Great insight. Loving the music comparisons. For me, the darkness and complexity of Ardbeg makes me think of Opeth.

Right, I don't find it repetitive or simple myself. I think it's more jazzy than bluesy. But I'm no expert either! I find more going on in it than the Laphroaig 10 myself.

I am loving these individual videos Daniel and I realize I am seeing them quite some time after being made. This beautiful single malt is always on my list of favourites and Ardbeg Ten stays there no matter how many scotches I try. It's so delicious! It also brings a bit of a punch but I do love that about this expression! I want to say that I enjoy Rex too of course, a lot! I am just particularly enjoying these individual videos as a treat! Thanks so much! Different vibe! Awesome!

Discovered the amazing world of whiskey just two years ago , believe it or not my first introduction to single malt scotch was Ardbeg 10 given to me by a friend of mine whose face I punched hard after I had my first sip of Ardbeg.. Went home that night and the first thing I did was to block his phone number and all the other social media shit .. Fast forward 2 years , I am so much in love with Ardbeg now that I can’t get enough of it ..! The journey of discovery has been nothing but amazing and whiskey is definitely an acquired taste ..! Lastly , if you have a friend who wants to get into single malt scotch , pour him some Ardbeg 10 if he’s someone that you kind of wanna get rid of in your life .. Cheers malt mates ..! 🥃 ☺️ 🥃

I finally got my hands on a bottle to see if I can find my whiskey in this journey of mine. Unfortunately for me (FOR ME) this was the worst I've tasted. This was formaldehyde, dissecting a frog in science class, water in a black olive can worst thing so far. I will say the nose and pallet pretty much matched up. For me this was a bust but those who enjoy this, live your best life. I salute you.

Daniel you are equal first with Horst for best reviewer both totally different but just as good as each other . I saw this review whilst I was trying Ardbeg 10 for the first time, yes I got really off moss a stinky mossy river. The stuff stinks 😷, but oh how I enjoyed it.

I’ll start with saying that Monkey Shoulder scotch was my first whisky, and only kept with Scotch whiskeys moving into glenlivet and glenfiddich etc making my way to speysides like Arberlour and Highlands like highlands park and the Balvenie. I then moved to Islay where I found home in Laphroaih and Rdbeg 10. To this day the Ardbeg 10 is my absolute favorite- It’s funny that after getting into American bourbon and rye whiskeys- having tried several varieties of High West and the Woodford Reserve Rye and coming back to the Ardbeg is lighter to me. The Peat smoke is certainly strong but the actual flavor is sweet and calmer than the spice of American rye. Great review and wonderful music allegory. Ardbeg stands on its own, certainly my favorite whiskey- I can’t explain it, the smoke doesn’t repulse me, the complexity and taste of sea and robust days on water sitting at night by the campsite is what I get.

I’ve just recently gotten into Islay scotch, having kicked the journey off with Laphraoig. At first I was put off by the initial medicinal notes, but that went away and I love it. I’m about to purchase a bottle of Ardbeg 10 to continue on my journey.

i feel like real blues is basically the difference between someone playing a 500 note solo that is technical and on the edge of human capability and someone that can play the same 10 notes for 2 minutes that is making their guitar speak, and allows you to feel what they’re saying in your bones, just depth there that not everyone can capture

Comparing to Laphroag, it tastes like burnt rubber or tire, But with a drop of water it is phenomenal! The taste lingers in there putting you in a deep reflection on why you started getting into single malt so late in your life!? How industrial and made up all these different brands of beer and liquor that you had have till then tasted... accompanied with a joy of finally finding it and all those that came before were just a trail...

My brother and I have recently got into whisky (I just turned 21 in Feb) and we have found that scotch interests us much more than bourbon or Irish. Only tried a handful of things so far. In my college days it was all jack Daniels and cheap vodka, but thanks to you and Rex I have expanded my palate 😅. I started with makers mark because it’s cheap and accessible only to like it slightly more than JD. then I went and found monkey shoulder. Game changer. I realized there were so many more nuances to discover. From there I went out and decided to give bourbon another shot with angels envy. Eh... it was good but, I don’t think I’m experienced enough to to find all the pleasantries. It wasn’t far off from many other bourbons I’ve had, so I was disappointed. Was at the liquor store just looking around, and they had ardbeg 10 on sale for $49 and I just said f*ck it, lets try an islay... best decision ever. I freaking LOVE this whisky. So dramatic and so many rich, fun flavors to explore. This review was spot on like they always are. And thank you to all the MBs that make the exploration of whisky that much more enjoyable ☺️🥃

Saw this at my local liquor store today and grabbed a bottle. I had high hopes until I opened the bottle. Immediately go this burning rubber odor from it. Gave it a sip hoping it would taste better but was very disappointed. Tasted like the harbor freight rubber odor mixed with olives. Maybe it will grow on me like Absinthe did? EDIT: Just poured a second glass. The first sip was difficult but after that, things started tasting different. The smoke flavor is not nearly as noticeable. I just might be starting to like this stuff.

I tried ardbeg10 once about 1.5yrs ago and I hated it. Now I’ve been drinking more whiskies and have come back around to giving it a chance and while it smells/tastes about the same to me.. I sort of enjoy it now. I think I had it in my head how whisky was suppose to taste (Glenfiddich/Jameson/Glenlivet) and Ardbeg is so far from it that I wasn’t ready. I’m ready now.

I remember the first time I tried Ardbeg 10. That's why it's my favorite of the big 3. Laphroaig is my second favorite especially at the lower price point. Which leaves Lagavulin 16 which I will never buy another bottle of (better Scotches out there for half the price).

I did a special video with this one today, black robe and all! Don't have a bottle of Ardbeg 10 on hand, but I do happen to have Ardbeg Uigedail and did a review on that, SO GOOD! I've said many times, I am not a peat head, but I do enjoy the wide variety of experiences that all whiskey can give a person. Peated stuff does feel more like a cold day Winter dram to me, something about it reminds me of the holiday season.

My review of Ardbeg 10 Nose: Heavy minty peat smoke in sea mist & tanned leather, hints of Scotch heather settling into a light chocolate-vanilla syrup & Irish moss on cast-iron-reduced tree fruit Palate: Smoked dark fruits & charred berries with a citrus squeeze, fresh baseball glove leather, ancient wood, cacao nibs giving way to ginger snaps Aftertaste: Oak, clove & spices, black pepper, natural rope, aged leather with cigar tobacco

Hmmmm This is the first one, musically where I hear something different. The Cranberries, Zombie. Like this whisky is Kerosene and Cloraceptic's hate baby. But there is some sweetness at the end, after you have taken some time to get to know it a little. But Clapton, early Clapton, not 90's Clapton.

To me, this is the tarriest, ashiest Islay whisky. It’s also the most obviously oily. It doesn’t have the decaying, slimy green note that Laphroiag has, neither does it have the dried apricots note that I get in the Port Charlotte 10. Just my impression.
