to "stay in electric" and let it do it's own thing...It will do the work for you! It will choose the most efficient mode of operation. I do look ahead to anticipate stops and incorporate coasting time. I do speed up gradually. In forums and on youtube I've seen the proposal to: "get up to speed so you can coast and get off the ICE engine." This sounds well thought out...and I wasn't gunning it to get to speed either...just not delaying....anyway...it wasn't panning out. I just speed up gradually...slow down gradually and let the car do the rest. 43.6 mpg average now. It was enlightening to me to see the vehicle get its best numbers after taking a highway trip when it should be less efficient as hybrids go. But...the highway driving limited my ability to jockey the electric battery and I had to allow the vehicle to do its own thing. And surprise, surprise...the average mpg shot up. It's just that simple.

Cost cutting most definitely. The RAV4 is already significantly more expensive than its competitors, such as the Ford Escape (especially now with their $5000 employee pricing discount) and Mazda, which is a few thousand cheaper similarly equipped (and offers low interest rates 1.49% Mazda 48 months vs 4.99% Toyota same period)

All RAV4s are pricey. The cheapest model with alloy wheels at my local Toyota dealerships starts at $28k. That's crazy money for an entry level CUV. Toyota gouges the hell out of their customers on pricing and good luck getting a nice discount.
@AutoAcademics
@AutoAcademics 5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, padding vehicle prices with add-on features/options is a common practice at dealerships, making it difficult to find standard packages on the lot, palebeachbum. It's not too bad if they are features you want, but it can be a pain if they're features you don't. Sometimes you can negotiate some of that extra cost down, tho, getting "more for your money" than if you added the features yourself. We appreciate your comments and as always, thanks for watching!

@palebeachbum
@palebeachbum 5 жыл бұрын
@@stevepowsinger733 The $28k I mentioned is NOT with dealer add-ons. This is MSRP, before dealer add-ons. Just go to the Toyota website and build the cheapest RAV4 you can with alloy wheels (not the cheapo base model with wheel covers). The price hovers right around $28k, last time I checked. I think that's insane. You are correct though that many dealers - if not all - slap on usually at least $1,000 in add-ons. I've seen as much as $2,300 added on to entry level economy cars. Either dealers are desperate or they're simply getting greedy.

Do you feel the Highlander is a more sturdy, comfortable, robust feeling ride? I test drove a Rav4 back in 2009 and it felt a bit flimsy and chinsy to me, whereas the Highlander felt and feels so heavy and comfortable. I realize it's a bigger vehicle. But it's possible the Rav4 (hybrid) has come a long way to feeling about as secure and strong.

The current-gen RAV4 is a much different vehicle than it was 10 years ago, Dream Logic. Chris never had any interest in them prior to this generation. Just read your original comment again, Manuel Moraleda. The only thing new that Toyota highlights for 2020 is the TRD Off-Road model, as well as some "multimedia enhancements." We guess in their enhancement, they rearranged what was included in certain packages, now making the 360 camera an add-on. These are still just guesses so we can't say for sure. Hi, YQ Quesada. Hybrid vehicles have both a gas engine and an electric motor that is powered by batteries, and can use both to power the car. Sometimes they work together and other times they work independently of each other. The gas engine automatically charges the batteries when needed, so no plugging in is necessary. @@alextran8188 that's pretty sure, Toyota cars are very reliable. I am very surprised by the prices going higher and higher such as a RAV4 at 40k or a Land Cruiser at 90K.

While the RX has more prestige, this RAV4 has better driving dynamics, similar appointments/features, and still costs less. If the brand is important to you, then it'll be hard for this to compare, but if brand prestige doesn't matter, this is a really good vehicle. We appreciate your comment, Corey Adams. He is impressed with HOW ROUNDED IT IS!!!! I just got my RAV4 Hybrid 10 days ago, it has not been a happy event. Firstly the model he is using is EXPENSIVE. Mine cost about $37k and does not even come with BUILT IN GPS.Oh it has something called SCOUT GPS LINK, sounds like a GPS navigation system to me. BUT I WAS WRONG, SCOUT GPS LINK SIMPLY DISPLAYS THE NAVIGATION FEATURES OF YOUR SMART PHONE ON THE RAV4 screen. NO smartphone NO NAVIGATION. OH AND TOYOTA WANTS TO CHARGE YOUFOR THIS FLIM FLAM AFTER A FREE TRIAL. OH yes Apple Car Play, if you have an ANDROID PHONE, SORRY NO GOOGLE DRIVE. The RAV4 comes in 11 different variants with a lot of options, GOOD LUCK TRYING TO WORK OUT EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GETTING IN YOUR CAR. OH then there are the options that you pay for but Toyota wants to charge you a monthly fee to use. I AM NOT A HAPPY TOYOTA FAN. One more thing, I am 77 and have bought many, many new cars over the years, THIS IS MY FIRST TOYOTA and MAYBE MY LAST.

You seem like a troll. You post the same thing on every video. They are pretty upfront that you need a smart phone to use GPS which is fine because car GPS have always sucked. The only downside is if you have an android

Science-is-Truth All options are very clearly listed on Toyota website. You could have asked the salesman about available features You did not do your homework and now you pissed at Toyota ? Let me get this straight You just dropped $37K on a new car and you did not bother to verify what you’re getting for it ! I agree the new RAV4 is priced very aggressively but has someone pressured you to buy this car against your will ?

Nate Margolis Are you a Toyota employee? When you finally get the car and start using it, THEN you find out you need a cell phone with a data plan. Toyota nor the dealership have been able to explain fully what SCOUT GPS LINK ACTUALLY DOES. Can you please give me that explanation. If TROLLING is an honest review of my experience with a new car then you do at least HAVE ONE THING RIGHT, I AM A TROLL. SO WHAT!
@brit1066

jack p Try using the Toyota web site to BUILD A CAR. AS YOU GO THROUGH IT THE PRICE CHANGES SIMPLY FOR CHOOSING RED OVER WHITE, NO NOT SOME FANCY PEARLIZED COLOR. When this happens the BUILD does not say OH THAT FEATURE REQUIRES THAT WE ADD THIS OPTION, oh no the price just jumps and you have to go searching to find out why. I am NOT saying the car is BAD, my problem is that over the years I have heard so many accolades piled onto Toyota that I think I EXPECTED TO MUCH. I am DISAPPOINTED that so far Toyota has not lived up to my expectations. The MPG is great 37 and climbing. The Auto Headlight Dipping is GREAT. The Cruise Control that matches your speed to the car ahead is TERRIFIC. The Hold feature that holds the brake on while stopped in traffic is GREAT. BUT the switches on the steering wheel are SMALL AND HARD TO SEE. In bright sunlight the information panel is HARD TO SEE, I DO HAVE EXCELLENT EYE SIGHT, I can get a note from my eye doctor if you insist. Oh yes the Rear View mirror does NOT have the guidelines that follow the movement of the steering wheel. Can you please tell me where it says that in the sales literature, I had the d finite impression that that feature was included, MEA CULPA. Sorry but you may need to look that up, ITS LATIN. Yes you NEED TO GET IT STRAIGHT AND STOP BEING A SPOILT BRAT.
