I came off a 08 Yz250f to my 19 Yz250fx. Best thing I ever did. Edit: I go into areas where there is no phone signal, deep woods. I don’t mind taking my hand tune. I’ve been a Yamaha fan for a long, long time.

Love the suspension and motor on my 17FX. Probably the best suspension I've ridden with. I'm a singletrack guy....only time I see a motocross track is when it's part of a hare scramble course. So the stiffer suspension isn't really needed for me.... The only thing I've ever complained about on the FX is its height.
@rmatvmc4 жыл бұрын
Yamaha definitely has the suspension working good on these bikes. Like I described in the video, the 19 surprised me as far as working in all conditions and providing plenty of comfort. We are all winning with the Japanese manufactures developing off-road specific bikes! - Wes

I’m about 15, 140 pounds and only 5’6 - ‘7. I purchased this bike as my first full size and I absolutely love it. Compared to a big bore bike, it is definitely lacking in power, however you only notice it on the wide open roads and sand dunes. It’s also just much easier to just hit the gas and have the bike go, you ride the bike, and the bike is not going to ride you. It was perfect for me as a year and a half ago (when I bought it) it was manageable to a degree and light enough to move around. Now after owning it for a while, it is very forgiving and very easy to just enjoy all of the performance the bike has to offer. Heck I’m no where close to outriding it. (I own the 2019 model) (I was only 5’3 when I bought it)

I haven't really done any research on the 2020 because I have a 2019, but what I found interesting is that everyone says that the 2019 is basically based off the yz250f but when I was looking into it the 250fx actually shares more engine components from the wr250f. So the crank and cams I'm pretty sure are the same between the fx and WR which would probably be why the engine seems less racy. Interesting to see the differences between the 19 and the 20.

Who gives a shit whether it’s based on the 250f or not. If I wanted a mx bike, I would have gotten the F. Why does everything need to be compared to the MX bike?

Both are great, I’d recommend the 19’ though, less shit on it, has a more “tried and true” chassis and engine, and as of right now, there’s a lot more aftermarket and compatible components! I can swap trannies with my 15’ 250F.

Yamaha claims the 2020 has a softer suspension setting compared to the 2019 . Down one fork spring rate from a 47 to a 46 . Curious if you checked clicker and high speed comp settings before testing ? I own a 2019 also 2020.

Is the power difference pretty significant on the 2020? I owned a 15 model. I loved everything about that bike besides the power. It just felt like wr to me. I tried the tuner and it helped some. But I wished I had just went with the yz250f and changed the wheel and tank. I’m considering trying the fx again now.

Can we get a 2020 Crf 250rx vs Yz250fx vs Ktm 250xcf shootout? Which bike would be the best for a 50% Gncc racing and 50% mx track open practice days.
@rmatvmc4 жыл бұрын
I haven't ridden the 2020 250RX, but I was at the launch of the 2020 250R and I love that bike. The updates to the motor on the 2020 are noticeable and a good improvement over the 2019. It would be a really tough toss up between it and the FX. However, the big factor you need to consider between those two is if you want the wide ratio transmission on the FX. If I was doing a combo of track and GNCC, i'd go with the Honda for the gearing. If you were a WORCS or desert racer, then I'd say go with the Yamaha. That's my opinion but both are awesome bikes. I haven't ridden the KTM so I can't give any feedback on it. - Chase

Did you notice the seat height being lower on the 20 model
@rmatvmc4 жыл бұрын
To be honest the seat height wasn't apparent. I think that it's a half inch difference? The biggest thing that I noticed was that the bars on the 19 felt tall to me. The 2020 was immediately more comfortable and familiar for me. - Wes

I had a 2015 250fx and loved the bike except for the power. It just felt more like a mellow WR to me. I ride a variety of trails GNCC and single track and some occasional motocross. I would rather have just had a yz250f with an 18” wheel and bigger tank with a suspension revalve. Can anyone tell me if this new one is a huge difference? Is it closer to the 250f?

Hi, have you ridden the 1st generation? (2015 to 2017) . Is it worth it to go from a 2015 to a 2020? Does it feel lighter, skinny and more nimble? For cross country race and single track. I will have to revalve the suspension anyway so i don't care how stiff it feel. Thanks great video!
@rmatvmc4 жыл бұрын
The new generation is and does feel narrower than the 1st gen. It just does everything better. Better motor, cornering etc. But the 1st gen is still a really good bike. So yes, the 2020 is a better bike but it's up to you if you want to spend some extra dough to get one. - Chase

What does a 250f feel like compared to a 450f I have people trying to get to go to a 250f but I don’t know if I want to.
@rmatvmc4 жыл бұрын
It's obviously going to be way less power throughout the power range than a 450. A 250F is definitely enough power for a lot of different riders even if they don't think it is. I like riding a 250F mainly for the fun factor. They are lightweight, easy to handle, less likely to get you into trouble, and just a blast to ride. If you haven't ridden a modern 250F I would highly recommend it! - Wes

The 6 speed gearbox makes it a fun bike to street legalize and stock it will do over 80 mph. If you want to cruise 75 on the freeway for long distances, it isn’t the bike for that. 65 and under for medium distances is realistic.
@kyjelly55244 жыл бұрын
NVMCRIDER that’s what I’m thinking. No real road riding. Just short trips from trail to trail and the occasional lunch run. I was looking at the wr250r but I think I’d get bored fast. The fx is supposed to be hella reliable too. The maintenance kinda sucks but I ride like a certified wimp so I probably won’t follow the interval schedule lol
@nvmcrider84754 жыл бұрын
@@kyjelly5524 Get the WR250F because it comes with the headlight, tail light and fan. You will want to get the competition eco and maybe a pipe depending on your weight and riding ability. I weigh 220lbs and the wr250f has more than enough power for 98% of the situations that I ride in, I do get beat by the 450s going uphill in the sand.

NVMCRIDER I’m 6’1 210 without gear, water, or tools. I’m pretty mellow. But I don’t want to get bored haha. Ind the lighter the better because I ride alone a lot and I’ve had to pick the bike up when I bit off more than I could chew. I had an 09 crf450x as my last bike. I don’t need a 450. I was looking at the 350ktm but I just trust the Japanese bikes more. I had that bike for a few years and valves were always in spec.
