@@graderman140m In the 1960s and early 70s I grew up near a family run grader business. Had the opportunity to get to know them and travel with them. Was always fascinated by the equipment I would see when I would go to job sites with them. They had a CAT and Galion Iron Works Grader, a Gradall truck. Was intrigued by all the controls in the grader and Gradall. I learned quickly what it meant to find grade and that the grader operator had one of the toughest jobs on the work site. Also learned that you better have patience, good eye sight and the ability to read topography without a blueprint if you ran a grader. Was also taught that the grader operator was the smartest man on the site. Job site superintendents had no idea what they were doing. Ha ha! Thanks again for bringing back great memories.

grandpa said its a little hard to see out of those john deeres he liked to run a 140h he always talked about starting on the old pull blades you spun the wheel to move the blade

I agree with your grandpa I’m not a big fan of the visibility out of the Deere machines I prefer the cat visibility I put a lot of hours on a 140h great machines I never have run a pull type grader I learned on a 1973 cat 120 all mechanical controls thanks for watching!

Could you do a video on using the saddle lock pin. And the correct way to put the mow board to the side.

On this machine side to side on your blade pitch control would lower and raise your riper you can also change it from there and move it to the right hand side auxiliary rollers where my wing is set up at

What do you prefer Cat M series joystick control or John Deere's system?

What does the snail do on the awd switch ? And what about the precision dial ?

The snail switch is called creep mode it will disengage the rear tandem’s and pull with your front wheels the precision dial is for when your in snail mode it adjust your speed of the front wheels.

So here's my question which machine do or would you choose , Cat 140 with rack, Cat M 3 series or Deere like u r driving, Deere with Rack, or Deer with hand controls like u demoed ?

If I stay with cat it will be a cat 140 with rack controls I like the M but my shoulders are bothering me from running the joysticks and if I go Deere I’d go with the controls I have in this machine.

Thanks I have to agree with you, keep up the video too bad you r so far away as I would love to talk grader talk with you as it's been in my family since my Dad came back from WW11 as this is all I know, I teach it and when me and my wife r out for a drive I will see a grader miles away and she says I have a lab dog nose for equipment , take care, enjoy you and what you stand for !

How's the air conditioning compared to the Cat ???

The ac actually works a lot better then the cat I’ve been in 100 degrees in both machines and have had the fan on the second setting and was almost to cold had to have it on the 4th setting on the cat plus the blower motor is much quieter on the Deere then the cat

I run 45 in all six that seemed to balance out the best for me anyway.

AWD so jealous... my employer refuses to get AWD for snow

Wow that’s crazy once you have AWD you will never go with out it it’s amazing the difference it makes

@@graderman140m I know! I ran a 140AWD when my usual unit 12M2 was in the shop. Easily twice the machine in terms of snow removal
