I’ve had my Atlas for 4 months now and my only pet peeve is the gas tank size/mileage. I only get 400 miles out of a completely full tank and that’s driving a majority of my mileage on the highway. This thing supposedly has an 18.6 gallon tank yet every time I need to put gas in with the remaining mileage saying 10 till empty (I won’t push it past that) it only takes 15.8 gallons. That’s almost 2 full gallons that should still be in the tank which should give me at least 50 miles more. Anyways sorry for the rant. I still love my Atlas regardless if she thirsty.

I do really like the way the screen is in the dash and not sticking up above, and I also like that it will play CDs. And the 6 year/72k mile warranty beats even Kia/Hyundai. Also, the Atlas speced out like this one will cost you $50k or more.

I was given a 2019 Atlas SEL Alltrack as a loaner a week ago and I can echo most of the points of this video. However, I found a few things annoying, especially compared to my 2016 Gulf Sportwagen. One, the drivers side armrest was way too low to rest my elbow on while my hand was on the steering wheel, and the windowsill too high. There was no comfortable place for my arm, and after 30 miles or so I really noticed it. Also, the radio has those two knobs on it. When you use a knob to cycle through choices on the screen, if your finger accidentally gets too close to the touch screen you find yourself switching from radio to accessory. I found the radio a bit less user friendly than my Gulf. They fixed things that weren't broke. I also missed the voice button on the steering wheel, also on my Gulf but not on the Atlas. You had to activate it from the radio. I found it under-powered, especially coming off the line, even in Sport mode. Now granted, I didn't spend all my time learning every feature, but here are some that I liked that the man in the video didn't touch on, to go into detail on. Active lane control - I was blown away by the way it stays in lane. I actually tried to make it drift out of lane and it pulled itself back. The active braking was something else I'd never experienced before, and when cruising at freeway speed, to have it slow down for traffic ahead was a whole new thing for me. As soon as I moved into the passing lane it sped right up again. The Atlas I drove also shut itself off at a stop light. As soon as I took my foot off the brake and put it on the gas, it started up and off I went. Despite the arm rest issue I mentioned above, I found it quite comfortable and roomy. I'm sure my family would love it.

Here's a complaint for you. VW apparently doesn't believe in TPMS with individual tire pressure display. When my wife was driving my Hyundai she got a TPMS warning that the right rear tire was at 26 psi. She called me asked what she should do. I told her to abort her trip to the remote place she headed to and to come straight home, while monitoring the tire pressure. The tire pressure remained at 26 psi, so she was able to make it home without any problems and without having to stop and exit the car in the middle of winter to check all four tires. Had the pressure continued to drop, I would have had her pull over and I would have rescued her. So I consider TPMS with individual tire pressure display to be extremely important. In fact, all four of my vehicles have it and I've had flats in three of those vehicles. As far as I'm concerned, an idiot light doesn't cut it. It simply doesn't provide me with all the information a driver needs.

For the People the owns the 2018-2019 VW ATLAS, I went to my Local VW dealer today.( Hawk VW in Joliet, IL) . I asked for this particular wheel. Its not on the VW website yet. But its a brand new Option for the Atlas this yr. The wheels are 21 inches,,, wrapped in 265/45/R21 Pirreli Scorpions!. They are expensive( wheels and tire package, they quoted me for 4 wheels, 4 tires, installation, taxes..$2825. Wheels are $297.43 each... Tires are ( Pirellis) $345 each.. They looked really nice and fits the Atlas Well!.. I do have the 2019 SEL PREMIUM 4 Motion Tourmaline Blue with Black Wheels. I still like my black wheels.. but this one looked great too!. Regarding the Dashboard screen. Im bringing my my Atlas this Monday. and my VW Service ADvisor will look into this, and if theres an update ,, they will upgrade mine.

@@Wadnan762 . for Wayne and Other VW Atlas Owners!... so i got my Atlas back from my Dealership this evening. . The Service advisor said that there is NO update on our Digital Cockpit( dashboard). The newest 2019 Atlas models at least the one on their showroom floor, has this new digital cockpit. I checked/ and inspected it , The whole unit is brand new!! Ours have two curves on the top, the new one is straight line that curves down at the ends. .. The new one has built in Engine temp on the LEFT side, and Gas gauze on the right side( they are not part of the screen but its a permanent fixture on each side). When the engine is off, the dash shows the trip odometer and total odometer miles on the bottom. So, we are out of luck!. Its a hardware and software Mid year update i think and same thing with the 21 inch wheels, which is just coming out. I just bought this car because I like the name. I like everything about it except for the start/stop feature that they only use in Europe. American cars should not have it. It is irritating and cannot be turned off permanently. I will get the chip and reprogram it myself. Also, my check engine light came on after 482 miles. So far the dealer does not know what is wrong. They cleared it but it came back on after 820 miles. I hope it will be resolved soon. If not I will have to send it back as a lemon.

