I was handed the keys to the 2019 Volvo XC40 T5 AWD R-Design and jumped for joy to see this model fitted with orange carpets! Yes, I love the carpets, but there is a lot more I need to tell you about in this Volvo XC40, the smallest SUV offered by Volvo featuring the turbo 4-cylinder engine with AWD. Although this is an R-Design, these smaller wheels are from the Momentum trim. The dealership attached these winter tires last minute as that is what they had available!

Congratulations on a good informative XC40 review. I have the AWD D4 First Edition R Design XC40 with fully loaded options and it's a joy to drive every day. I find voice command useful on the move. Certain options like heated steering wheel, 360 Camera, remote tailgate and key memory seats make our every day life a little easier.

I too am a huge fan of the orange carpeting. I saw it at the LA auto show. My only gripe is that the carpeting and the material on the door cards felt just slightly too cheap for the price of the vehicle. That said, I really applaud Volvo for making it available.

My wife loves hers (she has the T4) no complaints except it doesn't have an oil dipstick, it has a indicator buried somewhere in the car menu. Driving it at night is pretty cool, the headlights turn with the wheel and the interior lights can be any color you can think of. It's definitely an odd little car.

Thats pretty common on luxury cars these days, especially European. My last 3 vehicles (BMW and 2 Audi's) have all used that design philosophy.

We ordered a T5 R-Design in thunder grey with parking assist and a few other options. It will be here in about 30 days. I can't wait to drive it.

Great review. It’s a shame about the MY21 downgrades. Mine will come with no visible exhausts (all trims look like the Momentum trim now), no embossing on the leather, C-Pillar and kick plates, only 1 main key plus a care key, the paddle shifters are now removed from the R Design, folding headrests gone, close & lock button on the trunk has gone, electric folding rear seats has gone (now manual operation from rear seats). Even the ticket holder on the A-Pillar has gone, although there is one on the sun visor. WTH Volvo? 🤷🏻‍♂️

The R design on the XC40 probably looks the best of all the trims. But my favorite is the XC60 its more balanced and not as big as the XC90 and a bit bigger than the XC40. Great review BTW good luck on your future videos!

I've literally just put my order in today for a T4 R-Design with the lava carpets😊😊😊 had to be done. I am surprised how much room is in there. I'm 7 feet tall and 150kgs, and fit perfectly, and I could even sit behind myself. Now that's a first for me. I've had much bigger cars like the 98 Mercedes S500, and you couldn't get anyone in behind my seat. Just have to wait now, quite long lead times here in the UK. They are telling me the 1st January, but hoping to pull that date forward a bit. Would love it just before Christmas😊😊😊 nice present for me, only problem then I have to buy my wife an expensive present as well😂😂😂😂

Good choice! Bought mine 2months ago, it was only 15000km driven, so basically new! I love every second with it, ofcourse now after 6000km driven its not totally new for me, but surprises me many times still : ) I have White and black top R-Design D3.

@@Pulunen93 Yeah I'm really excited to get it. I'm getting it under the disability scheme we have here in the UK, so basically it's not costing me anything. So I went for the Onyx Black with the pro pack, so get the 20 inch alloys as well. Absolutely stunning looking car.

@@maxlandireviews Oh I'm sure it will. I've watched hours of reviews on KZbin and read dozens of articles on it, and haven't read or watched a single bad thing being said about it. I wasn't actually that bothered about getting a car, and sold my last car in May, but then as soon as this became available on the mobility scheme, well I just couldn't say no😂😂😂

The Volvo will make a lot more sense to a lot more people. Loved the drive of the mini JCW and the playfulness of the interior. But I really didn’t want to give the Volvo keys back. Definitely my favourite Subcompact I’ve been able to try out

nobody mentions the orindis fuel economy, and the lack of traction when setting off from junctions completely missed them aspect including something as stupid as the rear address do not remove they can for a car seat it safely

The black does nothing for the shape of this car, very plain and rather boring. Needs to be w contrast like the Crystal White, Bursting Blue or Fusion Red

Average at best! As for the orange carpets, they will look really grim as soon as they start to get dirty!
