The West Point Band leads the freshman class of US Military Academy Class of 2023 in "Pass and Review" in front of Superintendent's residence. The festive moment concludes the traditional 12 mile march from Camp with full packs from Cadet Basic Training known as "Beast Barracks". Just under 1,200 New Cadets from all 50 states and 15 allied countries arrived on July 1st R-Day. Class motto unveiled is "Freedom is Not Free". Video by Ken Kraetzer for Sons of the American Legion Radio and Rallypoint.com on 20190812.

Send these kids to Ft. Leonardwood for some real shaping of true soldiers with A Company 1-48th, forget about a petty 6 week field training “summer camp”, can’t even stay in step, no discipline drill sergeant, think they need more corrective training drill sergeant lol. We rucked 12 miles every other week, ran 4 miles every other day and muscle failure those other days. We spent hours marching in formation down to a science and only senior knows how dedicated and willing we were to train how we fight. We slept little, went on night missions and raids that focused on realism and tactics or else we did it all again. Going through Basic Training and AIT really shaped those of us that went straight to ROTC afterwards to value our military bearing, strength, fitness and training.

Salti Dawg Thank you for your service sir first off. However, I went through basic training and AIT for 17 weeks with the hardest and most squared away companies that when I arrived to my ROTC, everyone from the cadets to the LTC said I was the most squared away person. To have experienced all I went through to then go 4 years to become an officer really puts me in the shoes of the enlisted men I will later command and gives me the military bearing and discipline that many of my peers lack or will never receive.

@Adolfo Enrique Many of them worked for Obama too, the military isn't the one doing the politics, it is an arm of the government and the strongest diplomacy arm of the government, if needed it can end entire countries, and if it was required of them they would do it because theirs is not to reason why just to do it. West Point is the finest school in the US and while yes it taught some useless officers and some controversial ones, the majority of the ones we remember are the ones who did their duty to the country and not to any one man

@saltymonke3682
@saltymonke3682 4 жыл бұрын
@@sonofthesun5449 now the rifles are shorter, so it shouldn't be a problem, right? see your logic here? Frederick The Great disbanded that regiment because it had no use or significant tactical advantage on the battlefield. Short people can't fight well? Tell that to VC and NVA, or South Korean who fight them too (They feared the Koreans than the Americans actually). Short doesn't equal to weakness or incompetence in the operational environment. If being tall means a guaranteed operational competency, all SFOD-D members will be 6ft tall. But in reality they have all kinds of people and shapes. Same in the Navy SEAL, a munchkin boat (a squad filled with people in the shortest height percentile of the whole Buds class) during Buds can perform better than any other squads that are taller than them. Or in the Green Beret, Look at Roy Benavides or the story of Richard Flaherty (aka the Giant Killer). He's only 4ft 9 inch, and yes, He's a Green Beret Captain back then in Vietnam. www.military.com/undertheradar/2018/02/22/vietnam-vet-richard-flaherty-was-giant-killer.html

Considering this at the end of walking 12 miles with full combat load after having completed several days in the field that’s kinda unreasonable, plus chances are they don’t want them in step with a heavy load on. That would be dangerous and stupid

@Adolfo Enrique If I were you I keep my mouth shut. My dad was a military officer during the Nam's war you moron at Mekong Delta (4th company, 3rd batallion, 11th regiment, and 7th infantry division. He served for seven years, and his MOS was an 1542 infantry unit commander. Did you serve? Or has anyone in your family served during that time? Probably NOT!!!
