Years ago, when I heard animals in my attic. I went up with a plate of scrambled eggs for them to see who was up there. As soon as I sat down, a raccoon ran up to me and climbed right in my lap. She was so excited about the eggs. Later, when she had a litter of three babies, she brought them to me and they'd come for food every morning and every evening. They were affectionate and so sweet and I miss them. I still put out food in my yard for the raccoons and an opossum who come every night, but I miss being to cuddle them and have them hold my hand or come when I call them.
@4825ph4 жыл бұрын
SCBJQ I do the same - every night a local raccoon, three stray cats and a opossum get our leftovers. We feel good about not wasting food and the animals seem happy - they coexist quite well and share with no issues.

One time there was a stray kitten at my door so I would feed it daily but then I noticed it always meowed for food and I was over feeding it but the kitten wasn't getting fat. Turns out one day my neighbor solved the mystery. A raccoon was stealing the cat food. Lol.

The bear cub story, appalling. We invade their territories, chase them away, leave them without food, and now we even put them down. Humans are disgusting.

That would make any other invasive species evil, as well. We have to remember to consider the complexity of a question like this.

@@andyroobrick-a-brack9355 Hello Andy ! No, you draw the wrong conclusion. All the other species invade new territories and kill, only for survival, or in self defense. They "destroy" only for these 2 reasons. The only species that brakes nature's law only for pleasure, is man. He hunts down wildlife to build houses, or no reason at all but pure pleasure. And this is disgusting and appalling.

@@sandybell1743 Building homes is a necessary thing, not just for pleasure. I do agree that hunting for pleasure is wrong, but if any other animal evolved to our level of intelligence, than they would do the same because of quality of life. My Dad is a volunteer at The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg Colorado. They save carnivores from all around the world regardless of the financial difficulties. DNR should reach out to them in the future for situations like that that bear cub. They give the animals a place to live out their natural lives.
@wrenwrenwood65034 жыл бұрын
The sad thing is they had sanctuaries that tried to convince them at no no cost to the DNR to take care of the cub and reintroduced it to another location when it was big enough. But they just wanted to kill a baby because they can. Having power can corrupts a man/woman, or lessens his/her morality, and the more power a man/woman has, the more corrupted he/she will become. I live in New York City, and about a week ago, a female raccoon came in my yard to steal the dry food from my ferals. I was out there with them, and she allowed me to watch her from a few feet away, and even solicited more treats. She came back three nights in a row, but then stopped! I have marshmallows, turkey cold cuts, all things that she might like, yet every night I wait and wait to no raccoon friend. I have walked all over the neighborhood, checking to see if maybe the poor thing was hit by a car. I have found nothing. Do they move on from an area after a few days? I would like to see her again, but I am starting to feel foolish sitting out here for hours with marshmallows. :)