Very nice video. Thank you. We test drove, and nearly purchased, the 2019 Atlas SEL with black 20" wheels, and dark gray exterior. I thought the exterior look was unbelievable. unfortunately, the premium has that cheap feel that if the SEL non-premium. to me, the three big knobs on the console underneath the display look out-of-place considering much of the competition is using toggle buttons to alter temp, etc. and the price for every trim below the premium is absolutely unbelievably high considering they still have vinyl seats. and don't let anyone tell you final suite seats are like leather. They don't breathe and you get a sweaty back and butt. it's a shame Volkswagen is making you purchase the premium version if you want the option of real leather. But it is like everything else, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. if my back didn't get sweaty from driving with the vinyl seats, I'd be driving a 2019 SEL right now since I was willing to overlook the ugliness of the interior.

WARNING: Okay, no one should buy this car. Here's my story about my 2019 VW Atlas: My husband and I bought our 2019 VW Atlas in June of 2019, brand new. It only had approximately 15 miles on it. We were enjoying our vehicle and thought it was awesome. Fast forward to late April 2020/early May 2020, I start the car to leave for work in the morning and a notification from the car says, "Transmission in emergency mode, drive with caution." Sooooo...what? I call VW when I get to work and make an appointment with my local VW dealer. After 2 days without my car (they provided me a loaner car), I received a call from them stating it was ready to be picked up. I picked it up and they relayed to me that the drive shaft HAD TO BE REPLACED. Y'all, this is a 2019 vehicle. It hadn't even been 12 months since we purchased it. It didn't even have 13,000 miles on it, at this point. ALSO, the mechanic's report was four pages long. The mechanic noticed other things what VW had not done correctly to the vehicle and he had to fix them. Example, the screws were stripped. IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY LIKE THIS. After returning home and showing my husband the report, he stated they did $10,000 worth of work to this vehicle. Grant you, it's under warranty until 72,000, butttttt this shouldn't happen in a BRAND NEW vehicle with less than 13,000 miles. This is a $40,000 car we are talking about. OH, BUT IT GETS BETTER. Fast forward to September 2020, my husband and I are leaving to drive about a hour away to my in-law's house when ANOTHER notification pops up stating, "Coolant level is low. Check owner's manual." WHAT? At this point, the car has about 13,500 miles on it....still nothing that would warrant this notification popping up. Sooooo...we call VW again and make another appointment. Now, VW tells us that VW doesn't know how to fix this issue (it was leaking coolant, but there was never a spot in our driveway so we had no clue) and that when it happens again (because it will happen again, it is a leak after all) to just bring it back and they will refill it. ALSOOOOO, the cruise control works when it wants to. My husband asked about this when he dropped it off (the second time in September 2020) and they, again, told us VW doesn't know how to fix this issue yet. YOU GUYS. We haven't even had the car for 18 months yet. It's been 15 months. The car doesn't even have 14,000 on it. It was a $40,000 vehicle. PLEASE. Don't buy this vehicle. This was my experience and my husband's experience. I've looked online, and others seem to complain too about their VW. I never write things like this, especially so drawn out, but I WISH I KNEW WHAT I KNOW NOW. Hindsight is 2020. 😭

@@mikem2253 I drove a 4Motion SEL Premium a few weeks ago. Powder delivery from the VR6 was not a good match for this heavy of vehicle. VR6s are nice and linear with power delivery, but a heavy vehicle like the Atlas needs a more rounded torque curve. Specifically, the off-the-line power is anemic. Even the 40-60 pick-up (freeway entrance ramp acceleration) was sorely lacking. Even if it was driving just the front wheels there was so little power it probably wouldn't have any torque steer. The 4Motion should have minimal drivetrain loss because of the way Haldex works; so 4Motion can't be blamed for parasitic power loss. In addition to the Atlas, I drove the following cars in the last few weeks: 2020 Hyundai Palisade FWD, 2019 Chevy Traverse High Country FWD, 2020 Ford Explorer ST (yes, the 400hp/415 ft lb model; let's say that's an outlier), 2019 Toyota Highlander Limited AWD. Have this car 9 months and 1 recall, engine light on happened 3 times, oxygen sensor broken, this car is definitely not a reliable car, btw, the car I bought is premium trim, totally a piece of junk. Of course, they offer warranty to cover this but you have to go to their service center over again and again, never buy VW

Yikes! I'm sorry you had such a experience. Did you lease this car or did you buy it?

Test drove the Atlas SEL Premium 4motion v6... its way too slow. Even my Odyssey is faster.

Its a SUV, not a racecar.
@SonicSuperWaffle5 жыл бұрын
@@mikem2253 I never said I was going to race with it. The poor acceleration just makes it difficult to merge on the highway or freeway. My Odyssey weighs more, has a smaller engine, and weighs 132 pounds more, and still manages to merge just fine.

How many hp?
@SonicSuperWaffle5 жыл бұрын
@@dongertan3320 Odyssey has 255hp, 250tq. Atlas has 276hp and 260tq.

I'll get Toyota 4Runner. It has 4.0 size engine but only 270hp. But the acceleration is better i mean faster.

Didn't you review the Tiguan and say all the same stuff about it? You must be a schill for VW...
@Carguments5 жыл бұрын
I did review the Tiguan. They are very similar. I actually preferred this over the Tiguan because of the size and power. Thanks for watching!
